Everyone enjoys a good Yogi-ism, or has a favorite Yogi Berra story—whether or not it’s actually true. Here’s mine: One spring, when Yogi was managing the Yankees, a streaker darted onto the field in nothing but a pair of sneakers and a paper bag. Asked later whether the streaker was a man or woman, Yogi purportedly replied, “I don’t know, they had a bag over their head.”
On the occasion of Berra’s 90th birthday on Tuesday, there will surely be a flood of yarns and one-liners that have come to define the Hall of Fame catcher since his baseball career began nearly 70 years ago. But here is a different Yogi Berra story, one without the Yogi-isms, and totally nonfiction. It’s a story about a legacy and involves a young man named Carlos. (read more)

Based on that photo I'd say Yogi fathered Jorge Posada!
"Jorge Posada's tell-all book rips the Yankees for demoting him from starting catcher"
That was an open secret.
Remember before "Yogi-isms" we had "Stengel-isms" which were every bit as much as stream-of-(un)consciously hilariously inventive as those of Yogi's. Having both of those on the club at the same time must have been some experience..
Thanks for a moving tribute to one of the all time great Yankees.
A good story.
The story is made even better in that the boy Yogi helped,Carlos Lejnieks, is now CEO and executive director of Big Brothers/Big Sisters in New Jersey, a great organization. Carlos learned a lot from Yogi and is passing it on.
Yogi goes in to a pizza joint for lunch and orders a medium pizza. The guy behind the counter asks Yogi if he would like the pizza cut into 6 or 8 slices. Yogi responds "better make it 8, I'm really hungry."
Jorge is an angry man. Had a real a-hole for an old man. He was an average catcher who expected a top line pitcher like Sabathia to obey him, just like his old man made him obey. I think Jeter, Bernie, and Rivera felt sorry for the guy and made him part of their click. They're having a Jorge Posada Day. I'm sure Jeter made that happen. What's next, Horace Clark Day? Tom Shopay Day?
"clique"
Hey spinelli, I thought the "click" consisted of Jeter, Rivera, Pettitte and Posada. I don't think Bernie was core four.
