1. Stop fighting with everyone and don’t be so nasty. When you tweet unflattering pictures of Senator Cruz’s wife and threaten to “spill the beans” about her, question Ben Carson’s faith, offer to pay the legal bills of those who engage in violence, fault POWs, or accuse President Bush of being a liar, you push away voters you need to get to 50 percent.
2. Get your facts right. Think about how much stronger you would be if you supported your statements with accurate facts or anecdotes. If you had said “a small group” of Muslims cheered from rooftops in New Jersey on September 11th, no one could have faulted you. Same thing when you say we “send nothing” to Japan, or when you misstate the trade deficit with China. You often fudge up your poll numbers too. You regularly show that facts are malleable to you, and that raises doubts about your substantive knowledge on all sorts of matters.
3. Learn more policy. Your comments about abortion were a double-edged disaster. You alienated everyone. They showed you are not familiar with the background of an important emotional issue. Anyone aware of Right to Life’s thinking knows, mothers are not criminals. You need to take the time to learn a variety of issues. You might think everyone in Washington is stupid, but there are a lot of smart people in that town who actually care about issues and you should find the ones you trust and listen to them. No one expects you to memorize arcane policy points. But it will be harder for you to reach 50 percent if voters think you can’t demonstrate sufficient knowledge to sit in the Oval Office.
4. Make policy announcements. You’re an outsider with business experience and people want to hear what you would do if elected, beyond building a wall. On energy policy, corporate welfare, agriculture policy and dozens of other matters, you would surprise people and grow your support if you gave a small number of actual policy addresses. The point will be less what you say about each specific matter (so long as you demonstrate some level of fluency and expertise) and more that you’re capable of doing it. Some one-third of the Party supports you because they think you’re tough. You would make inroads with other voters if they thought you were thoughtful.
5. Stop citing polls. Politicians who talk about polls do so to show the election is all about them. But elections are not about politicians. Elections are about the hopes and dreams of the voters and especially now, voters want someone who can lift up our country, defend us, and grow the economy. I get that you talk about the polls to show you’re a winner. But if and when you start losing more contests, the polls will define you as a loser. What will you talk about then? It’s better to knock it off now. And of course, all the recent polls show you are losing to Hillary.
You got yourself to where you are today by demonstrating an uncanny, powerful, outsider’s bravado. But the gap between 40 percent and 50 percent support is immense. The higher hanging fruit is tough to get, and you won’t likely earn that support if you stay on your current path.
The Super Tuesday news conference you held at Mar-A-Lago and your policy speech (on a TelePrompter) to AIPAC were your two best moments demonstrating there is more to you than bravado.

