I've often wondered why tire companies didn't make various colored tires instead of the usual black. I read up on it and the reason is because the carbon black gives a superior, longer lasting tire.

Through the vulcanization process the carbon black gives the rubber very good abrasion resistance.

What the heck ever happened to spinners? They were everywhere (around here) and now they're all gone.

It must be a glow-in-the-dark pigment incorporated into the vulcanized rubber. I have some of that stuff and plan to use it in a "radioactive" drink.
I see that you can still buy full and baby moon hubcaps. Those were the bomb when I was a yout.
