"Dem debate: Fierce grilling except for emails, FBI, Top Secret, Benghazi, debt and…."

Investors Business Daily:   Of the 16,000 words uttered by Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and moderators Gwen Ifil and Judy Woodruff, not one of them concerned Clinton’s deepening email scandal. Not one mention of the words email, e-mail, private server or FBI.

Not a single media question or opponent mention of the huge legal cloud hanging over the party’s presumptive nominee. Nor of the ongoing FBI investigation into unauthorized use of her unsecured private email server for government business, including loose handling of Top Secret documents endangering national security intelligence-gathering and covert operations. And yet, people still argue that bias in the media is just crazy right-wing paranoia. It's the most easily proven argument of many that Conservatives have where the Left can't face the facts honestly, because they like it unfair.

Dear corrupt left, go F yourselves said...

lefties do like it unfair.

Somebody needs to make an ad about this debate's clear failure to inform the public, and how it's all within a incestuous bubble of protected candidates and the media. It would simultaneously attack both Dem candidates as well as show how unfair the process is to voters. It would show how Dem voters are being played and seen as suckers. I think lots people would vote for a Republican if they got that message clear enough. They hate to be seen as stupid more than anything.

I didn't see the debate, just the "highlights" (ha) as presented on tv. Apparently they debated over who had the truest, purest love for Barack Obama. Sanders conclusively won the debate by stating that he never ran against President Obama. To think that Hillary voted for the Iraq war and ran against Barack Obama. Who can vote for someone with a record like that. Why Obama wasn't elected by general acclamation is something that future historians will never understand..........They're also competing to see who can release the most prisoners from jail. Bernie Sanders is offering to release 500,000, but that's just the opening bid.

Dear corrupt left, go F yourselves said...

If that's how Cruz is going to fight Hillary, I want Cruz as the nominee.

It's about time an ad agency is used that isn't secretly in the dem camp.

I doubt Trump will fight Hillary with all that is necessary. Trump likes her and thinks she's competent. Trump was surprised and angered when Obama didn't pick her as VP.

An Ad should be made that brings this image to life.

They also argued over who hates money in politics the most. If they really think that's the whole problem as they say over and over, then they should both vote for Trump.

Tediously predictable dulleftard response to accusations of MSM bias: The MSM is biased because it's not left enough ('cause see? they're favoring Clinton, omg). Yes and no. It is true that there is not a lot of openly communistic cheerleading and there is suppression/rebranding/heavy editing of the more embarrassingly socialist excesses of the left (BLM, Occupy, the Obama Administration). But that's because these things would not hold up to objective scrutiny over time, not because the MSM disapproves of them. The MSM is at a crossroads with Sanders/Clinton. Their heart belongs to Sanders (swoon) but they are massively in debt to the Clintons and they've already stiffed them once. Strange new respect for how debt makes you weak and vulnerable. (Don't worry, lefties; the progressive metaphor alert light is out.) The sad fact is that neither one of these old coots will be able to deliver on their free stuff for regular people promises as the economy is about to nosedive.

They're wrestling over the black vote in South Carolina. Since Bernie's already said that he understands that legitimate rage excuses the occasional cop killing, Hillary's going to have to up the ante by declaring that she's all in for the knockout game.

Bernie wants free college tuition, so the kids will have more to donate to his campaigns. Pay to play - it's so revolutionary!

I'm sure that head injury can be repurposed somehow. Viz., She was in a knockout game, and she loved it. Exclamation point. Such fun. Grinning rictus.

I'll need confirmation that that came from the Cruz campaign. Doesn't seemed aimed at his constituency. Then again, evangelicals can be quite worldly.

Thank you, April :)

Like I said, Bago, evangelicals can be quite worldly. And I can see Carson and Trump voters being pulled in. It just hits me wrong. Goes too mean.

deborah said...

I think what's hitting me wrong is they're mixing three memes: the Office space, mafia, and gangsta/hip hop. I'm just too damn logical :)

Amartel said...

deb - What did you think about the ad a couple of years ago featuring "Paul Ryan" pushing wheelchair grandma off a cliff? Is that kind of humor okay? Or less off-putting? If so, why? Is it okay because it's a guy? A white guy? A Republican (yes, yes, I know, INO)?
Personally, I don't recall much analysis of the ad as "mean." Rather, the analysis was directed at whether the ad was truthful (ie., substantive analysis of Ryan's position on Obamacare) and whether the ad was "effective" (ie., did it put Ryan on the defensive). NO analysis about whether it was "mean" and "hurtful" and therefore off putting. Why? Because Dems are presumed to be no-holds barred in their presentation because it's all for the greater good. They can outright lie on the floor of the Senate about a Rep presidential candidate and, literally, nothing comes of it. They can freely slander Reps as racist, misogynist, homophobic, stupid, prudish, evil, murdering, molesting, diseased, fraudulent, cruel non-persons and it's all good. Standard practice. Move on, but first check out the production value in this ad; awesome, man. Given Hillary's track record, I cannot summon any sympathy for her. People died so she and the Poser in Chief could maintain a ridiculous fiction to cover their asses. I am so happy to see Republican candidates, esp. Ted, adopting humor in their advertising. So much more effective than the standard GOPe standard-issue warmed-over family values flag waving. More, please.

deborah said...