My derision for Trump is well established. My derision for people like Ari Fleischer and his ilk is just about the same.
Fleischer wasn't much use when the Lefties started attacking Dubya over Iraq and "torture".
He also sounds like one of the consultants who managed Jeb!
One of the things people like about Trump is the fact he doesn't just stand there and take it with a stupid smile on his face. He fights back.
Some of the stuff Fleischer says about getting control of the debate do make sense. Be specific about what's wrong with the One True Ted, don't just sound angry. (the Washington Times described his characterization of Cruz as a "Trojan horse" as "whining", but it was one of his better hits on the guy because it's true and succinct).
With that in mind, interesting piece from Last Refuge on how all those PAC to PAC money transfers in which the Cruz campaign has participated may violate FEC rules.
Looks like a few more holes in the Anointed One's halo.
He's a dick and his supporters like his dick-i-ness. just ignore all that - Trump. Lose to Hillary being a dick! you can do it!
I've always been partial to Fleischer. And Dana Perino. She's really come into her own. She gets her points across without being flashy.
Ms. Apple, look at the header...you're not at Insty :)
No, He'll win because he fights. Hillary is a lousy candidate who can't even beat Bernie.
April would rather the One True Ted because he's the sellout, but he couches it in a veneer of civility.
Well, we have an interesting dichotomy here.
When a couple of protesters heckled the One True Ted yesterday, he made a speech about standing with the cops, but, a month ago, when Dr Evil's minions suppressed Trump's right of free speech, Daddy Cruz stood with the creeps.
Lessee now, who was it got the Border Patrol's endorsement?
All good advice as long as he doesn't go so far as to homogenize himself and become just another cookie cutter candidate. One that is bland and prepackaged by handlers.
Part of the attraction to Trump is that he is NOT just another processed politician.
. Politicians who talk about polls do so to show the election is all about them. But elections are not about politicians. Elections are about the hopes and dreams of the voters and especially now, voters want someone who can lift up our country, defend us, and grow the economy.
This. The polls are nice. But people want to hear what are you going to do for US.
Ed, Fleischer's right, he has to close that gap. Americans love a fighter, and loves someone who tries to do better.
Trump fights like a Tabloid.
or a hemorrhoid
DBQ:
"All good advice as long as he doesn't go so far as to homogenize himself and become just another cookie cutter candidate. One that is bland and prepackaged by handlers."
ZERO danger of that!
That's better, April lol.
Shorter Ari Fleisher. Be nice. Be more like Mitt. Act more like W. Take the hits and shrug them off. You know. Act like a loser.
Hillary Clinton is not nice. She is not going to act nice. This is going to be a dirty campaign.
Ted Cruz isn't nice. He has been a dirty campaigner from the beginning. The crap he pulled on Ben Carson is just the tip of the ice berg. You are not going to win over the ultra conservatives by kissing Ted's ass. You can win over some conservatives by pushing big issues that are important to us like immigration and trade.
I doubt there are two more conservative voices here than Sixty Grit, edutcher and me. I think that we support Trump. There are plenty of grass roots conservatives who will support him if he goes at our issues in a plain unvarnished direct populist way. We lose squishes like bags and April. But we will pick up plenty of disaffected working class Democrats who hate Hillary. An election is the building of a coalition. This election is not really going to be left vs. right. It is upper class vs. lower class. It is a class election not a ideology election.
1. Stop fighting with everyone and don’t be so nasty.
2. Get your facts right.
3. Learn more policy.
4. Make policy announcements.
5. Stop citing polls.
Much of that sounds like the stuff fed to Jeb!
Now maybe it's a guy thing (Troop will be along to 'splain this so much better), but somebody tries to inject your wife's career into the debate, few guys are going to respect you if you don't answer it (Trump did and Melania's picture only shows up here). I'd also remind everyone Reagan had a similar gender gap (spare me the romanticizing, April) because he took a hard line with the Commies and the crazies. Maybe Trump's the last guy candidate, I don't know.
I can go along with being more specific when you attack somebody and nail them for what they are. If I were advising Trump, I'd make that McConnell check a YUGE issue, one the Cruzzers can't ignore.
Like it or not, Trump is the focus of a big media blitz the way Reagan was. Fleischer advocates, for the most part, what Rove advised Dubya when the media went after him. It didn't work. Trump could fight a bit smarter, I'm the first one to say it, but, if he stops fighting and turns into Jeb!, he's done.
As I say, maybe it's a guy thing.
Some of Trumps positions resonate even with much more liberal people. Ritmo has said that Trumps positions on the endless wars in the Middle East resonates with him. Not a conventional position for a Republican. But I remember Pat Buchanan talking about the fact that young Americans like Patrick Murphy and Leroy Brown were going to die to protect the House of Saud.
That speaks to a lot of people across ideological lines.
Just as the Paddy's said about the civil war. It is a rich man's war and a poor man's fight.

Hemorrhoids can be tough, tenacious little shits.
Melania's picture only shows up here because we love her so.
Trooper at one twenty: I think it's obvious Trump needs to bring his A game now. Fleischer's right, he need to close that ten point gap. He's in no way saying be a Mitt, he's saying dial it down, straigten up, and fly right.
All of you need to go back and look at the debate when hillary was running for the senate seat in New York against Rick Lazio and that now infamous point in the debate when Lazio left his lectern and approached her personage and invaded her 'personal space' (as if there is such a thing) and everyone became indignant and it cost Lazio the Senate seat even though Lazio won most of the state, he still got nailed when he lost to her 57 to 43, but she used that invasion of personal space as a sexist, misogynist clarion call and rode it all the way to the senate and now she's going to Lazio anyone who is the Republican Nominee. She's already doing it and her lapdog media is helping her.
Trump doesn't help himself in that regard. The attacks on various women, whether justified or not, won't ingratiate a favorable point of argument. He needs to study Clinton and attack her on policy and decision making points. Her lack of any accomplishments while in any position in office she's held. That's where he will make traction or anyone else for that matter. She'll try to swing it as an attack on herself and her gender, but a smart man will basically put a stop to that without being called a sexist for trying to stop her from doing it. Let her say her piece then destroy her character and her career. It's not that hard to do. I'm doing it in my head right now and typing it out to all of you. I can do it in an entire post that I'd happily send to any campaign. It's just not that hard to destroy her, but candidates will trip over their own dicks to fuck it up.
Both Cruz and Trump should be attacking Hillary now, constantly and consistently. Put the focus back on her lack of skill, achievement, or personal character. Start now instead of making bravado statements of how you will do it. JUST DO IT.
Trump cannot really attack her corruption. Being that he used the same avenues to enrich himself.
Of course he is saying be a Mitt. Or be a W. Or be a Walker. You know. Usual Republican consultant bullshit.
To your own self be true.
Win women on the issues. If not not. He can win the same percentage of women as Mitt and get a whole lot more men that hate Hillary. If Trump plays it right then only men she will get are gays, pajama boys and betas like Lawnboy.
You don't get a womans vote by acting like a woman.
Great advice. Also, kinda obvious. (Stop being nasty, learn some policy, get your facts right.) How this has not occurred to Trump previously is ... rather mysterious. There really is so much natural talent there as a pitchman. People like the guy. I like the guy. He and Sanders are the relateable candidates. Which is weird since they're both, in their own individual ways, such Martians. Well, Trump is from Mars, Sanders is from Uranus. (Cheap shot, AM. Hurtful and uncalled for.) I doubt Trump will change. That personality, the good and the bad, is permanently imprinted. Same with Sanders.
I have had a feeling of foreboding ever since Trump surged to frontrunner. I think his nomination will be a disaster. DIZAZTER. Ugh.
Apparently, I will be going down with this ship, though. I will not passively elect Hillary.
I request violins!
Ari's advice. Be a phony. Try to be something you are not.

