"The End of Boys and Girls"

Gender neutral: These Companies Are Going to Change How Your Kids Dress

Several of the startups share a common origin: They were borne out of parental frustration with major retailers. Simply shopping in the opposite gender's section isn't the answer, these parents say. Cultural norms mean that as kids get older, designating certain items as male or female can confuse and frustrate them. A girl may not want to wear something designated for boys, and vice-versa.

"Most kids and parents are going to the big retailers and seeing all these messages of what its means to be a boy or a girl," says Sharon Choksi, founder of clothing line Girls Will Be. Choksi's daughter Mya, now 10, never liked sparkles or "feminine" colors, so the Choksis would shop for Mya in the boys' section. As Mya got older, Choksi worried that "boy" and "girl" labels would unnecessarily upset her daughter.

Girls will still choose pink for themselves. They just do.

A commenter around these parts said they tried gender neutral toys. The girls put the firetruck into a crib and babied it, and the boys launched the doll over the roof of the house.

Good luck on this.

Even Sally Kohn can't stop her daughter from being boy crazy

I remember seeing three kids playing in Wissahickon Park. The two boys were jumping in and out of a mud puddle while the girl shrieked in disgust and ran away. I thought to myself that is just mother nature no matter what an unhappy, librul freak so-called expert wants us to think.

This is not in any way designed to help boys, who happen to be the gender under attack for being what they are, and expressing their nature. It is rather part of the attack that tries to encourage boys to be like girls, and girls to do whatever they like. That is sexist and hateful.

My wife gave up on the gender neutral thingy when
1. my son made a gun out of toast, and
2. my daughter made a mommy and baby out of Pop Tarts.

Lefties deny reality all the time, until it hits them hard upside the head.

And I agree.
None of the clothes are what boys like.
This is an attempt to crush male behaviors.

For a general neutral term, brats works. So does urchins.

This isn't new. Benetton has been doing this for decades.

Pogo, this is a direct attack to crush males not behaviors.

Based on something that happened the other day, I am growing suspicious of the mass-clothing industry.
I was washing my skin with a soapy washcloth (in the shower, don't get any ideas) and after I rubbed my thigh, my wash cloth was blue. BLUE. Yes, BLUE. So I rinsed the washcloth and scrubbed the other thigh. Blue. My arms - not blue.

I wear NYDJ jeans all of the time. Dark blue jeans to look as professional as possible in jeans. It didn't take me long to make the connection. My NYDJ jeans are leaching blue dye onto my skin. That's outrageous really. Isn't it?

I've read about blue jean manufacturing and all the excess blue dye that flows downstream, polluting as it goes. All of this has given me a new perspective on clothing dyed in bright colors. Where does all that excess dye go? Is that really good for us? Stay away from it, is what I'm thinking.
Perhaps there's something to the naturally dyed clothing. I see more and more of it around. I don't care for the hippy-look. Perhaps I need to change my look.

As far as the kids, they should all be wearing natural organically dyed clothing. There I said it. Boys don't care anyway. (These random thoughts coming from a crazed rightwing nutjob.)

*** NYDJ jeans come with a warning/suggestion label inside that says to always wash before wearing. Well, duh. My jeans have been thru the wash numerous times and they are still leaching blue onto my skin. ick.
