"Actor rehearsing lines in French TGV train toilet is mistaken for terrorist"

Via Drudge:  The 35-year-old had shut himself away to practise his lines for an English-language stage role.

But a passing train guard who overheard his soliloquy raised the alarm, telling his bosses there was someone talking about weaponry in the WC.

The high-speed train, en route to Paris from Marseille, made an unscheduled stop in the city of Valence where security forces took the man for questioning at a police station.

He was later released without charge.

And they surrendered to him, too.

I'll give credit for everything working as it should. First, it is still wrong for someone to lock themselves in a train restroom to tie it up while he practices his lines. Second, you don't really know what he's doing, so you can only guess by what he's saying. Third, an attack has occurred with the same MO.

But you know what didn't happen? The actor went peacefully, not whining while police needed to forcefully remove him. The police figured out what was going on, and quickly let everyone go on their way. Nobody is talking about the lawsuits to come.

We were thinking of going to Europe for our 40th wedding anniversary. But, it's too fucking crazy. So, we're going to Nova Scotia. Anyone ever been there or have any info? My mother's family spent a generation in Halifax, having emigrated from Ireland and Scotland. They moved to the US just before my mom was born.

I have known several people from NS, or who have vacationed there, all they say is summer is a great day.

But seriously, do not miss the Bay of Fundy.

In British election results the Vale of Clwyd constituency has flipped from Conservative to Labor.

I don't know what the Vale of Clwyd is but I suspect it has Hobbitsses. They should only get half a vote if you ask me.

The Plaid party has held on to Redditch and Arfon. I think that's where the wizards go to school.

Were misogyny and Russian meddling a factor in the British elections?

Rabel-
You are a hoot!

If old G.Washington had lost would the American continent have evolved into a parliamentary type government like a Canada or a New Zealand? I'm a solid constitutionalist, but I admire the Brits for the speed of their response to the electorate. The PM announces new elections, the Queen dissolves the legislature, campaigns are held, elections, votes counted and the Queen asks the winner to form a new government in her name --all within a two or three month period. Not the years of drawn out primaries and caucus and convention that we put up with. I also like that there is more of a chance for multi parties to emerge in a parliament. No one that I know really fits into the Dem or Rep party, I don't get it that we don't have more parties that would join together in coalitions.

Nick, since you will be in the neighborhood stop by. It's only a day's drive from Nova Scotia to the Outer Banks.

If one doesn't understand why Farage's nationalistic, independence-minded UKIP voters tended to leave UKIP and vote Labor rather than Conservative then one simply does not understand British politics.

And since I have no fucking idea why UKIP voters trended Labor I clearly do not understand British politics.

Sixty, I would conduct the National Geography Bee when I taught middle school. Dumb boys are better than smart girls in geography. Nova Scotia isn't even in your time zone!! We have the Outer Banks on our short list and my bride is dying to meet you, as am I.

I said a day's drive. As in 24 hours.

For a road tripper like you that's a stroll in the park. And a park on the NJ Turnpike.

Sixty, You are correct. But I have my bride and she HATES being in the car. When we come to your state we will fly and rent a car. My bride flies to and from SoCal annually. She picked Nova Scotia partly because there won't be a lotta driving, and we get to do her favorite, drive onto a ferry. She wanted to take a 6 hour ferry from Portland to NS. I nixed that. We fly to Halifax and then drive around for a few days[3-4hr drives] and take a 75 minute ferry to PEI. Another reason she wants to go is because my mom used to always talk about her Aunt Rita who lived in Halifax. Aunt Rita was a classic letter writer and would write to my mom[and vice versa] 2-3 times a year. Substantive letters, and my mom shared some w/ my bride. My mom's favorite book was Ann of Green Gables which is set on PEI.

Excellent. I only got as far Down East as Maine, and, ayuh, theyah accents drove me bonkers.

I hear it is beautiful up there from everyone I know who has visited. I have met escapees, who moved away because the weather can be difficult.

I found the NS accent sounded closer to Irish than other Canadian accents, eh?

Take plenty of pictures, and let us know all about your journey.

Will do. When I was young, I was a juvenile probation officer in Kansas City. I had a kid on my caseload whose family had just moved from Newfoundland to KC. Quite a culture change! The accent was unique. I ended up sending the kid to a boy's home. He couldn't stop stealing 8 track decks and CB's from cars.

A lot of Scots and Irish settled in the eastern end of NS and in Halifax. I'm told you can still hear Gaelic in small towns in the western end. There is s small coastal town toward the western end called Lunenburg. It was settled by Germans and I'm told to look for sausage and kraut meals when there. Several of my aunts and uncles have been there. A few were born there. But, I'm also reading up on the area. Being a dago, food is a priority and they have some superb seafood as you might imagine. I like lobster, but eating whole ones is a lotta work. I'll go w/ prepared lobster meals and lobster rolls. But, the mussels and scallops will be consumed in mass quantities. There's a town on the Bay of Fundy called Digby, that has some of the best and cleanest shellfish anywhere. We aren't going until next month when it's the warmest up there..eh.

Need coffee or covefe. You can hear Gaelic in the EASTERN end.
