Dem debate...Tuesday 8:30 Eastern Time

Excerpt:

"As Jeff Cohen noted Friday in “CNN’s Double Standards on Debates,” CNN made a point of including a bona fide right-winger in the Republican debate but “is not planning to include a single progressive advocate among its panel of four questioners … CNN presents as neutral: CNN’s [Dana] Bash and three CNN anchors (Anderson Cooper, Don Lemon, and Juan Carlos Lopez of CNN en Espanol.)”

The significance is that while a person from the Right or Left might break out of the usual frame of these debates, “mainstream” panelists can be counted on to ask predictable queries with maybe a “gotcha” question or two tossed in to show how “tough” the reporter can be. CNN’s line-up fits that description to a tee.

...So as not to raise unrealistic expectations about Tuesday’s debate, Cooper has said that there will be no “gotcha” questions. “As a moderator, it’s not my job in this kind of debate to try and force anything,” he said. “I don’t go into this with some strategy for getting people going in one way or another. … Even if I did have that strategy, or a strategy, I wouldn’t necessarily telegraph that.”
But one can expect a focus on many of the usual mainstream topics, framed in the typical mainstream way: What can be done to stop Putin? Why didn’t President Obama do more to achieve “regime change” in Syria? If the ongoing catastrophe in Libya is mentioned, it is likely to be in the narrow context of the Benghazi investigation and Hillary Clinton’s emails as Secretary of State.

Don't know about my fellow Lemuelites, but I am looking forward the debate on Tuesday. I lost my news junkie mojo for the last several months, but it seems to be reviving. What are your predictions? I still see Webb working with her...

of course it's rigged. CNN is one giant solfball for Dems anyway.

Will Rodham be asked a single tough question? Ever? By anybody? The mainstream press has never once asked her a tough question. Ever. I doubt it will begin on CNN-- The Clinton News Network.

I'm surprised Hackenopolis won't be around to ask some scripted "there's no smoking gun!" hacktastic clinton-ass-covering questions.

"Ms. Clinton, when did you learn that you were so awesome?"

I expect a snoozefest of old tired ideas presented in the old tired ways, because these old farts "ain't no ways tarred" of giving us that. I wonder if Hillary will break into ebonics when Lemon aks her some shit.

I'd like to hear these Dems get asked if they think the cop in Ferguson acted stupidly, and get a follow up with the actual facts of the case applied.

yes - a lot of turd polishing.
They are all going to fall all over each other attempting to out-promise what they can provide with other people's money.

I'm going to give you Super Duper Universal Health Care! - with a cherry on top and free Viagra.

FOR a long time, Rodham's shtick was to throw the word "universal" in front of every promise.

I wonder if she will be rigorously universal tonight?

Prediction: No one will ask about Clinton's corrupt foundation or her corrupt and illegal use of a private server. That will all go away.

What their won't be is effective follow ups, because that is a target rich environment with Dems. They rely heavily on saying bullshit that is then just left out there by the media or even repeated as fact by them without being shown their clear spin or hypocrisy. Like when Hillary spews platitudes about respecting women and nobody asks her about her misogyny when attacking Bill's accusers. No, not Bill Cosby. The other guy who does that stuff.

It will be a two hour Hillary Clinton infomercial.

What will the Dem queen makers do when Bernie wins New Hampshire by a lot, some say 15%? Apparently Iowa's still a toss up, but what if Bernie wins there as well? How will TPTB disappear him?

No that is not posed correctly. "When you are licking Huma does she taste like Falafel?"

The problem with Hillary! is the more people see of her the less they like it.

the statement about Gotcha questions was funny. All Trump got was Gotcha questions.

Hillary Clinton just said, "I'm really not even a human being." I kid you not. It's out!

She has a right to define herself as what she feels inside. If she cannot relate to being human, then who are we to say she is? She has probably felt this in her soul since she was a child. There is likely some genetic source, meaning she was born that way and cannot change just to fit into our anthronormative culture.

Lem, masochism is a disease and it is treatable.

See your mental health professional.

Okay, now these comments are funny. Nice segue to the above thread.

So what are the rules?
Rodham lies her ass off,
CNN swears to it,
And the other candidates are limited to saying "Yes dear."

deborah, I was kidding. Standard PSA boilerplate.

I am looking forward the debate on Tuesday.

deborah said...

Ohhh, because I made this post, not Lem.

Ooops.

Sorry, saw the Lemuelites and thought it was him.

Just between guys, y'know.

Sorry. Wouldn't ever take a shot at you - disagree, but that's all.
