Speaking fees for ex-presidents are a big topic of discussion these days. It is obscene to find out how much money that President Clinton and Hillary and even their dog faced daughter get to give a speech. But now there is an even more distressing story.
It seems that ex-President Bush got $100,000 to give a speech to a benefit for disabled vets from Iraq and Afghanistan.
According to the New York Daily News: "Former Marine Eddie Wright (pictured above with President Bush) who served on the charity’s board and lost both hands in a 2004 rocket attack in Iraq, told ABC he didn’t think it was right for Bush to have been paid to raise money for vets through the group, which provides adapted homes to service members who became disabled in combat."
According to Mr. Wright Laura Bush got $50,000 the year before to speak to same group.
Now I don't know if this is true. It might be something thrown up against the wall for cover for the Clinton's and their shenanigans. But if it is true I am very disappointed in President Bush. I hope he donated the money back to the charity or something. Because if he didn't I would lose a lot of respect for him.

If true it's a disgrace. If not you'll never see a retraction.
It looks bad. Maybe there's more to this story. But why did the charity offer him $100,000. There are other ways for both the charity and for Bush to raise money......I'm withholding judgment. This looks like a Clinton planted story.......During Bill Clinton's first campaign for President and first sex scandals, we were informed that the elder Bush had had an affair while ambassador to China........I think the Clinton speaking fees were poorly disguised bribes. I don't know what influence Bush had with the Obama administration. I can see the quid but where's the quo?
I think it is an opposition research scam too. But lets wait and see.
This is a lie from the lamestream media and I am shocked you even posted this. I am so disappointed in you Troop.
You are sounding like a RINO.
Next you will degrade Trump, the only true conservative and next president!
Let's see if there's a rest of the story.
After all, the Bushes, unlike the Choom Gang and the Ozark Mafia were hardly on welfare before 41 got into politics.
Unlike most Democrats I want to know when someone I support does something wrong. I will call him on it.
Something the Obama cultists never do.
Wright quit sometimes before November 2014 ,story here/
Thanks for the info ampersand. This is pretty damning.
If the IRS wanted to do something useful it should look at these phony charities instead of targeting the political enemies of the Obama administration.
If President Bush accepted anything more than carfare it is a horrible and shameful debacle of the first water.
1. Compared to the scope and scale of the Clinton fraudulence, this is nothing;
2. It seems unlikely that influence is being purchased, unlike Clinton payoffs in which influence is always being purchased;
3. Speakers' fees are between the speaker and the people paying them; I will not be influenced by envy. If some business or rich person wants to pay Bush, or anyone for that matter, $100,000 to drop some wisdom on them then that's between them;
4. The only qualm I have about this is that this charity is for wounded war veterans. You have to assume that money could be channelled to better uses especially given that the Dems have so utterly fucked up the VA System.
The point is it is a charity for wounded vets. I just don't think it is right to take a dime away from them. Or sick kids. Or victims of child abuse.
Now animal rights shit heads? Screw that noise. Charge them through the roof for all I care.
One of the clear differences I see between right and left is the political celebrity thing. Conservatives just have a lot less invested in the person as a royal. If they did a good job, and/or showed respect for the values of the nation, they get respected. Conversely, the left seems to get excited like a Kardashian fan. It doesn't matter what they have done (Obama, Clinton, Gore, Kerry, etc). They just need to be on the right team, and they cheer like a schoolgirl with a crush. Well, maybe it's more like a Cubs fan.
If there aren't some mitigating facts here then yea, this is not cool of Bush at all, and I'm surprised and disappointed. Now if Clinton or Obama did the same thing, I would have the same opinion without the surprise, but I'm 100% sure that most on the left would feel differently depending on which side the speaker was from. Hell, look at the stuff they justify and overlook everyday.
Bill got paid 750,000 for one speech - but then they dumped a bunch of money into the slush fund.
Hey Trooper, is it true that you gave JPP the finger?
Not me Sixty. Although I think he is overrated and we shouldn't franchise him.
Because he could use one about now.
I suspect, Troop, living in that sinful city, sold some wedding dresses to diesels. As a result he has become a little soft.
Bush has not commented on this which is a bad sign.
At this point what difference does it make. See what I did right there?
Isn't this the pro-democrat hack media trying to go.... see see see
