Would you like to have some fun? This is awful fun. If you are awful then this will be fun.
Last night a long video was posted by Deray live on Periscope as he walked along a highway in light rain. We do not see Deray but we hear him. He sounds like reasonable person as he walks along. He sounds like the type person you wouldn't mind knowing. He sounds like a good guy. He is describing the situation. Police are gathering and telling them to stay off the road so they do. The road narrows to shoulder, no sidewalk, so the line of people compresses as well as possible without interfering with traffic. Deray becomes a bit alarmed when too many police appear behind him. He shows the police cruiser headlights through the rain aiming the wrong way on the highway at them through the line of protesters. Then suddenly Deray is arrested from behind and a woman takes his phone and continues. The women are screaming confused and angry and heartbroken and feeling abused again as they've done nothing wrong.
He'd been tagged. Deray was marked to be pulled out when he's spotted.
Apparently he was told previously not to be seen protesting on the highway or he'd be arrested.
The video is poor quality and my connection even worse. It stopped for me five times before I gave up with it. It's on Periscope and it's was being viewed by around 90,000 people each time it shut off. It's just people walking along the highway. A decent protest.
Blacks across the country are terribly upset their point is not being taken. People on Twitter are awful in not caring about that. I just now noticed this hashtag trending #DerayIsInJailParty.
Why a party? It's Deray's birthday. It's why they think "party" is funny because he's having his birthday party in jail.
Usually the people I follow will say something somewhat annoyingly intellectual, something they expect you to grasp by your shared education, something like, [I'm waiting for Letters from Baton Rouge] and not let onto their glee if they feel it. But this hashtag is in your face. The posters just flatly don't care who takes offense. They're having fun with racial anguish. They go to giphy and search [trump] and find an animated gif of Trump that they like and post it with their Twitter message: Pulling up to the Deray in Jail Party is like:
This is the level our discourse descended, and I have to admit it cracked me up.
Recommended this bright Sunday morning Twitter hashtag #DerayisinJailParty.

Deray is said to be sporting "a smug contemptuous smile".
I am guessing no cake for Deray today (well maybe when he gets out)?
STAY WOKE
Sure.
Trump's goof-ball faces - why he cannot win reason # 532.
April, you are starting to get almost RedState in your Trump criticism. What good does it do?
You made your point, Trump is not your first choice. So if he is better than Clinton (as you have said) what's the point of keep criticizing him?
It is almost like you have a crush on ed and just want to give him an excuse to pull your hair.
Deranged is this decade's Stokeley Carmichael.
Jail is where he belongs.

