But I would take Edgar Martinez, Paul Molitor and Frank Thomas over him.

No way you can compare his clutch hitting, when it counted, in October, to anybody.
Nobody here has even a memory of him but Dusty Rhodes was hands down the best pinch hitter of all time. Which is even harder than DHing.
The first DH was Ron "Super Jew" Blomberg. The DH was @ first different players on a team. One of the first to specialize as solely a DH was Hal McRae.
Tank's comment every time Ortiz came up against the Yankees, "just hit him in the butt and put him on first."
I said this "loudly" at a bar once while watching a game. On the next pitch, Ortiz hit it out, and the crowd (in the bar) stood up and applauded (me).