I think a lot of people say that, but without any proof to the contrary. Notice how no one is asking Trump to release his taxes anymore. Notice how a lot of things are being asked or highlighted anymore. Just goes to show you who is driving the presidential campaign, The Media.

DARCY!!! Good to see you back. Hope you are well. Stop being a stranger. I miss Synova too.
Trooper:
"You don't get a womans vote by acting like a woman."
Give me a break. Becoming conversant on issues is not being womanish. The punishing-women-for-abortion thing was an unforced error, regardless of whether you think she should be or not, it was not politic. He needs a list of issues to become conversant on. Unless he learns from his mistakes, he'll just be Palin on steroids.
Darce :)
Seriously debbie. Women don't care about the issues. They care about feelings.
Ari's first piece of advice. Be nice.
Stop being nasty, learn some policy, get your facts right is phony? Nah. Basic civility and knowledge about the job for which you are applying is not asking for a personality change. It may be asking too much in Trump's case. He's gotten a lot of mileage out of the personality he has so I don't think he's going to go changin'. Too bad.
I see.
I seem to recall Hillary said something on abortion that got her in trouble. Bernie didn't want to hear about her emails.
Anybody who speaks in public can be taken down by somebody for "offending" them. And Trump probably is more conversant on issues than most of us, but he understands your average working stiff is not interested in a position paper. That the media went into a tizzy has more to say about how scared they are of him.
Which is one of the good things to be said about him.
BTW most Lefties make dumb statements all the time. The media just covers for them.
Calling them like he sees them has gained him loyalty from a lot of people. He doesn't come across like a Cruz.

Translation: be a doormat.
And Troop is right about the feelings thing.
And the be nice. Republicans are nice. And they get pushed around a lot.
When Dubya decided to fight that FL count, he earned the lifelong hatred of the Left. He wasn't "civil" and he wasn't nice.
But he was right and he won. Look at the Demos, they're never nice, but they win.
We're a bit off the tracks here, Ari said don't be nasty. Do you want him to close the ten percent gap or not?
You can't be civil to Hillary. You can't let her get away with her bullshit. She is going to paint you as a racist/sexist/war monger. Fuck that noise.
She is a crook, thief, incompetent, physically ill liar. You need to say that every day. She doesn't get a pass because she is a woman.
It doesn't matter about Hillary if he doesn't get the nod. He can clean her clock if he makes it to the general...but CANNOT make her cry. See the difference?
He seems to be attracting a lot of Reagan Democrats.
And blacks.
And Hispanics.
And, if I recall, his numbers for men and women in WI were equal.
So maybe all those nice, civil people who want to hold their noses and vote for Hillary won't even be missed.

Exception that proves the rule. Reagan.
Not really. "I have just signed a law outlawing Russia. The bombing begins in 2 minutes". "Mr Gorbachev, tear down this wall". "I am PAYING for this microphone". "We win, they lose".
I've come around to the bigshot NYers meme about class. This race is about class. And ain't nobody got a fucking lick of it! A classless election.
Kasich does, I think, in an aw shucks sort of way.
It depends on what you definition of nasty is.
Is talking about the women that Bill Clinton raped nasty?
Is talking about how Hillary trashed because they accused Bill of harassment or even rape something nasty to talk about?
Even the Heidi Cruz thing is bullshit. Look once Trump retweeted that admittedly nasty photo there weren't anymore nasty Melania photo's. Trump didn't make Heidi walk out into traffic. Thats on Teddy.
One last point on "civility".
Before Katrina Pierson "spilled the beans" on Heidi Cruz, by laying out her resume - and nothing else, Trump told Cruz make sure his wife's picture is never used again.
Guess what?
It hasn't.

