Let me guess. The writer, as well as the posters here, are white old and grumpy (WOGs)

who, since retirement (many forced?), have nothing better to do but blast a bunch of fine upstanding young people who want to bring much needed attention to a problem our generation let pass for far too long. Want to talk about a National disgrace, cue that one up. They are taking action. What have you done other than complain here?
Here is my little sister captured at her severest teenage toxicity. Here is her style of thinking back then as a virus specimen solid in amber and I marvel at its polished jewel-like sheen. To even talk to her you must first peel away each sentence and set it aright, each an argument, and then proceed so everything begins with deficit so you're frustrated right off and when you do proceed you encounter only resistance. I'm not up to it. But that up there was mere amateur trolling. They announce such with "old white" ageist, racist, all bound in a wad like a tape handle to a shiv they expect to insert unnoticed, very girlishly.

This is a comment on weaponsman to an article about Peggy Combs making her battalion of ROTC Cadets wear high heals and walk a mile in them parading to promote rape awareness on campuses. Obviously the article is written against it.

This was mandatory. We know they don't like it they've written about it. But allow me to say, the way you throw your legs forward confidently like that, arch your backs, flatten your stomachs, pop your chests, you boys do look fetching.

The old "walk a mile in another man's moccasins" repurposed for today's US ARMY ROTC.

Fine. That mile is walked.

Conclusion: Your moccasins are incredibly stupid. You wear them. That means you're incredibly stupid."  And now everyone knows it.

One of the complaint letters from a cadet said "Now we have to spend $17.00 on ridiculous shoes, paint them red, wear them a mile, then throw them away." If not, then a negative mark on their record about not supporting their battalion objectives.

Only $17.00? Well, it's terrible anyway. When I encountered this item the first fifty times I was taking it for the regular army and not the ROTC. My outrage was lessened a tiny bit by realizing that.

I did not read all 90 comments to this article suffice to say they're mostly against it, that one up there was handled sufficiently, some comments are refreshingly informative, most are reasonable, what you'd expect, but there are angry ones leading to some great ones. Like this:
Seeing as the United States military has now put homosexuals out in the open, I’m surprised Combs or even Dempsey haven’t directed that all troops will “march a mile in their shorts” with a dildo up their ass !
WTF has happened to my Army ?
Ha ha ha ha ha ha. There's always somebody who comes up with something I couldn't think of. What would make him think of anything that outrageous?

He was thinking, had he said way back then that having women in the army and having women generals will lead to fighting men wearing red high heals, then the likes of the  commenter quoted above would have insisted that he's quite insane, old, white and grumpy, slippery slope, reactionary, and worst of all that he's sexist. He who opens with an ageist, racist dig. That's why he visualized something so outrageous as cadets marching in shorts with dildos up their asses.

He makes me laugh all over again. What a perv.

This is my take on the cadets forced to wear red high heals. Omitting the whole Title IX letter from the White House that college administrators are using as basis for all the related colleges disruption, with its obviously bogus rape statistics that by their numbers have one in five college women being raped. Apart from a U.S. Army general falling right in line with all this bogus party bullshit once again permeating institutions just to fall in line with it and only to fall in line with it. My take on high heeled shoes apart of the stark spectacle of United States Army general displaying bandwagon-following qualities rather than leadership qualities. Apart from all that my own take on high heals in general is that high heals are a willful self-inflicted handicap.

I tried on Mum's high heeled shoes one time. They're incredibly stupid shoes.

To put on a pair of shoes stupid as that and clunk around in them is to handicap yourself in the manner of Chinese foot-binding.

Don't even argue with me on this. Women purposefully handicap their own walking for men. If men didn't think they were hot then women would never wear the ridiculous things. Look, I have trouble waking. There is a lot more to keeping one's balance than people imagine, dozens of foot and leg muscles must coordinate with semicircular canals in your ears. All that brain to leg nerve activity. A lot can go wrong. Then there is the ground. Even a good flat floor can be slick. Then a carpeted floor dangerous. Stilts are dangerous. By wearing these shoes the gait is clipped, the walk handicapped. On purpose!

When a woman dresses up and makes herself look hot and has those shoes on I say to her, "Nice shoes."

Why? Because she did it for me. She did it for men. She did NOT do it because she likes to go clunking around in dangerous stilts that inhibit her walk and are actually painful by crushing the toes and jamming the full weight wrongly. They are painful to wear. Women endure pain to look hot for men.

When you see, say, Atlanta Housewives and the women are all clunking around handicapped first by tight skirts and secondly by high heel shoes, and thirdly a slick stage floor or a dangerously carpeted floor, taking their baby steps clunk clunk clunk clunk clunk clunk clunking all over you see a stage full of self-handicapped bumper dolls bumping around clasping each other as much for balance as anything kissing but not touching faces lest something snap. When you see that then you see beautiful and attractive women handicapping themselves on purpose. Normal shoes and they would all walk normally. Try to see this through eyes of one who cannot do it and realize how not just stupid but actually offensive it is. Nice shoes. You're hot. You're also dumb.