April's goofball ideas - he's throwing it to her.
MAKE AMERICA SAFE AGAIN. That is what's gonna win this. Just like '68.
And on another continent, Pissy defends the MN rioters.
That's the way to help Hillary, all right.
PS More news the Uni-Party is in trouble, Ryan at 43 in poll 1 month out.
Dump Trump, or lose. That's all. It's not too late.
Sure.
Who do you want?
Little Marco, who couldn't carry his own state, or the One True Ted, that nobody can stand?
Ben Carson already thinks Trump's da man, so you're outta luck there.
I know, bring your buddy, Rand. Just keep him from talking foreign policy.
Anybody is better than the fraud.
The Republican party thought otherwise.
Unless you're speaking of the One True Ted. He's the real fraud.
April wants somebody who'll go around screaming and foaming at the mouth like her. No goofy faces, though, even if it's a video 20 years old. We must look Presidential like Hillary.
PS For those who are paying attention, riots in St Paul, Baton Rouge, San Antonio last night, cops shot in GA and MO.
Who's talking about keeping the country safe and who's still saying, "I did nothing improper"?
Ed, you are obsessed with Cruz as much as April is about Trump
No, but we're all supposed to be panicked about the prospect of Trump as nominee.
The only one to get even close to him in delegates was Cruz and that was partly by cheating, but he was the One True Conservative, we were told and coulda, woulda, shoulda been.
I keep asking, OK, how would he beat Hillary if he couldn't get the nod; if people, once they saw him, didn't like him. I never get any answers. And, um..., certain people think that somebody who was ahead of her 5 months ago would be doing OK now. And I keep asking how, if they couldn't even finish first in any states.
You want somebody else, you'd better be able to answer those questions and not just say, "He's going to throw it to her", because you've decided that, because he said something nice about the junior Senator of his state rather than pick a fight with a corrupt, vindictive witch that could destroy him, because she and her rapist husband crashed his wedding, you've decided you hate him for reasons even you can't articulate.
Sorry, dude, you want to dump the guy - and all the people who voted for him - to give the nomination to some Uni-Party type who really will hand it to her, you need to answer those questions.
The best I've ever gotten out of certain people is pee up a rope.
Brilliant.
EBL, I believe you asked why Lavish/Diamond videoed the slow death of her driver.
Here's your answer.
So far, the bereaved family has raised in 3 accounts on Go-Fund-Me (managed by BlackLives)
Valerie Castile (mother*) $163,674
Allysza (sister) $60,939
Lavish/Diamond Reynolds $30,294
* second degree assault, fraudulently obtaining public assistance; misdemeanor convictions for theft (three times), prostitution, DUI and public nuisance; and a 3-year-term in federal prison for felony forgery
One man crime wave leaves this mortal coil, friends and family hear only "Cha ching!" - lovely folks.
I don't think Philanderer was a skell. He seems to be a working man who got caught up with and unfortunate twist who has a bit of a past. He does seem to strongly resemble the guy on the tape robbing the convenience store. That doesn't mean the cop was justified in shooting him.
So far they can not verify if he has a carry license. It also seems he was not stopped for a traffic violation but simply because he strongly resemble the robbery suspect and Jose Jimenez was a Mexican Jumping Bean with a Glock.
It seems it was a tragedy all around. What a waste.
A lot, I grant you, is still unknown, but what we have isn't the picture of a model citizen.
Stopped 52 times and assessed $6500 in fines and fees assessed (more than half of the total 86 violations were dismissed).
This is not just some unlucky guy. And, as Troop has told us he doesn't drive (in Gotham, I can understand), I have to say something was going on; nobody gets stopped 52 times without doing something to warrant it. There is much more here than we know. Now, whether it's being suppressed by the cops, or by the politicians (we are talking Minnesnowta here) and judges who let this guy slide on PC grounds, we have yet to find out. Mom's rap sheet is above, so the family influences weren't the best.
Also, as far as we know, the cop did not have any record of abuse. Of course, a Mexican shooting a black guy puts all the Demos on the spot because somebody's constituency gets thrown under the bus.
And, in the larger picture of why this guy is Our Felon of the Summer, we now know Hillary has the answer. It's all white people's fault and we need to change.
Rant from April about why Trump isn't saying anything (although she's called me a racist for bringing all this up) to follow.
ed where do you come up with this shit: "Sorry, dude, you want to dump the guy - and all the people who voted for him - to give the nomination to some Uni-Party type who really will hand it to her, you need to answer those questions."
That is April's schtick, go pull her hair. Please no not make up crap about me.
Trump is the nominee. I keep saying it all the time and tell people like April they might as well resign themselves to that. The GOP will not pull a coup, nor should it.
Your continuing obsession with Ted Cruz is odd, but last I heard he is going to the convention to give a speech for Trump. That is better than Mitt Romney and many of the other establishment tools.
And if Castille is a working dude who got gunned down by an overly nervous cop (we need to verify that), this is a good wedge issue for the NRA to use against the gun grabbers.
ed, here is the thing, Unless you are like me and just like to drive fast, if you are poor (black or white), you get pulled over more. Drive a shitty car through any suburban neighborhood (being black makes it worse) and you get pulled over. If a cop does stop you, just to give you the once over for license, insurance and registration, chances are he will give you a ticket. Come on, it is not hard to hand out tickets. We all know cops have quotas (even if they pretend they don't) and they like to give them to people less likely to complain to the chief.
So before you get all judgmental about traffic citations, you might consider it being you behind that wheel.
Here is the thing ed, that most of those stops were dismissed tells you something too. They were probably bogus. Judges do not left scoff laws off (generally) but they do recognize the difference between driving 20 mph over in a school zone and some minor infraction. You assume given all the stops, if there is smoke there's fire. But what if it isn't that, it is just some working guy (who a $150 ticket really hurts) just getting pulled over all the time for BS tickets.
I am no fan of Obama, but driving while black is a real thing. Also driving while poor.

OK, one last time, you asked why I bring up Cruz, I told you. There are people like April so unhinged they think they can dump the candidate who got the most delegates fair and square and win. they're deluding themselves, but that's life.
I was speaking to you in that answer, not her. And you seem more obsessed with Cruz than I am. I use him because, duh, he got the most delegates after Trump and the NeverTrumpers glommed onto him as their standard bearer. I assume that, if Trump were cast aside, Cruz would be the guy they wanted to replace him.
Beat me with a wet noodle for being logical. And pardon me for using the impersonal you.

I don't know how it is in WI, but here in OH, you don't get a ticket just to show the cop your license. And you don't get pulled over in a nice neighborhood just because the car is all rust. A lot of cars here are, may I add - you may get asked if you have business here, but you don't get a ticket. Madison may be different.

