Couldn't have anything to do with all those teacher conferences.

Maybe it's just that they know they can't be fired.

I was a substitute teacher for a couple years. The work ethic of many public school teachers in nonexistent. I got calls every day.

Don't even think of criticizing teachers in the open. That shit will ruin your street cred.

Even with a teacher here serving 81 elementary students semen cookies, you have a fight on your hands.

"Berndt pleaded no contest last November to charges of lewd conduct, and is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence. According to the AP, he wasn't fired immediately after his arrest, so he technically retired from teaching with pension."

There are a few things that you guys have never known about me. One example is that I quit high school, in disgust, in my senior year, way back when; I got a late arrival exemption and an early dismissal exemption, and I got a part-time job and started taking college classes in January of 1979,

Meanwhile, my dad and I (and my mom and I) had tons of arguments. You think I haven't had experience in arguing with liberals? With libertarians? You are nuts if so you think. Conservatives who haven't actually lived out what they're advocating?--easy-peasy, that is.

Next question.

Some of the dumbest, deer in the headlights, oblivious, brain dead people I have ever met in my life and in my career have been teachers. I was shocked at their level of ignorance about anything and everything. WTF did they even to in college to get a degree. The exception was those who specialized in the sciences and math. Elementary school teachers especially ....forget it. Their 3rd grade students have more common sense.

However, to be fair.....if you are daily around and dealing physically with those little germ factories in elementary school, you are likely to catch every snot nosed sniffle yourself and call in sick.

Sorry if I offend anyone with teachers in their family. I did say there are exceptions.

The teachers I knew - when there were standards - whined constantly about the economic straightjacket they were in, which they had put themselves in, but were damned if they were going to either abjure having SUMMER off or put up with the harshness of private sector cut it or be cut. And that was when there were still standards.

At my college, the Education degree was openly called by the student pursuing the major as the MRS degree, so that should give you an idea what they did in college. My last roommate in college got a Masters in Education, but he is now a corporate trainer making a great deal of money teaching the things schools don't teach, leaving companies to fill the gaps.

When I was at university, the grade-point average of students admitted into the College of Education was the lowest. This is something that I knew, my father knew, we all knew.

I've never had a problem with thinking about criticizing teachers, in the open or otherwise. Which is why over many years I did and have.

That shit will ruin your street cred.

Well, to a degree, but not as much as you might think.

More interesting to me is that even if you've been doing that sort of thing for 35+ years, you're given no cred by the johnnie-come-latelies who, from what I can tell, never even bothered to really care about that sort of thing until very, very, very much later. And now those people, not all but many of 'em, are know-it-alls who, from what I can tell, didn't bother focusing on the problem until more recently.

Eh. So it goes.