Am, I should have been more clear...my concern is not with Hillary's feelings whatsoever. She deserves everything she gets. Mine was an analysis of the effectiveness of the ad.

I was highly offended by the grama commercial because it played to extremist emotion and was not 'fair.'

Love that photo and caption.

Hildebeest's entire rationale for naming Mandela was to prove her black "creds" while hoping to stir up some black anti-semitism against Bernie.

Remember in 2008 when she told Obama he wasn't white enough to win the right votes? Me too.

This is Hillary for you.

How she manages to do that with a straight face appears to astound Bernie, but he pulled it together enough to respond with a "Madame Secretary, that was a low blow" which made me smile!

Yes Bernie, the Madame delivers low blows as needed and stocks the cigars.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

How she manages to do that with a straight face appears to astound Bernie,

I think it would have astounded anyone. It was bad enough when she and Bill started monkeying around with racial tropes in 2008. But Jews were told that Billary had strong credentials vis a vis Israel - esp. in 2008, which I think is a total sham. The best thing for the entire Middle East including Israel is just getting out of there and lending support for or arms against when or where needed, but basically letting everyone sort their own shit out. Bernie, for better or for worse, has to walk a fine line in not alienating the Amazonian gender warriors for Hillary, so he goes on about (supposedly) respecting her. But this was clearly a low blow and a nasty demographic play of the same sort of identity politics that Republicans are right to point out that everyone should be sick of - Democrats included. Blacks and Hispanics are the only notable groups with marginally lingering anti-semitism left in America, and yet Bernie's starting to make inroads with them as well. So Hildebeest injected the poison into that one as best she could. Pretty nasty.

...but he pulled it together enough to respond with a "Madame Secretary, that was a low blow" which made me smile!

I'm not sure what else he could have done, other than to point out that she ran against him, (she once stood up like a scold and said "SHAME ON YOU, Barack Obama" [for daring to criticize her on health care]). If he was any defter, perhaps he could have pointed out that she was trying to drive a wedge and create the appearance of dissension where there wasn't any. Either way, it's ok because these things always seem to have a way of backfiring on the Clintons. They do them the more desperate they get. Hopefully the nastier she is, the more people will see it. But if she gets away with it and gets her Nixonian ass into office, don't worry. We'll go to Plan B and gladly help you impeach her on the first Nixonian screw-up she commits, which I give a 50/50 chance of occurring at least before Christmas 2017.

You have many allies. There are many of us who hate her for what she does as much as the right does. We realize that she is part of this corrupt Boss Tweed/Dixiecrat/machine Democrat tradition that is always at the root of all the evil in the party, and we are sick of it, too.

Dear corrupt left, go F yourselves said...

We may have our political and philosophical differences, but if we can all agree that Hillary is a crook, then at least we have that. For it is the truth.

bagoh20 said...

Then don't vote for her, because that discredits everything this nation stands for. It's a betrayal of our founding and history. This is not Mexico, or Russia. We have respect for our own laws. At least as voters we should send that message.

Trump may be crude, an ass, or even an embarrassment, and as much as I don't trust his instincts, I'd vote for him a hundred times over Hillary. I'd even vote for Bernie first, and he's about as far from me politically as you can get, not to mention a complete fool.

She belongs in some third world dictatorship.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Bernie's not a fool. He just thinks that Wall Street's "needs" aren't as important a priority for the government as Main Street's needs are right now. And most Americans agree with him. I think he goes too far (a $15 minimum wage is outlandish and "free" college is beside the point) but he's just aligned with the overall direction a lot of people want to go. But none of this matters. All of us would vote for Bernie or Trump (someone who similarly over-stretches reality) over Hillary so where's the bad blood?

For the first time in whoever knows how long we're all aligned, and with a good chunk of America no doubt as well. So celebrate it while it lasts. Maybe in the future whoever gets in in 2017 will fix things to the point that the disagreements won't be as bad as they'd gotten in the aughts. But in the meantime there's so much to agree on. We're all against excessive political correctness, we're fed up with liars, we're done with the voice of the people being drowned out by distracting career politician games. And we don't need terrorists to be "understood" so much as to be told to fix their own house. So even the appearance of a fight seems pointless. ON other things, energy, etc., there are more debates to be had - but not unbridgeable ones. Hell, trimming government is even something I can get on board with as long as the details are clear. The point is that we all agree on who the worst of the least worst options is, and how her brand of toxicity needs to be purged not only from the Democratic party, but from politics as a whole.