Trump needs 50% of the remaining delegates to get the nod.
Daddy Cruz needs 80%. If we don't hear the full story of Amanda and Sarah and Katrina and the DC escorts and the Dallas escorts first.
The only reason we're having this conversation is because the NeverTrump machine, which is almost 100% Lefty, is pulling out all the stops to destroy the guy. They're that afraid of him.
I haven't seen anything like this since 1980.
What advice would you give him?
If that's your translation of "basic civility" ("be a doormat"), that explains a lot.
Hi Darcy. Love your comment.
<anecdote alert>
In line at Torchy's nobody looks at the menu while waiting. Their tacos are listed: Democrat, Republican, Independent. I handed a menu to the adorable couple behind me. As they're reading I point the area on the page and say, "Their tacos are political." Looking up from the menu the man said, "Guess we'll have to go Independent." He answered from the real world not the taco menu world. I line with a stranger he allowed casual disgust with both parties without saying it. I thought that was interesting. A political poll right there without even trying. The Independent taco is worst of them all. The least satisfying taco. Democrat is the best beef. And Republican is sausage. I think Independent is breaded portobello mushroom.
[The young woman of the couple ahead of me has a much more interesting news feed than I do. Reading her scroll I kept thinking, Damn, I gotta do a lot better. Hers is interesting, mine is not.]
Double down on who you are. By that I mean talk like a normal guy in a normal way. Talk about how the "experts" want to get us in more wars and more trade agreements and more immigration that doesn't put America first. Attack the media even more. When you have a problem with a women like Michelle Fields or Megyn Kelly use sexual jujitsu on them.
Oh wait Michelle you got jostled. You got pushed out of the way. Just like every guy who is in the scrum. Sorry. You are a woman. You are entitled to special treatment. So I would suggest you only come to press conferences where everyone is sitting down. Because if you want equality you get equality. I pay my female executives the same way I pay the dudes. Not like Hillary or Obama. But they don't ask for "special snowflake" treatment. I have more respect for women then that.
Real men know how to spell their own names.
Be specific when you attack him. Give concrete examples.
Remind people of his resume. Hit that McConnell check hard.
And one thing on the abortion remark. He almost immediately walked it back. Akin tried to defend it. Difference? Trump isn't as obdurate as some like to think.
Get Melania and Ivanka out there a lot. They're both bright, intelligent women. Also get Ivana out there if you can - she's very sharp. If your ex-wife still has good things to say about you (and she does), women will notice.
PS Even MSLSD has noticed what a dud Cruz is in the Big Apple.
This does not bode well for the rest of Magalopolis.
Of course he lost Wisconsin. The home state of beta's. Lawnboy is the state bird.
Sexual jujitsu? Do hold classes in that at the rec center? Catch you on the flip-flop, Sensei.
Bush followed that advice. He left office with a less than 35% approval.
What advice would you give him?
Concentrate on Hillary. Remind everyone about Nafta and Gatt and the loss of US manufacturing. . Remind everyone of Somalia, Kosovo Lybia and Syria. Remind everyone that her policies resulted in the refugee mess. Demand to know who her husband is dating nowadays.
Oh Ed, You Don't Mean have women fight his battles for him. Pajama boy territory.
Good answer, Amp.

I agree, Ed, he did walk it back and that was responsible. He threw dude under the bus for that gal being jostled. There is a fine line between telling it like it is, and being nasty. He's learned his lesson, I'll wager.
And his AIPAC speech was a real hit. He CAN do this.
They wouldn't be fighting for him. They would be testifying for him. Ivanka can testify that she is his right hand. Not her brothers. Trump trusts women. He puts them in positions of authority with equal pay. I thought that was important. Not a mean photo of Heidi.
Facts not feelings. Right?

In what way?
He stood by Lewandowski. They furnished the video and everybody saw it was a joke (I done worse trying to get off the Market Street El and the bus to Bridge and Pratt). The woman never even lost her balance, much less fell.
He's reduced his profile, likely because he understands the guy's going to be a target now.
If we're talking about 2 different things, let me know.
Not sure who Fin really is, but he's got something of a point.

Hi Methadras, Chip and deborah!
This election is a humdinger so far, eh? ;)
I'm disappointed that I didn't get to watch Carly (my girl crush!) go after Hillary a little longer. At least if Trump gets the nom, the debates should be a hoot. Pass the popcorn.
Look. I'm about a conservative on most issues as any one. Somethings I guess I'm liberal or just don't give a fig about the issue.
Taking this guy's advice in moderation is not the same a being a pussified Romney type of politician. You can be true to yourself and smooth out a few of the edges. The idea is to WIN. Trump has a core of supporters who like him with the rough edges. The goal is to garner some of those who are on the fence and WIN. A small shift in tactics isn't going to mean becoming other than yourself.
1. Stop arguing with everyone. Good advice. Pick your battles and make it so that YOU are the winner. Defend your wife from attacks. Yes. People will like that. Gratuitously attacking someone who is out of the race ....waste of your time and energy. Be strategic on how you attack but...DO attack.
2.Facts. This is a biggie for me. The facts and not exaggerations. When you over state your case, exaggerate, make huge sweeping generalities you open yourself up to counter attacks. People can disagree with your statements, but if you are factual you WIN.
3 and 4. Policy. We want to hear more. We don't need the gory details or the minutia. That would actually turn people off, but your policies need to be coherent and shown that you have thought about the issues. You don't need to be really specific but something more than the same mantra over and over is not getting it. Built the wall and Mexico will pay for it. Good. Now Trump IS giving some more details and this is important. Learn the issues so when you are asked the gotcha questions....you have some answer or ability to repsond. BETTER YET. Don't answer those stupid gotcha and hypothetical questions. Just don't.
5. Go ahead and cite the polls because if you are ahead it makes everyone else who supports you also feel like a WINNER. But, too much reliance on the polls can bite you in the ass. If you go down in a particular poll and you have spent a lot of time relying on the polls, now they gotcha and you don't have a good response other than to whine that maybe it isn't fair. OK It ISN'T fair. Spend more time with the hopes and dreams of the people who are voting for you. We like to hear about US :-)
Keep on being Trump. Be unpredictable, amusing, direct, blunt, to the point, be the guy we liked in the first place. But realize you need to get the rest of the people to WIN.
Also....screw pandering to women. Women are not some sort of undifferentiated block of people who all march in lock step. I'm not in the least bit offended if Trump wants to call Rosie O'Donnell a fat pig or punch back at that glorified prom queen twit Kelly. When you are attacked do attack back. But do it in a way that doesn't diminish yourself.
WIN WIN WIN. This is the goal.
lol! Fin. Your ruse needs a little work! ;)
Darcy!
So I guess my relentless misogyny did not drive you away!
So nick was wrong again!