The general is saying by her action requiring men to handicap themselves by wearing ridiculous shoes that to know what it is to  be a woman is to make poor shoe decisions, to handicap yourself purposefully for an  effort to make yourself more sexually attractive. That's what it is to be a woman by this general's lights. And the men know that the women are better than that. Better than their general thinks of them, and much better than Party will have them perform. Party where all this Title IX reinterpretation originates.

You're probably wondering what this big goofball looks like if you haven't already.

BG Peggy Combs

BG really stands for brigadier general, I think. They actually made this silly Party operative a general. Because she has a vagina or because she did something outstanding? Maybe she did do a whole bunch of outstanding things. I don't know. All I know of her is this high heels incident.

This is why mutiny was invented.

Pirates would top it off by leaving him on a deserted island.

Any deserted islands in AZ?

Well, maybe they could drop her in the middle of Apache country.

Evolutionary psychology probably gives us a pretty good explanation for why so many women look so much better wearing high heels, but I don't know what it is.

I think courtly dudes back in the 1600's, or whenever it was, wore high heels, as well as the women.

Bet there were some wild office parties back in those days.

What would they have done if a female ROTC student had declined? Or if the recruits had the guts to decline together? On the other hand, fairly mild hazing.

It is hard to believe an authority figure could dream up such stupid shit.

Gaudy advocacy must appear innovative to a military bureaucrat yearning for facile glory and a release from the tedium of training wave after wave of candidates.

This whole thing bugs the hell out of me. Women have served honorably in the military for many, many years. This stunt just reduces them to a stupid choice.

Women choose to wear high heels, so forcing men to wear them does not give them any insight on the oppression of women.

I wore high heels for many years. They cause an arch in the back and make your butt more attractive. They also increase that 'legs up to here' look men admire.

They also destroy your feet and cause bulging disks in your back, but still it is a CHOICE.

If the commander wanted to demonstrate the oppression of women, then forcing Iranian men to wear a burqa would have been more illustrative. Or perhaps hold them down and give them a circumcision with a broken piece of glass.

I think they should wear come-f**k-me-pumps and black burkas. It's important to prove that you have submitted fully.

Sorry, I apologize that my rant got a little graphic now that I have thought about it.

I just get so tired of the SJWs taking a woman's choice and turning into oppression.

Actually, the problem of rape in the military is probably a larger problem than on college campuses.
Still - this is just PC humiliation.
What does this accomplish? It makes our military look like a joke.

No part of the uniform distinctly belonging to the US Army may be worn with civilian clothing. Likewise, no civilian clothing items will be worn when in uniform.

Seems the cadets can be disciplined for wearing high heels with the uniform or disciplined for refusing to wear high heels with the uniform. Nice.

I remember when we quit wearing combat boots on runs, because wearing them could cause ankle sprains. Regardless of the PC aspects, marching a distance in high heels is dangerous and causes injury.

Agree with Texas Annie completely, language and all. In fact, I bet those who thought this was a great idea would be apoplectic if these cadets instead of wearing heels wore burqas and carried the same sign.

Women want to wear high heels, they want to go under the knife for all kinds of cosmetic surgery, they want to paint their faces. Oppression my old white grumpy ass.

"white old and grumpy"

What's with the "white" crap?Does anyone believe retired black soldiers are in favor of this?

100-1, the asshole making that comment is himself white.

As for high-heels thing, I suppose the Marines would say, "Yeah, that what we always suspected about the Army".

rcocean said...

No doubt the BG is herself a PC affirmative action baby and this stunt will please the higher-ups who promoted her.

But its just a stunt that does nothing to address the real problem, assuming it really is a real problem. Its just a humiliation, I wonder how many young guys will see this and say "No way, I'm joining Army ROTC and put up with this crap". No doubt the Navy and AF ROTC recruiters were glad to see this.

Rabel said...

Just for the record, it's Major General Combs. Two stars.

Rabel said...

Based on her service record, I'm willing to cut her some slack until we know if she approved this fiasco.

bagoh20 said...

This is so stupid, even if you agree with the objective.

The only guys who are actually humiliated by this would be the mature, self-respecting and disciplined ones who would be insulted by someone thinking them incapable of understanding what's wrong with rape already. The immature frat boy types will enjoy this as a joke and find it funny while it reinforces their disrespect for the organization and its leadership. It's just dumb, and makes me question the judgement and intelligence leading our military.

If they really wanted to make sure the jerks among them understand the trauma of rape they should have them raped by gay recruits with billy clubs so they can really understand what rape is.

Hint: High heels are not rape.

bagoh20 said...

Is the implication that wearing high heels is humiliating, asking to be raped, or somehow like being rape? No of course not. Someone thinks it funny, and laughed about the humiliation they were bringing on the best of the recruits. Assholes.

rcocean said...

"Based on her service record, I'm willing to cut her some slack until we know if she approved this fiasco."

How absurd. Do know anything about how the Army works? This was done on her direct command.

Rabel said...

"This was done on her direct command."

Could you show me evidence of that?