The Democrats will be better for it once it happens and so will the political system. I understand the Republican infighting a little less well, but they seem similar in kind if not in degree. So come together on what needs to be done and enjoy the housecleaning we'll finally get to see. Give yourself credit for getting the left to see the light. (Or maybe we just always would have agreed with you all along... once we got to see how craven her darkness really is. It's the worst of the worst and it's being smacked out. This is a good thing).

It doesn't matter. All he said was that he wasn't going to politicize it. (I realize he said something more pandering earlier "sick and tired of damn emails!") but the important thing is that by the NH debate he said that there is a proper procedure being conducted by the FBI and that was all he needed to comment on. And that shut her up. Commenting further would have been distracting. He's fine with letting the FBI do their job and hollering about it won't expedite that process. If they find something indictable then good, and so be it. But that's their job as a criminal investigatory arm of the executive branch. It's fine if Republicans want to politicize it but Bernie can't get any traction on it and it wouldn't work against Hillary if he tried to do it. If you feel it can be politicized further before the FBI's done then that's fine, but that bit all comes down to the messenger - and he's not the right one -- at least not for now. If they hand down indictments then that might change.

Or harry Reid's cowboy poetry. It's all graft and fleecing. The graft and fleecing must stop. We do have enough money to pay for the things we want. We waste too much, and are left with scrapes and bitching. So much is spent on corrupt insider political trading within the house of congress and the house of lobbyists. Any wonder why all the pols get rich while they "serve" us?

Certainly Bernie could say something about it. Like... well, I never would have set up a private server while on the job working for the US government. and I do find it curious how much money she and Bill pulled into their private foundation while she was at State.

But that attack is hindered by the recent finding that Condi and Colin Powell also used private accounts for SOS business. As for the money she's gotten, he's attacked that as best he can. And he's gaining a hell of a lot of traction on it.

You have to realize that unless it helps his candidacy, it doesn't hurt her. He's the only opposition she has now, until the general. And the groundswell of revolt against the corruption of the system - as best exemplified by the Clintons - is something that he's doing very well with. Can you imagine any other Democrat in the past getting this far, 50% nationally if you believe current polls - by taking on the establishment, the corrupt, the party elite and the general Wall Street donor-lobby graft system all at once... AND THE DISGUSTING CLINTONS COMPLETELY OCCUPYING THE VORTEX OF IT ON AT LEAST ONE HALF... by an old, raspy-throated guy from freaking Vermont? Unimaginable. I thought he was an insignificant and goofy fad, too - until I noticed how real his traction was over the summer. Then I got right on board. I don't why no one else has been able to do this before, but bless it - it's happening. And the effects on her and, as importantly, on her politics and her very special brand of corruption, will be very, very good for the country and for the nation. He's a salve, he's a purgative, we will get this done.

I will vote for more than a few of your Republicans over Hillary. And if it's one I can't support, I'll just sit it out and not vote.

You guys have friends on our side. Getting rid of her is priority number 1 to me. I will gladly go along with some of the more unpalatable Republican things than put up with her and her unconstructive bullshit. She is a complete detriment to the country in any capacity.

Deb, I don't watch The Office either. The ad is based on a scene from The Office that went viral. For some strange reason. They changed the lyrics, that's pretty much all.

The joke being the comparison between the characters in The Office destroying their copier and Hillary destroying private server in the bathroom carrying State secrets in order to hide her activities. YouTube [the office, copier]

The original scene does not deserve its viral status.

Neither does the show.

Anecdote alert: ding ding ding

I went on a date dinner then a local show. The dinner Vietnamese up there on Federal and the stage show farther north was about people working in an office. Having spent all day in an office I found not one single thing about the show amusing. Not one thing likable. It was not possible to make the situation amusing any more than a show about slavery could be amusing to a slave. "Let's go." So we did.]

The original scene plays on frustration with copiers in general and what we'd like to do to them.

I DID do that to a scanner one time because it demanded to be rebooted and told what to do all over again with a fresh set of instructions from disk, had to be linked up again as starting fresh. And then felt very poorly about that and quite stupid. I realized I wouldn't do that had I bought the thing myself, and not it just given to me as convenience for someone else. So a scene like that cannot be amusing to me for several reasons, yet there it is. A scene so clever so universally understood that it appears in a Republican ad. How hip. Man, Republicans sure are hip. Here, let me fix your red tie. *choke*

deborah said...

Thanks for putting that up, Chip, I should have reviewed it before posting the hip hop part of my comment.

But that's from the movie Office Space, an average movie, though a cult classic of sorts.

The Office is one of the funniest sitcoms ever...but I get you not liking it. For a long time I'd walk through the living room where my teens were watching it, and I'd say what do you SEE in that? Then one day I got it.

Since I got Netflix I've watched the whole series, and will re-watch it in a year or two.
