What an Earthquake Emergency Exit looks like

I wonder if it was because of bad karma.

Seemed pretty orderly considering, but then again, there wasn't a lot of people moving through those hallways anyway and for a 7.9 magnitude earthquake, from the camera point of view it appeared fairly tame, but reports indicate that it went on for a long long time with immediate aftershocks lasting almost a half hour. I wonder of the Himalayas increased in height after this?

They say that the discovery of plate tectonics is one of the greatest of all scientific achievements.

I won't argue with that.

Does this mean Annapurna will replace Everest as highest?

I predicted no one would try to use the roped off stairs.

Some were calmer than others. I was intrigued by how different people perceive danger.

Some where downright nonchalant.

Loma Prieta quake (7.1 in SF in 1989) lasted 15 seconds. I was there. It felt a lot longer than that. By the end I was really feeling panicky. This one goes on for almost a minute. People run and stumble about at first and then seem to slow down. Resigned? Earthquakes really drive home the fact that we're all small and insignificant and very temporary.
