Lyrics after the break

I'm your boogie man that's what I am
I'm here to do whatever I can
Be it early mornin' late afternoon
Or at midnight it's never too soon
To want to please you to want to please you
To want to do it all all for you
I want to be your be your rubber ball
I want to be the one ya love most of all, oh yeah

I'm your boogie man I'm your boogie man
Turn me on
I'm your boogie man I'm your boogie man
Do what you want
I'm your boogie man I'm your boogie man
Turn me on
I'm your boogie man I'm your boogie man
Do what you want

I'm your boogie man that's what I am
I'm here to do whatever I can
Be it early mornin' late afternoon
Or at midnight it's never too soon
To want to take you to want to hold you
I want to give me all all to you
And I want you to completely understand
Just where I'm at and where I am - oh yeah

I'm your boogie man I'm your boogie man,
I'm your boogie man that's what I am
I'm here to do whatever I can
Be it early mornin' late afternoon
Or at midnight it's never too soon
I want to be with you I want to be with you
Yeah we'll be together you and me
I want to see you ah get near you
I want to love you ah from sundown sunup, oh yeah oh yeah

I'm your boogie man that's what I am
I'm here to do whatever I can
Be it early mornin' late afternoon
Or at midnight it's never too soon
To want to please you to want to hold you
To want to do it all all for you
I want to be you be your rubber ball
I want to be the one ya love most of all
I'm your boogie man aha

Well. I suspect you don't pay as a high a monthly premium per month as we do and have. And I further suspect that your premiums aren't going to go up as astronomically, yet again, as ours will. a) We pay our own way, across the board, full stop, without subsidy of any kind, and b) We have yet to cross that elusive, magic number that would give us a tax cut.

It's just continual bullshit, back and forth--forget about all the way down, or even all the way up--just continual bullshit, back and forth, and a whole lot of complete crap along the way.

I remember joking with Freeman Hunt, years and years and years ago, that's gonna be like being on COBRA forever. I was wrong. It's been twice as bad as that for years now. Now, potentially, depending on what turns out in the Senate (but almost certainly in terms of of what the U.S. House of Representatives has done, if its majority could have its way, in an even a worse (!) fashion than the Dems did with Obamacare), it's quite likely that we'll have to pay even more by an exponential factor.

I also remember writing if not here, and if not at the other place, (even though I think I mentioned it a couple of years ago in both places, and I CERTAINLY have talked on the phone about with people whom you know) that during the course of our son's high school years, we were likely going to spend on health care premiums, just the premiums to be clear, the equivalent of what the full-time tuition PLUS his living on campus (not that we would have encouraged that) for a full four years. I was right about that, but now it's possible that I could end up being wrong about that, too. More likely than not, I'm going to be off by a factor, and not in terms that work in our favor.

We don't live in the '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s or the aughts, and God Knows not the '50s.

I am fed up. Mostly by the likes of rhetorically dishonest people, such as those who hang out here.

The last time I got rankled about healthcare policy was around 2010 at "The Firm" when HR sat us down and told us what was "new."

"Nothing for you" she taunted in a room with one man and 15 women.

Times were times. Facts were facts.

Who are mostly subsidized, one way or another (including the reality of pensions from years ago, not having paid both sides of social security for most of their lives, not having had ever to pay workman's comp and unemployment insurance while not being eligible for it, being on Medicare--though that's not free, it isn't, and also it's certainly true than many can and do buy supplemental insurance--who are no required and do not pay into the system into the way in which we do. In this day and age, my husband and I are considered old and risky, and in no way is what we've paid into the system matters. That's the case when it comes to young people, which, OK: that's how it works. What is truly pissing off both of us is that *actually* elderly people ALSO are taking advantage. And speaking dishonestly. As if we don't recall what they were saying--and, more important, doing--back when they were not just our age, but at least 10 years younger.

And they are speaking dishonestly.

Don't tempt me. While I do know why you and we have shared similar situations, you're not there, and nor have you ever been.

Sweet jumpin' juniper, chickelit. You wanna reframe this in terms of identity politics, something I've always resisted, full stop.

Well. I'm resisting temptation, but what I will say is this: If you want to take me on with regard to this topic, make sure that you can say that you and yours have fully paid for everything. That you're not subsidized either publicly or privately (including via employer stuff) on this very day.

If not, screw that cheap identity-politics approach, something I've pushed against for at least 30 years.

Also, oh by the way, were your kids home-schooled, or at least educated outside the publicly subsided world? Just pointing back to what you and your political friends used to think was important....

...back in the day.

I'd bet that your honest answer would be:

No.

Why can't you start being honest, again?

It's not that you've broken my heart.

It's that I don't trust any of you to be honest with my son.

FULL STOP.

I used to work with a woman named Kitty Katz she was apparently sane except when she accepted that marriage proposal from Mr. Katz.