Most people are. The "pure" anything is usually a fanatic and you really don't want them near.
DBQ, You're missing the key component. At his very core, Trump is about ANGER!! Taking Ari's sanctimonious advice takes away this pony's one trick. ANGER! I despise both Doofus Donald and Arrogant Ari. But, for The Doofus, this is bad advice. If The Doofus backs off his ANGER just a pubic hair[chosen for a reason], then he loses the majority of his followers; ANGRY people, mostly Big Mac eating, Honey Boo Boo watching, w/m's. But, he may keep his women followers, like you.
if I was wrong, I am man enough to admit it. I'm not some Court St. pussy whipped, mama's boy who has to put on some draft dodger persona to act tough. I've worked the mean street, ass eyes. I didn't spend my career counting beans and selling bras. So, I have enough self esteem to admit if I'm wrong. I've done it many times. You see, I'm not always right like Walter Mitty.
Hey, Troop! Nah. Never. I just meandered away and time flew as it will.
So is "fin" Meade or Titus? The illiteracy doesn't really narrow it down.
So the idea is that you should listen to the suggestions of the chief minions of your bitterest enemy? Because of course he has your best interest at heart.
Nick. Often wrong but always certain.
Good thing you can admit you were wrong. I guess things get easier with practice.
Trump is about ANGER!! Taking Ari's sanctimonious advice takes away this pony's one trick. ANGER!
Not true at all. We are ALL angry. I like the anger and the derision he heaps on the Rinos, the Progressives and the stupid elites that have taken us down this path to ruin. It's about time that someone expressed our anger instead of telling us to suck it up and eat the shit sandwiches. If I could, I would love to punch them all in the nose. See them lined up against a wall...even.
Trump would not need to lose his anger if he changed those things. There are many ways to express anger. Some are constructive and some are not. Flailing around, throwing temper tantrums, exchanging juvenile personal taunts. Not constructive. Properly channeled anger is how you not only win, you bring to your side the rest of those, of us who are angry.
You don't have to back off of your anger. Use it wisely. Use it against your opponents. Be angry like a Patton. Be angry like a Churchill. Be angry and be effective.
Also, about being angry. The best result is the ultimate revenge you will get by channeling your anger into well planned and effective attacks. Smiling while you stick the knife (metaphorically that is). Nothing as satisfactory as dancing on the corpses of your enemies.

Your inner Klingon is showing.
Not to mention your inner Barbarianne.
Your maiden name wasn't Stalin, was it?
Well, The Doofus ain't no Patton, and he certainly isn't a Churchill. I would put The Doofus in the Howard Beale realm of ANGER. Beale tapped into the anger in the culture, and he was also a TV guy, like The Doofus. The Doofus hasn't won any military campaigns like Patton and he sure as hell didn't win any wars like Churchill. He did lose a TV job like Beale.
Is Fin being moderated or did he slink away?
Here, perhaps this is a better avatar.