$6500 in fines is not minor. And how many of the dismissals were warranted - how many Lefty judges saw a POC and an abusive cop, regardless of the facts? It swings both ways.
PS Driving while white in a black area is also a reality. Life's tough.
Deal with it.
I have a different perspective than most of youse. You see I never drove a car. Only took drivers ed but let my license laspe because I didn't want to be tempted to drive. So I don't have any experience as a driver.
I do have extensive experience as a passenger. What always troubles me is how fast people go. How they ignore speed limits and run red lights late a night. Relatives and friends who are driving us always will do something like that. With Uber drivers I have some control. I always tell them not to speed or take chances. Slow is fine I just want to get where I am going safely. That is where Uber has it all over yellow cabs. Usually the yellow cab driver is renting the cab and starts out in the hole. He has to make around $300 a day before he starts to see any money. So they are always hopped up and want to go as fast as possible to make as much money as possible. Uber is not like that.
I don't know what this driving record indicates one way or another. I was at a bachelor party recently in Long Island filled with drunken Irish guys. I decided to do a survey. Just about everyone of them had a DUI and tons of tickets and suspended licensees. These were white working class guys. The cops didn't pull them over because they were black. They pulled them over because they had shit cars and were weaving all over the road.
I am going to Long Island tonight and will be driving up Atlantic Avenue through some rough black neighborhoods like Crown Heights, Bed Stuy and East New York. I will see a ton of traffic violations. Speeding. Going through lights and Stop signs. Every other driver does something that can get him pulled over.
I don't know how you guys do it. Give me the train or the bus anyday. Or Uber with a Moslem driver. At least if he is going to kill me it is only because he is a terrorist not a lousy driver.
I will tell you one thing. I ain't getting in a car driven by a cow. Especially when I know he likes to speed. Jeez.

I'm sure rules are different in the city because cops have a lot more business. Out here, we have a couple of towns that depend on tickets for their revenue.
Yeah, drivers are weirder these days than even a few years ago, but, at some point, you learn to cool it. Part of the reason insurance rates drop for guys over 25 is the urge to push the envelope drops significantly.
From my own commuting experience, suburban Akron to Suburban Cleveland and Philadelphia burbs to NE Philly, I can tell you the cops do have better things to pull you over, rather let you go if you're not endangering anyone.

Funny story. Back during the bad old days of Rev Al and Freddy's Fashion Mart (can't remember the neighborhood where the black guy was running across the expressway and got killed), a news reporter got a black guy to stop and asked him how he felt being a black man driving through that neighborhood and he said, "Like a white man driving through Harlem".
Now there's a guy I'd vote for.
I don't know how you guys do it. Give me the train or the bus anyday
I usually used public transit to get to the IRS and I have to agree.
I guess I should know who Deray is? Is he one of this election season's halfass potentates?
He's on Twitter a lot.
An "activist" for Freddie Gray. Y'know, the "innocent" "murdered" by 6 cops that caused rioting in Baltimore.
He's now on the city payroll to the tune of 165 Gs as the 6 cops proceed to walk after the "murder" was found to be bogus.
I did not know DeRay looks like that. I was shown a picture of a white guy with blue eyes and odd hair, an activist. DeRay looks normal. But that picture, with his stay woke is too too perfect. This is staged, bought and paid for, backed by an angel.
A big fat ugly oily pox-riddled angel barred from entry to several advanced nations.
Your driving conversation is funny.
It reminded me of Jeff Dell when he was young. He'd drive home at night and to his stable where his horses are kept and raced the back roads some of them dirt roads and he was stopped a lot. This was before cell phones, before laptops, before internet, when things were normal.
He played, "What me? I can't hear anything, I can't hear how fast I'm going, I can't hear the wind, I didn't know." and he really poured it on pantomiming innocence and confusion, and helplessness, and being handicapped, and singular, uniquely unable to discern his speed. And somehow all that nonsense combined with his surfer boy adorableness put the cop's mind off Jeff using his speedometer and he got off from citations more than any other person that I know. He talked himself out of more tickets than anybody. More than twenty. All on different back roads, all different cops, all different times of day but mostly dawn dusk, he was working the night shift. He liked night shift best and stayed there his entire career at the FRB once he transferred to nights. It fit his withdrawal from socializing. He went from the most social person I know to the most non-social person I know having decided he strongly prefers the company of horses.
And he's no longer cute so the speeding ticket thing doesn't work anymore.
ed, I did not realize you were projecting at April. My bad.
As for your point if you are white in a black neighborhood, chances are you are some suburban kid trying to score drugs. Do you think they are there for the jazz? If you want a job if you are black, chances are you have no choice but to drive to a white neighborhood, since that is where the jobs are.
I do not have a grudge for my speeding tickets--frankly I was speeding. I am always very nice to cops when they stop me, I may even flash an utter if I think it will help. I got more in my "ute" when I drove a shitty car but ironically my utter was in better shape back then. In my old age I have slowed down (a bit) and gotten less tickets.
DUI's are a whole different thing that driving citations. Those are serious and you deserve what you get. They escalate quickly.
Thousands in traffic citations (if they don't involve DUIs) are unfortunately common in poor communities. You get behind on a few tickets, then you can't get insurance (or pay crazy rates to maintain the minimum). It can be a vicious circle. A lot of communities (Ferguson btw was one of them) made a point of giving out as many tickets as possible to raise revenue (as opposed to merely make the roads safer).
Just don't assume a guy deserves to be shot dead just because he has a bunch of traffic citations.
I wasn't projecting at April, but you seem to be. Or your reading skills are worse than hers.
You'd be surprised how many times, to get to some place in a big city, you have to go through a black area.
I take it, in the Badger State, everyone stops and watches as a black person passes by, they're that rare.
