Pence leaves stage at Lancaster PA for a moving emotional moment.

The boy's father is terminally ill. The boy is asking about Trump and Pence supporting "Right to Try" legislation. Pence does not wait for the boy to finish his question, rather, he leaves the stage and hugs to boy tightly while his mother chokes through rest of the question, a statement actually, to raise awareness about the legislation.

It's touching. It shows right wing politicians are actually human, counter to popular opinion.

Right to Try is legislation that allows terminally ill patients to access treatments that have passed basic safety testing but not yet available to the public.

I recall this being an issue when AIDS became critical and patients were dying in large numbers while denied medications that had not yet passed through the very long approval process.

Perhaps. But it's also dodging the question. Not saying it was wrong, but it is a dodge.

A dodge? It was a human reaction.

That is not to say that Hillary wouldn't have done it.

It just would take her an hour or so to get off the stage with the help of ten beefy black nurses aides.

Cynics aside, good for Pence. Yeah, he's the mensch Trump needed, but also a great speaker. Nice he can be spontaneous like that.

Here a are a few of the good things Trump has done, many completely unsolicited that you'd be hard put to find the Ozarks doing (granted, a couple of dups).

Another list from Reddit. I do like the one about the Marines.

If he did stuff like this, 10 times a day from now until the end of the campaign, does anyone seriously believe they'd be reported by the Lefty media anymore than these have been in the last 8 months?

For a minute there I thought the kid was asking for a right to die legislation.

I guess that makes it a balanced ticket since I don't remember Trump hugging anyone. Dick Cheney wasn't likely to hug anyone but his boss didn't mind doing it.

Trooper York said...

Well Trump hugs Ivanka all the time.

But then he just wants to feel her titties.

Trooper York said...

Can you blame him?

Chip Ahoy said...

Did you even listen? He returned to the podium and said he would pursue the legislation.

The debates are going to be hard on the Dems. Hillary has never done well in one, and Kayne doesn't seem nearly as good as Pence.

Does that mean he is going to push Hillary out of the way and demand that Beyonce be the Nominee? Just sayn'

Here's a suggestion for you, ASSHOLE: Be a competent blogger and summarize your post substantively before uploading. Don't assume that everyone's as disinterested in policy as you are.

There are enough videos of Trump's schizophrenic statements and whichever yes-men he gets on his team to last a lifetime. I'm done sifting through every one of them and so are most people. The decision to take any interest in his or Hillary's actual responses is over. It's only up to the true, die-hard believers to do that. The 20% - or however many actually are still left who care for these bozos.

Just in case you wanted to be in touch with reality this year, which is doubtful. The interest in every one of Trump's tweet-farts and whatever the nobody politician with his unflattering record in Indiana has to say about them is close to zilch. I understand that the media vexes and hypnotizes you, so you assume anyone really gives a damn about what Trump and Pence have to say, or what they do, and you get a miniature bamboo hard-on by the frenzy they stir on the far right.

But to everyone else it just fades out like barking white noise. So, you can take your moment of crocodile-tear sympathy out of the first and likely only display of humanness you get out of the right-wing this year (or probably in ten years) and cry me a river over it.

Good day to you, fuckface.

Three responses:

1. Yes, I am a man.
2. Yes, you are one very extremely moody.. um, whatever you call yourself.
3. I can't answer to your flatness.

Or flat-chestedness.

Or flatulent flaccidness.

I can't answer to any of those, Chuck.

Or Chip.

Or whatever you call yourself.

Now get back in the kitchen and bake me a cake!

And make me a sammich!

Just kidding. I have no need of being poisoned.

Seriously, Chippers. Get a grip.

I'm cherry picking I know but those were the best visuals in an otherwise mundane rant.

The post was about Pence. Why did you make it about Trump?

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Because without Trump there is no Pence. Just because he did a nice human hug of a kid whose dad was dying that doesn't make him a national figure. He's considered a mediocre governor at best, he offers the standard right-wing boilerplate. Whatever he does for Trump's ticket that doesn't change the fact that I'm not (and most people are not) going to go out of our way to watch videos of the guy.