This. Don't back down. Don't let her play the whiny feminist card. Boo hoo...woe is me...he attacked me and therefore all women. Bull... Hold her to the same standards as you would any other politician. Rake her over the coals and don't be afraid to bring up the hypocrisy of Hillary pretending to be a feminist when she was the one trying to destroy the lives of those women her slime of a husband raped or had affairs with.
Trump does not need to back down from his/our anger. Nor does he have to morph into a mealy mouthed Romneybot. Just use the anger wisely, strategically and be accurate with your statements. Pick the target, aim, and fire.
I like the ANGER your hero heaps on assholes. And, I LOVE seeing assholes in the MSM get ulcers over him. But, I am self disciplined enough to not take the fatal step and fall in love w/ my anger. I have had to control my anger in my profession. You use anger to channel and focus your energy. But, you should not EVER fall in love w/ your anger. NEVER.
DBQ, We agree, "Revenge is a dish best served cold." I have exacted revenge years, even decades later. The person never had a clue. I knew and NO ONE else knew. True self esteem allows you to exact your revenge quietly and anonymously, like you described.
Oh. Haha. He ran up against a buzzsaw.
Your maiden name wasn't Stalin, was it?
LOL
Nope. But I do come from a long line of Irish, Scots and Welsh and our battle cry or motto is "Let's GET the bastards!!!!"
An old joke:
The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats and have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved." Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross." The English have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies all but ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to a "Bloody Nuisance." The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was in 1588 when threatened by the Spanish Armada.
The Scots raised their threat level from "Pissed Off" to "Let's get the Bastards" They don't have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years.
The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide". The only two higher levels in France are "Collaborate" and "Surrender." The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France 's white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country's military capability. It's not only the French who are on a heightened level of alert. Italy has increased the alert level from "Shout loudly and excitedly" to "Elaborate Military Posturing." Two more levels remain: "Ineffective Combat Operations" and "Change Sides."
The Germans also increased their alert state from "Disdainful Arrogance" to "Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs." They also have two higher levels: "Invade a Neighbor" and "Lose".
Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual, and the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels.
The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy.
These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.
Americans meanwhile and as usual are carrying out pre-emptive strikes, on all of their allies, just in case.
And in the southern hemisphere...
New Zealand has also raised its security levels - from "baaa" to "BAAAA!".
Due to continuing defense cutbacks (the air force being a squadron of spotty teenagers flying paper aeroplanes and the navy some toy boats in the Prime Minister's bath), New Zealand only has one more level of escalation, which is "I hope Australia will come and rescue us".
Australia , meanwhile, has raised its security level from "No worries" to "She'll be right, mate". Three more escalation levels remain: "Crikey!', "I think we'll need to cancel the barbie this weekend" and "The barbie is canceled". So far no situation has ever warranted use of the final escalation level.
The problem w/ your advice for The Doofus is he can't calmly pick the target, aim and fire. He is purely shoot from the hip.
"She'll be right!" I love that. An Aussie aquaintance once toasted America in my presence using that phrase.

Well, The Doofus ain't no Patton, and he certainly isn't a Churchill.
nd, Patton wasn't all that great.
In France, he was assigned to protect First Army's and Seventh Army's flanks; in so doing, he had several glaring screwups only partly redeemed by his relief of Bastogne. He did a good job with II Corps in North Africa, but made an ass of himself when he was willing to undercut Mark Clark at Salerno.
He made himself sound more important than he was because he swore and made good copy with his bluster.
Nobody says Trump is another Churchill, but Trump has made his point on issues important to a lot of people. He's done more damage to PC and Hillary so far we can say he does get some results.
You don't have to like him, but, to paraphrase Darcy (if I'm allowed), you do not want to passively elect Hillary.

I only ask because of this quote, "To choose one's victim, to prepare one's plans minutely, to slake an implacable vengeance, and then go to bed. There is nothing sweeter in the world" .
When told that they would have to jump out of the plane at an altitude of 1,000 feet, half the Gurkha troops refused to go. It was then explained that they would have parachutes. Then they all agreed.
Impressive that half of them would have jumped regardless. They might just be a bit tougher than a Scotsman, and I say that as a Scots Irish right bastard from up in the mountains. Mountain Williams, if you please.
And will shall miss Fin - he was delightful. I hope he is able to wake the missus from her drunken stupor and tell her about his big adventure - she will tell him what a big boy he was!
And some of us don't believe in metaphors, Meade.
By his global deletions shall ye know him.
And also the super-nuanced and sophisticatered meatheadophors.
Nobody mentioned Clinton losing track of six billion dollars while SoS.
Isn't that a rather big deal? Mishandling and misallocation of resources. Unacceptable. That one thing right there should knock her out of contention. Then she demanded the reason for Benghazi was lack of necessary resources!
Her answer for herself in mismanaging billions of U.S. assets is giver her control of more U.S. assets. Fuck that. That is my highly demanded professional advice. Say, "Fuck that noise."
What happened to Fin? What was he saying? You know, when you erase yourself if you will select "remove permanently" then your names disappears too and all trace your remark ever existed. But Fin erased all his remarks. Wutup widat?
Fin is my favorite cartoon character of all time.
Except for maybe the two black birds Heckle and Jeckle.
I see Darcy is back. Hi Darce.
So you were wrong, spinelli, when you said she had been driven away by whatever you said drove her away which I can't remember but IT DIDN'T! So there.
I refer you to my earlier comment @ 3:53p, ricpic. IF I WAS WRONG, I will admit it. I don't know why Darcy is back. I am glad she is, and would never put her on the spot to explain.
I never said hi to Sixty when he came back because god knows what's going to set that Scotch-Irish cuss off!
ed, I am not a big fan of Patton. I had 2 uncles who fought under him and they hated him. I'm more a Bradley, Ike, guy.
ricpic, We know Bushmills sets off the Scotch-Irish. The Protestant ones anyway.
Well you clearly were wrong because she's back he he he.....
I liked Krazy Kat. I am still a big fan of the work of Milt Gross - his cartoon illustrations are top notch.
For those interested, if you want a little better insight into Donald Trump away from the campaign hype, Ann Coulter takes us back to '99, when he was sparring with Tim Russert.
Those who oppose him, but have the guts to read it may be surprised to find a more thoughtful and complicated man than they thought.
deborah, I think this is the man you want to see more of.
Thanks, ricpic, I cannot imagine what you could ever do to get on the fightin' side of me. You don't employ illegals, as far as I know, are not married to a drunken law prof, once again, as far as I know, and you struggle with house issues, so we are on the same page there.
So relax, my brother, we're cool. Unlike a couple of other mooks over here.
And Spins, my late Polish father-in-law fought under Patton - he thought the world of him. Above his bed he had two pictures - Jesus on the right, George S. Patton on the left.
Hey!
Did this become the no Fin zone?
Ed, yes, like in the Coulter article. Nuance.
I was just teasing about Melania, etc., campaigning with him. She is very cool, from what I've seen. And you must be doing something right if your first ex will stand up for you.
By the way, I think those are self-deletes. An admin would have been said deleted by administrator.
ricpic, "Clearly" is something only one person can state. And, that ain't you or me.
Now it is.

