"Police shooting death of black man sparks protests in Wisconsin"

"A police officer followed the man back to an apartment, where the man reportedly attacked the officer. “The officer did draw his revolver and subsequently shot the subject,” Madison Police Chief Mike Koval said...

An editor for the UW-Madison student newspaper The Badger Herald tweeted a photo of the protest and reported that the crowd chanted “black lives matter,” a rallying cry that has gained prominence in the wake of the police-involved deaths of black men in Ferguson, Missouri, and Staten Island, New York.

There are still lots of facts to come out on this: possible priors on the dead youth (a woman on a bullhorn last night called him "boy" which was demeaning, IMO).

The shooting happened in the heart of the Progressive district in Madison - the Willy St. neighborhood. If it gets ugly there, this will be a black mark against the progressives.

Madison rhymes with Ferguson -- watch for familiar patterns to develop...

19 years old is that border line where MSNBC is calling the deceased a man and NBC is calling him a teen.

"In July 2012, NBC acquired Microsoft's remaining stake in MSNBC.com, and re-branded it as NBCNews.com."

The bosses are calling him a teen and the underlings are calling him a man.

@Lem: commenters over on TOP have conformed Haz' earlier tip about the youth's priors.

I'm not seeing this story trend on twitter where the 50th Anniversary of Selma is carrying the day so far.

The man/teen appears to have met an untimely death.

I'm just saying... no disrespect.

Lem Vibe Bandit said...

"the youth's priors" might be another hurdle for the MSM to elevate the story to national status.

I wonder what happens when eventually the innocent victim of police racism is so light-skinned that white people can't chant "black lives matter" without pissing off black people.

There have been 52 murders in Chicago so far this year. 44 of them have been perpetrated on black or Hispanic males, and many of them kids or teens.

Shouldn't that awful carnage count for something? Where are the Sharpton marches, and why hasn't the press descended on that town to cover this outrage? Don't black lives count in Chicago?

Madison lacks a certain critical mass for unrest but Chicago and Milwaukee are only hours away by interstate.

I wouldn't discount it so quickly. They have a bunch of stupid college kids, hipsters and a leavening of the criminal element to could all add up to a nice riot stew.

Black Lives Matter

Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in America. 78% of their clinics are in minority communities. Blacks make up 12% of the population, but 35% of the abortions in America.

So no, those black lives don't matter. And remember, Planned Parenthood is an organization favored by while liberals, who make up the bulk of their financial donors.

Earlier this week, Fulton County, Georgia police officer Terence Green, a black man, s ambushed, shot in the head and killed by Amanuel Menghesha, a black man.

There were no protests, no threats of civil violence if there is no peace. Terence Green's life must not matter.

Also this week in Philadelphia, police officer Robert Wilson, a black man, was shot to death by two other black men, identified as Ramone Williams, 24, and Carlton Hipps, 29. Both had prior arrests, and police said Hipps had gotten out of prison in 2009. Officer Wilson had stopped at a video store to buy a gift for his 9 year old son, and was shot and killed during an attempted robbery.

There were no chants of "no justice, no peace" following Officer Wilson's murder. Apparently, his black life doesn't matter.

Just watch. Al Sharpton will show up in Madison. And he won't make any effort to show up in Philadelphia or Atlanta for the funerals of the dead officers.

Because the true chant is "Selected Black Lives Matter, Others Don't".

A wrinkle marshaling the forces necessary for the mission (protest the untimely death) might be that they are already committed elsewhere.

Selma anniversary weekend where Obama is going to be speaking is in happening.

Madison may have to wait.

Madison has been put on holder until after this weekend.

Haz wants us to know that every black man's sperm is sacred.

I'm starting to find these stories exceedingly yawn-worthy. Yes, in a police state the cops have just as much right to shoot first and ask questions afterward of a black dude as they do of everyone else. Or even moreso, as the the thread sentiment here would indicate.

Anyway, my guess is this will be another story with tons of gray areas that everyone wants to paint in other colors. For a real hoot in the annals of being suspiciously alive and free while black, check out this wild yahoo.

So far the closest thing I've seen in this tragedy approaching "pure evil" is that witch who took the megaphone from the hands of the grieving grandmother and said that (paraphrasing) "we have been telling you over and over that if you don't release our black men from prison you will have another Ferguson." Why no opprobrium for her Meade? I don't want to see violence in Madison (my mother lives there). Why can't you recognize the personification of violence when she stares you in the face?

Taken literally, Trooper's comments say that he believes that people in Madison brought this on themselves, so in that sense, he is like the woman.*

But Trooper is saying that appeasement leads to violence; the woman is saying that lack of appeasement leads to violence. It's a causality argument. And there is a difference.

Well Scott Walker wants to cut the bloat at the University....

The cut that Governor Walker proposed is a cut to the state portion of the UW System funding. The state funding is about 20% of the overall university revenue stream.

The actual numbers work out to a cut of about 2.5% in the total budget. That's two and one half pennies per dollar. If the UW System cant find two and one half pennies per dollar in savings, they should be fired and new people brought in.

The dumbfucks who have PhDs can't figure this out. But the governor who didn't complete his college education can. It's like his enemies write his campaign material.

What you quote her as saying: “we have been telling you over and over that if you don't release our black men from prison you will have another Ferguson,” deserves harsh criticism.

Black Lives Matter!

Except in Madison, actually. Mad City is among the most racially segregated cities in America. Blacks don't live where university administrators or professors live, unless they are the very few black administrators or professors UW has hired.

UW has a whopping 2% black student population. Quite an accomplishment, innit?

Madison had the worst graduation rate for African-American students in the state's 20 largest districts in 2012-2013. The city also boasted the third-largest achievement gap between black and white students - a difference of more than 30 percent.

A well-crafted and well-supported proposal to open a school for at-risk black males in Madison was shot down by the lily-white teachers union because the proposal did not include union members as faculty. Because #unionlivesmatter much more than #blacklives matter.

So when someone form a lily-white background living in a lily-white neighborhood in a mostly lily-white Madison starts lecturing on morality, it's best to judge not by words, but by actions.

Instead I can enjoy watching Scott Walker cut the University Budget. Hopefully he will cut the deadwood so you better find some new revenue streams. Maybe you can do a bake sale to add to your portal and subscription service.

Better yet if you ever get invited to another professors house you can check the couch cushions for change.
