Schumer: Don't use my 2007 speech to justify blocking Obama nominee

Schumer told the American Constitution Society in 2007 that Democrats "should reverse the presumption of confirmation," because the court was "dangerously out of balance." At the time, George W. Bush was president.

But Schumer argues now that Democrats would have taken up a Bush nomination.

"Every single senator has a right to vote no on any given nominee," Schumer wrote. "I've opposed some nominees who are out of the mainstream, my friends on the other side of the aisle have opposed some nominees they believe are out of the mainstream, and this pattern may well continue. But the wisdom of the Founding Fathers dictates that we should go through a full vetting and confirmation process so that we and the nation can determine whether these candidates are out of the mainstream even in this ideological era."

Collective response to all of this should be "Bork you."

It's a glorious day when a politician says Don't Listen To Me.

Sound advice, if you ask me.

Suddenly this week all Democrats have evolved from the knuckle draggers they were just a few years ago. Maybe something in the water.

I give it better than even odds that even though McConnell has all the power he'll bow to Hussein and give the Court to the Left for the next twenty years.

Who let the lunatics out of the asylum?

One guy dares white people to buy his lousy record and a notorious politician says don't listen to me.

Republicans are stupid to follow this advice. Republicans are stupid.

Just today I got another big fat load of new Republican speaker, so much promise in his home state, so much disaster at national level, and the one thing that stares out from the picture, the one thing I can get out of the photo and all of the words in the article, the one single thing that shines through all the rest is his glaring sanpaku of doom.

I almost fell sorry for him. But his betrayal makes sorrow impossible. I eagerly await the unfolding of his inevitable political demise. It is inevitable. Not because of his eyes, because of everything else, his eyes broadcast his body's awareness of his own unhappy end. It is the most amazing thing. Every photo of the man without exception shows this progression. The bottom lids become heavier and heavier until they're permanently fixed on his visage. It's a matter of time.

What I said then doesn't count, only what I say now. Follow my orders now!!! Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Better than even odds is weak. I'd say it's a sure thing. Obama will get his SCOTUS appointment to Scalia's vacant seat, the Court will shift left and then rebalance to the middle with Kagan replacing Kennedy as the swing vote. President Hillary will get 2 appointments in her first term — Ginsburg and then Kennedy will retire. Conservatives and Republicans are wise to play the long game and focus on 2020 when they can elect a President Rubio, Cotton, Sasse, Ryan, Ernst, Martinez, Walker, or Haley. That president might need to replace Thomas and Alito. 16 years of peace and prosperity under new Republican leadership after Hillary's failed 4 years will lead to a New Renaissance and not only America but the entire planet will be, if not great again, a very very good place to live, work, and raise a family.

I'll bet you 10 bucks.

(Unless Trump somehow gets in this November. In that case, all bets are off. Unless you're betting he'll blow it all up, because that would be a damn good good bet.)

I'm all for blowing it up. Seriously, at some point this shit has got to stop.