I get the impression that those who served in II Corps (North Africa) and Seventh Army (Sicily) had a lower impression of him than those who served in Third Army (France and Germany). Possibly because most of the men in the early Mediterranean campaigns were old soldiers (Regular Army and National Guard) and those in France were more likely to be newer enlistees.
YMMV
It's OK, deborah, but it's always a point worth exploring.
I think that piece could change a lot of minds, if only because of the exchange with Russert.
Sixty, One of my uncles was in the Battle of the Bulge. He was thought dead, started moving when they came through picking up bodies. He spent 6 months in a UK hospital and carried shrapnel in his body until he died. So..I think we can agree he had good reason to hate Patton. My other uncle[other side of the family] hated Patton for his showboating. Patton seems to be someone a soldier loved or hated.
You tell me, is this a campaign ad by Ryan?.
And I don't mean for the House.
Yes. Yes it is. Just shoot me.
Yep, ed, the F-i-L served in Europe, I am not certain exactly where, as he told various tales. He was raised in an Irish Christian Brothers orphanage as a child, there was a depression on and all, and he learned a bit o' the blarney while he was there and could weave a tale like a drunken banty son of the ould sod.
He had a facial scar that he claimed was a result of being hit by shrapnel. His fellow soldiers said that he was drunk and while trying to smuggle a bottle of wine back to camp, he fell, the bottle broke, and he got his battle scars.
He may have been at the Battle of the Bulge, his stories changed over time. I only knew him while he was working for New York State, intercepting smuggled cigarettes. He thought he was a cross between Serpico and Popeye Doyle, only without the car handling skills.
So yeah, he was a character, and I think those old time New Yorkers are all dying out.