The rant was actually about Chip's decision to not summarize his substantive response and then paw at me for not knowing Pence's substantive response about the policy.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Joe Biden, America's Putin said...

Pence is a moderate governor - certainly not far right.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Is there a good democrat governor- Balls?

I don't know, but probably not. I leave these decisions to the people that have to vote for them. However, things in CA seem to be doing much better under Jerry Brown than under Schwarzenegger.

90% of the Democratic party needs to go. We're starting new revolutions aimed at cleaning house in the DNC and their mainstream lackeys - whom we take to be probably a good 90% of them, based on what I can pick up from listening to this one or that. We're starting even more local than the state level - dog catcher, county commissioner, and then moving up to roost the buzzards out at the top that way. The same way you guys did it through the states, but we're starting even more locally. Wish us luck; this is the only way to get out the Clintons and their fellow graft-mongerers. And by golly, do they need to go! Look at how quickly these cockroaches have already weaseled their way back in. Clean them out! You guys can build a wall to keep out the Mexicans; let us worry about getting these worthless grifters out. They're a bigger drag on the country than any illegal ever was.

Maybe, maybe not. I'm in rant mode, again. Chip's response activated me. Basically my response was based on his average or less ratings. My understanding is that he was chosen to get a conventional, midwestern, more-conservative-than-Trump guy on to balance things out. I can't remember every thing the guy did wrong or did right - just that it doesn't add any pizzazz. Certainly no more pizzazz than Trump himself. It was a conventional move.

Priority #1. Any political dollars of mine from now on go to Our Revolution or the Greens. You might think they're goofy but only the progressives can rid the party of the Clintons. And then there's the fact that there are more convergent political interests between these groups and the Libertarian Party than any three of us have with the duopoly. I'd just as soon vote for Gary Johnson as Jill Stein. Less war, more civil liberties, more competition against the corrupt DNC and RNC. Or just make a donation to WikiLeaks. As far as I'm concerned any of these groups are more helpful to our politics right now than either the DNC or the RNC - let alone any of the monkeys they'd foist upon us.

Joe Biden, America's Putin said...

I'd take moon beam over Clinton.

Not by much -tho.

I was hoping Trump would pick from a state we need to flip from blue to red. Now I make no secret that I believe Trump is a fraud and he's in this thing to hand it too her. I thought Pence was a boring choice - too safe and from a state we do not need. Indiana is as red as they come.
Turns out I like Pence. So - my only hope is that Trump makes an excuse and drops out and Pence picks someone to be his VP. I have 0%.

As someone once said - we are screwed.

chickelit said...

Why would more "pizzazz than Trump" add anything? I'm reminded of your Kaine is uglier than Hillary remark and why she needed it that way.

BTW, you have to be disappointed in Bernie's being paid-off. I know I am.

The electoral West is largely lost to Trump. The election will be an East Coast/Midwest contest. California may contribute significant third party votes. Neither candidate is paying it much attention. There may not be any Clooney parties for Hillary like there were for Obama. This is good news for L.A.'s beleaguered freeways.

Not uglier. More boring. She has to outshine her VP by orders of magnitude in order to promote herself. It's the signature Hillary move.

Now I'm not saying that Trump's VP should have had as much "pizzazz" as Trump. But it would have been cool if he'd been as unconventional.

BTW, you have to be disappointed in Bernie's being paid-off. I know I am.

I'm not aware of that. What I'm aware of is that he's not stopping with the convention.

I'm tired- "to and too" - make adjustments as necessary.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

I have a lot of admiration for Jill Stein and prefer to vote for her. Yes, she has momentum but she's not quite as articulate as Gary Johnson (but almost) - with whom I see enough convergence - and may not get enough momentum as him to cross the 15% threshold. Further, her progressive policies need to be better thought out or articulated if they're not going to be consigned to the ridicule that most government programs merit.

But yes, I have much more respect for her than for most politicians this year esp. Hillary and would be happy to vote for her if her momentum challenges the Libertarians'.

Now her own VP pick? I know nothing about that guy and probably would prefer to maintain my ignorance on him. The Libertarians did a great job in their Anderson Cooper interview and the both of them together have enough conventional experience and credentials to credibly challenge the system.

