Alice Cooper's got talent!

"I went to church incognito....."

Incognito?! Cooper's Cole Porter compared to today's ignoramuses.

Cooper's father in real life is/was a man of the cloth if I recall correctly.

I was an early '70's glam rock fan, much like rcommal.

Alice is a big baseball fan. He has a restaurant in downtown Phoenix called Coopers'town. I had a burger that was pretty good. The ambiance is a mix of music and baseball.

He's got the hands of a blind piano player
He's got a feel for the dark like a soothsayer
He takes a little bow and tips his fedora
Shouts like hes gonna save Sodom and Gomorrah

Workin for the circus ex-railroad bum
Carnival barker for kingdom dot come
Dusty ol Gibson, opposable thumb
Bangs out the rhythm on a fifty gallon drum

Sittin in a corner with his pet muskrat
Tossin his cards into an old mans hat
He grins at the girls and they always grin back
He bets an old waltz he could get em in the sack

He makes his own music from the bell of a bone
A waitress' falsie and a railroad phone
Bobs on his knees to an old tarantella
South of the border he stole it from a fella

His triple jointed juke fingers splay like a scarecrow
He kneels down and whistles to a fallen sparrow
His eyes light up when they wheel in a piano
He reads a dirty joke out of an old Baptist hymnal

He wears a tuxedo made of sackcloth and ashes
Has a tattoo of a girl who can bat her eyelashes
Down on the river he was fishin' with a sword
He knocked off John the Baptist for a word from the Lord

He takes his coffee with the blood of a turnip
Blushes his cheeks with an Amsterdam tulip
Choppin up a rooster for a Pulitzer prize
If the gravy don't getcha, hell getcha with his eyes, don't wait

I suppose some of the fear behind #nevertrump is that Trump represents permission to put away the nice guy.

Do we fear our own people more than we do external threats or anything else?

Lem the artificially intelligent said...

I unfollowed Trump.

If I'm going to be complaining about his tweets, it's the least I can responsibly do.

Lem the artificially intelligent said...

I'm not saying I wont vote for him.

I'm saying I'm not volunteering to keep the Trump train running on time... or something.

chickelit said...

Yes Lem, we probably do fear our own more than external threats. It explains so much. For example how the same people who bash Christians relentlessly are blissfully unaware/unconcerned about radical Muslims. There's probably an aphorism somewhere capturing the notion.

I'm heading to Wisconsin next week, I'm bringing my trumpometer to make some measurements. I'm also bringing problems home to look for solutions. They are very pragmatic people.

Lem the artificially intelligent said...

Here is the latest example of that.

The craziness fuels Trumps rise.

chickelit said...

The craziness behind that craziness fuels Hillary's rise. Hillary people are media people.

chickelit said...

A plurality of Wisconsin Republican voters rejected Trump in favor of Ted Cruz. I want to find out what they are thinking now...whether they are ready to capitulate to Hillary. I'm not getting answers to those questions anywhere else.

"I'm not getting answers to those questions anywhere else."

It's a good thing the vote still via secret ballot.

rc, I am pleased to know more about you. What part of the country were you raised? I chuckled about the Gregorian Chant. We had to learn a few in my religion class freshman year in high school. I felt like I was @ a funeral every class.

My fanstuff came later, when I got at least a little scrap of time to myself. ; )

1972 was that year for me -- the year I started working, delivering newspapers seven days a week. Sure it was only part-time -- an hour and a half each morning before school -- but it gave me spending money. Enough to buy a stereo and records and $6.50 Alice Cooper tickets.

I do love those three syllable names.

chickelit said...

The ones starting in "V".

I honestly thought you were dog-whistling the whole "vagina" thing and trying to bait me thereof, and, for that reason, I launched the in-three-syllable riff.

I haven't tried "baiting" you in a long, long time. Maybe since the old Trooper York days (I'm recalling something about the musical "Oliver!" which I'd gathered that you disliked). But worse than that, I've been guilty of ignoring you and I'm sorry for that. I often time just don't know what to say or how to react.