This quote - "This is a comment on weaponsman to an article about Peggy Combs making her battalion of ROTC Cadets wear high heals and walk a mile in them parading to promote rape awareness on campuses." - is clearly incorrect as Combs is head of the U.S. Army Cadet Command and based at Fort Knox. That gives her overall responsibility for all ROTC programs, but the quote implies that she was the college's battalion commander and gave the order herself. That sort of misinformation leads me to look for facts rather than jumping on the bandwagon blindly.

I'll be happy to drive that wagon if it's shown that Combs gave the orders. Thus far I haven't seen such evidence. Until I do I give her, as I would any service member, the benefit of the doubt.

rcocean said...

Its irrelevant whether she directly ordered it or not. Do you really think the battalion commander would do such a nutty thing without prior approval or because it was in line with prior instructions?

And there's zero evidence she was against it.

rcocean said...

I know divisonal commanders rarely give battalion commanders direct orders. They provide general guidelines and give missions/direct orders to the their Regiment commanders who then give missions/direct orders to their battalion commanders.

Division commander to Regiment - Take a hill so we can advance over the pass.

Regiment to battalion commander - Take Hill 560

Rabel said...

It's ROTC, rc. They aren't taking any hills.

She could have approved it or she could be as pissed as everyone else. We don't know at this point.

I'm thinking she likely approved but just want good information before I make a judgement.

Combs put on a uniform and jumped out of airplanes, she served in Iraq and she has a Bronze Star. Her balls are clearly bigger than mine and she deserves a fair judgement based on facts, not on comments from people who don't know what happened.

Trooper York said...

Regardless of who ordered it this was obviously another move to delegitimize traditional values in the Military. Part and parcel of the Obama administrations efforts to degrade our military capacity so we can not respond to the people that Obama really cares about.

Trooper York said...

Heads should roll if these cadets were forced to do this against their will.

bagoh20 said...

To be fair, women recruits should be forced to run a mile with a 12 inch dildo and two limes strapped to their leg just to understand what life is like for us average guys.

Chip Ahoy said...

Thank you, Rabel.

Chip Ahoy said...

The evidence of her giving the orders is at the link. That is what the ROTC guys are responding to. Still, what is unclear is precisely what signals she is responding to. I would rather a battalion general say FTS, she of sensible shoes and ride out present political conditions. It won't last forever. Unless you enable it.

You know what I keep thinking about? How the president's photograph, a large one, is always framed and hanging high and tilted downward inside military buildings. It's weird. The way them fer'ners do. In terms of interior design, very poor feng shui, know what I mean, Jellybean? As if to greet you. And to remind you always who's boss. Even if it's an Alfred E. Newman like Bush II, there his stupid face will be lording over the whole atrium because he is boss, even if it's Erkel McMonkeyears, there his stupid face will be because he is boss. And only because he is boss, well, that and an incurably demented sense of interior design on the part of everyone else.

That's what I keep thinking about.

How I'd walk into one of those typical military rooms and barf right there on the spot.

Why'd you barf?

I'm ill.

I think that what a whole lot of people just don't get is... nothing in the military is voluntary, even the voluntary things.

So there can start out a "suggestion" that each Det should include some activities to support... whatever... all very open ended and "suggesty". and by the time it gets down to the Cadets, it's "you must do this particular thing or else we won't be able to report that we've complied with this directive."

The silliness of the red shoes with the uniform (and Chip is 100% correct about the voluntary crippling for beauty) doesn't bother me. The way it works is that anything "uniform" is acceptable as "uniform", so (for example) if it's normally against the rules to shave your head *but* it's all done *uniformly* to support a cancer charity, then it's *uniform* and it's okay. Nor can anyone tell me that it's a decorum thing... same deal. If it's one guy it's one thing, if it's the whole unit dancing to "Put a Ring On It" then it's team building... etc.

Synova said...

And of course at the General Officer level you have to pay the political piper. You just do.

So the civilian leadership says something about how schools need to do such and such in response to those bogus rape statistics, it's presented as "voluntary"... but it's not. Because that's not how the military operates. The "brass" is compelled to treat those things like orders, and make their own "suggestions" even if they leave it up to people down the chain of command on how they'll be implemented. But come evaluation times there has to be a box to check, did they DO IT or not? What did they do? And they've got to show compliance.

This is also why the defense for the soldier/s accused of rape was trying to get the whole case dismissed because some elected national official more or less said "find them guilty", even if it wasn't presented as an "order", all suggestions like that are viewed as orders and the "brass" is compelled to comply to civilian leadership's dictates and it was very true that the possibility of a *fair* trial was significantly compromised.

Now, part of that could also be a message upward from the military to the dummy Senators to stop being sloppy idiots, but that doesn't make it not a real problem.

rcocean said...

"It's ROTC, rc. They aren't taking any hills."

She's not in the ROTC - she's a US army officer and so are the people responsible. The cadets are in the ROTC. Further, I was using an analogy so taking it literally is kinda dumb. But whatever. And no I don't care that you disagree.

When you point out where she publicly disagreed with the whole thing, then I'll say she's not responsible. Till then...

I don't give a rats ass what she did in Iraq. That doesn't give her a pass on what's she's doing in 2015. Kerry was decorated for bravery in Vietnam - does that mean he shouldn't be criticized?
