"Pentagon orders commanders to prioritize climate change in all military actions"

Washington Times: The Pentagon is ordering the top brass to incorporate climate change into virtually everything they do, from testing weapons to training troops to war planning to joint exercises with allies.

A new directive’s theme: The U.S. Armed Forces must show “resilience” and beat back the threat based on “actionable science.”

It says the military will not be able to maintain effectiveness unless the directive is followed. It orders the establishment of a new layer of bureaucracy — a wide array of “climate change boards, councils and working groups” to infuse climate change into “programs, plans and policies.”

The Pentagon defines resilience to climate change as: “Ability to anticipate, prepare for, and adapt to changing conditions and withstand, respond to, and recover rapidly from disruptions.”

To four-star generals and admirals, among them the regional combatant commanders who plan and fight the nation’s wars, the directive tells them: “Incorporate climate change impacts into plans and operations and integrate DoD guidance and analysis in Combatant Command planning to address climate change-related risks and opportunities across the full range of military operations, including steady-state campaign planning and operations and contingency planning.”

The directive, “Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience,” is in line with President Obama’s view that global warming is the country’s foremost national security threat...

I don't know how we will ever adapt to this 1.5 degree change in average global temperature or the extremely low storm activity that has accompanied it so far, but I bet it will cost a lot and involve many many new posters and new word combinations like "green nuclear warhead".

One obvious methodology would be to take THIS CONCEPT and scale it up across the entire American arsenal.

Ike: George, I want you to take your 8th Army in a great sweeping motion south and east, roll up Gesundheit's flank and then race that insufferable Monty to Berlin. All glory to the one who gets there first.

Patton: Yes Sir!

Ike: And George, orders from DC are that you do it with the lightest possible carbon footprint.

Patton: #!X$@*!&+@X^$#!!!

Global Warming is an all-purpose civilization destroyer. There is no aspect of our culture that is not amenable to being weighted down with this millstone and allowed to sink to the bottom of the ocean. Unexpectedly.

I recently read Doris Kearns Goodwin book about the Roosevelts during the war years. Eleanor didn't want the big industrialists to get all the important defense contracts. She felt that it would be better if they were dispersed among a number of smaller contractors. She also felt that it was important that the expanding factories provide housing for their workers and day care facilities for their female employees. If Eleanor's recommendations had been strictly followed, we would have probably lost the war, but that would be a small price to pay for the purchase of a just and equitable society.........These jihadis have a very small carbon footprint relative to the US Army. Most of them don't even use toilet paper. Would it be such an awful thing to let the jihadis win?