But she does make a better dent on the MSM nonsense than they expect her to and for that I think she deserves my support.

The old regional games of politics is long dead. Witness Willie and Albert in '92.

And I think you're wrong about the West unless you're talking just the Pacific Coast.

If the electoral maps from before the conventions are worth anything, they're going Trump. Don't let what happened in the early primaries fool you. Once they found out Cruz' game, they dropped him fast.

Yep. I get it now. And there's no going back. They've out-and-out pissed off too many people. The NYT has basically become an in-house propaganda arm organ for Hillary's DNC. We see it now. Those stories about intentionally colluding against Trump - it's transparent. NYT subscribers knew it as of this fall. Their comments sections were wild during the Democratic primary - still they didn't care. But the big media can't be taken on just as one thing. You can support independent media but they're easy for the MSM to ignore and marginalize. Support WikiLeaks, support anyone who can do credible damage to the DNC - and destroy their ridiculous operation that way. The media are a phantom ghost, but they're still just shadows. They will not be destroyed, but if you destroy their false idols in the DNC, then they can be embarrassed and marginalized that way. They have no substance, only shame. Make them go back to lurk in their hideouts.

Joe Biden, America's Putin said...

Rit, wouldn't you say this is why we see so many shifts from one party to the other (another) in so many 8 year cycles?

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Nah - it goes beyond just the media. It goes to the same interests paying off both parties so that too many people no longer see a legitimate choice between them. They were already limited with just two. So now it goes to the differences just between their personalities. Still not enough of a difference, for most people. Trump's crazy and Hillary's nasty. Or Trump's nasty and Hillary's crazy. Take your pick. And of course Trump can pick up the pieces of the traditional left with economic nationalism and a stance against just making our boys cannon fodder. It was a good flanking maneuver. He wanted to recover what he thought was rightfully Reagan's.

But overall it still goes to the two parties (at least as the DNC stands in Hillary's hands) paid off by the same interests and not being able to differentiate enough. The people are resorting to sorting out their own coalitions. Cultural-political coalitions. We're working out our own arguments because the pols no longer even have ideologies - and they sure aren't being practical when it comes to America's long-term strategic interests. Not ideological, not practical - no use. The shifts you see are just the people working out their own fluctuations before the pols can put the lid on us. The people are coming together. The media just don't know it because all they care about is kissing ass; basking in the politicians' glory. But that glory's coming to an end.

edutcher said...

I'd say you've got something there.

Joe Biden, America's Putin said...

Trump would be our only hope if he were for real. Let's assume for moment he is for real.

Everyone is saying "nobody cares until after labor day" - which is wrong - I think plenty of people are paying attention - but ok. lets go with it.

Trump needs to go sit quietly in a room with some good books and let Hugh Hewitt visit him once a day for a pop quiz. Relax. Relax. and Relax some more. Take that pre-labor day vacation. Trump looks exhausted and like his already limited speaking skillz are running on one brain cell. He needs to go away for a while. Run some great ads while he's gone. *where are his ads?* then come out and pretend he wants to win this thing. No more weirdness, no more sarcasm. yeah sure he can be Trump - but he needs to be Trump on fire.

Beat Hillary, you old fool.

R & B - I like that you have hope.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Bernie may have disappointed in some ways, but he's shown the way to and set up a funding mechanism that can hopefully clobber Hillary and the DNC later.

The Clintons are humiliation-proof. But I have a feeling that if enough money and political momentum can be marshaled against them, then that might do the trick.

But we're up against the toughest of odds. All the big money, and even bigger money that used to be on the right, the Bill Kristols, the military, the neocons, the lobbyists, no matter what party they were with, they've now thrown in with her.

So we'll need those on the right who understand their threat to get on board. Hell, we'll need anyone who wants to come aboard.

Joining forces is fun, when it's for the right cause.

edutcher said...

Most on the right were never represented by people like Kristol.

These days, people like him are the men without a country.

They're losing influence all the time. Yesterday, Rinse rallied with The Donald in PA and, perhaps more importantly, Liz Cheney came out for Trump.

Yeah, Ryan won, but the odds for McCain and Ayotte aren't as good. Every time one of them goes down, Tom Donahue's influence does, as well.
