"Safety in and around school campuses is the top priority for Orange County school leaders," OCPS said in a news release. "Recognizing social media is a major communication system, the district has acquired social media monitoring software."

Isn't there an Amendment or something about this?
I guess the Feds can't do it, but the states can... if the people let them.
Knowing human nature, I suspect that the motivation is as much voyeurism as anything, and that will eventually dominate the surveillance activity. It will only serve to eliminate particular social media sites as a communication tools for kids. They won't talk where there are nosy adults listening in with their pants around their ankles.