Here, perhaps this is a better avatar.
Regarding Hillary and how to attack her. Methadras said: " She'll try to swing it as an attack on herself and her gender, but a smart man will basically put a stop to that without being called a sexist for trying to stop her from doing it. Let her say her piece then destroy her character and her career. It's not that hard to do.
I'll do one better. I'll put words in Trumps mouth if HRC ever decides to play the boo-hoo woe is me I'm just a girl being abused by a man card.
Trump: You are running for the highest office in the land. President of the United States of America, and you stand up here complaining that because you are a woman, that you shouldn't be attacked for it. That if anyone questions you, that you claim sexism and misogyny. How is that possible? How have you attained such power and whined so much about your gender on the road to being here, with me, on this stage, looking into the camera and facing the American Public and claiming that I'm beating you up because you're a woman? This is where the adults are at this level. This is where the professionals are at this level. You Madame, are not ready to be at this level. I am, because I hit back whenever I take a shot. What have you done whenever you or your record are criticized, you cry, you whine, you look for sympathy. Why? Why do you do that? You think that people looking at you right now are coming to your side when you do this? That they are going to be sympathetic to you for it?
You are asking them for your vote to be the leader of the free world and you wither if I mention your character, your accomplishments, or your gender. Are you going to do this with other world leaders? is this what has been going on during your tenure as SoS? Is this what the reset with Russia was about? Did you dither like this during Benghazi? So why are you doing it here, now? You're an adult, act like one. You want to be president, but you can't even muster the fortitude to hit back. /trump
This is how you attack HRC, then after this, you lay into her character, then you lay into her record and decimate her and it. You get into her head, you learn everything about her, you utterly destroy her without giving her an inch during her incoming interruptions. You talk past the bell, you talk past the moderator, you keep chugging on past everyone, even after they try to kick you off the stage if they even attempt that or shut off your mic. You literally shout it out if you have to. Once she is utterly withered and show the American people the contrast of you to her and what they will end up with her as POTUS. You stop, you smile, thank the audience, the American public for listening to you and remind them of their choices come 11/1/2016 and walk off the stage waving to everyone.
Leave the bitch hanging, let her whine and complain more. Let the cameras see her rent asunder. That's how it should be done Donald or Ted. This is how you do it.
If he was in the Bulge, he could have been in either First, Ninth, or Third Army.
Ninth was on the northern flank and reinforced First Army after it had been attacked.
I am pretty sure he was Third Army. But as I say, getting at the truth, even when he was alive, was not easy.
Third Army wasn't in the attacked sector. It was tasked with helping reduce the southern flank of the salient.
The first mission was III Corps to relieve Bastogne. XII and XX Corps attacked the southern flank more to the east.
The same scenario was applied to the northern flank.
The Cruzzers chortle over Trump's standing in the polls, but fewer Rs have voted for Daddy Cruz.
I saw this in a sidebar (else I wouldn't have gone near the place), but there's a lot of boo-hooing at PowerLine over the fact the Whigs have not warmed to the One True Ted.
One reason may be "backers of Marco Rubio are prominent among mainstream Republicans who aren’t supporting Cruz".
Remember how Rubio wanted to hang onto his delegates and the Cruzzers said it was to keep them from Trump?
Not so. I guess that old Cuban proverb was right.
How does Ryan/Rubio strike us.
Like a sack of wet noodles.
You have a way with words, ma'am.
Where's Troop when I need him?
Remember how he said he was told "New York values" was an anti-Semitic slur?
Well, Geraldo (on Fox, no less) agrees.
Now this is a knife, as someone once said.
One of the better threads in a while, thank you all.
I tried to explain it ed but some people knew better and thought it was reality show bullshit.
This is nothing new to a New Yorker. I have seen this before.
Ordinary grunts aren't always the best judges of generals. Napoleon sent thousands to certain death to gain an ephemeral tactical advantage in his endless wars.. When things turned sour, he abandoned those armies. Yet his soldiers loved him. When he escaped from Elba, he bared his neck to the French troops massed against him. He asked them to either shoot him or join him in a new campaign. They joined him on his march to Waterloo. About forty thousand of them died and lots more were maimed in pursuit of glory or whatever.......Wellington never received much love from his men. Well, he thought they were "scum" and had them flogged for minor breaches of discipline. But for all that, he made sure that they got paid on time and he declined battles that he could have won simply because the victory would have come at the cost of too many casulties........If you wanted to survive a war, Wellington's army was the one to join. If you wanted glory (and/or dismbowelment by partisans), then Napoleon was just the ticket........Eisenhower, against the advice of Montgomery and Patton, let the Russians march on Berlin and achieve the glory of conquering that city. Some one hundred thousand Russians died in that campaign.
Now this here is some mighty fine shit:
---------

Dayum! Who is this Methadras feller? Now that boys lived a real life. Been around the block a timer 2. Sounds as if he might of had a few ex-wives of his own. LOL!!! He just might be my new internet hero. Like to buy that boy a beer! Yep.
GO TRUMP!!! I see he's got Rudy Julianni on his team now. RuDEE RuDEE RuDEE!!!
Your wife left her computer running when she left for work? Does she know what you are doing over here? Perhaps someone should send her a copy of your drivel. I am sure she would approve.
Talking to me, pussboy? What is a sixty grit... sandpaper? Cute. or is it yr IQ scor3? Heee!!!
Maybe you wanna join Trooper York and andy spinelli in a 3way. Id like t watch that. LOL!!!
TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP!!!
I was not turned off by any commenter here. I was spending too much time online and when I ventured out in the world a little more it grabbed a hold of me! Adore you all.
Hi Rick, Nick, and Sixty!
So Fin edited himself? Interesting. I love a mystery.
On Trump: I think he is fascinating. Hilarious. Way more disciplined than he comes off - but then I don't think he is really desperate to be Prez and I do like that about him.
I think he's been surprisingly and quietly very generous over his lifetime. I like that too.
I don't think he could be worse than Hillary as President, so I can't be a #NeverTrump. I think Obama has caused such deep harm to the country that it could only get worse under another Democrat. Too much at stake.
Plus...I like to laugh. I know I'd get a chuckle or two out of President Trump. :)
Hey there, Darce. I see why all these beta boys think there in love with you. Dang yr pretty!!! LOL!!!
Don't be a stranger and VOTE TRUMP!!!
Just video tape your next three way with your step sons, Mead, that will have to suffice. Have your wife hold the camera. Sure, it will be a shaky video, as she is never sober, but you will always have that golden moment to savor together.
I guess the Evil Blogger Lady has a class this morning.
Their now were talkin. Alls we need now is andy spinellie an we can get this 3way a going. wheres andy... probly on a stake out. LOL!!! TRUMP.... WOOO!!!
Darcy, I'm very happy to have you back. I'm actually delighted I was wrong. You are valuable. However, if I have learned anything in my 63 years it is that we need to take care of ourselves otherwise we're no good for anyone else. Kudos for taking care of yourself.
Thanks, Nick - great to be back. :)
