Is it the same song?

Sam Smith's "Stay With Me" and Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down"

The similarity is striking, especially because it carries over for a couple of minutes. Still, without the speed adjustment, you'd never notice.

That's assume.

I meant to say awesome just now but that other word came out.

I noticed a few weeks ago, okay a month ago, possibly a year ago, what, do I look like a clock? Time's not my bag, Daddy-o. A long time ago, a few comments hung up in moderation. One comment took issue with comparing the Fitbit ad with Ça plane pour moi, the point made that sometimes things sound similar, and they do. I didn't argue. But I still ask, do they grind on similarly, dead-end similarly in their grinding, and escape the grinding similarly? Do songs often grind on with similar melodies, and pull out of the grind with similar melodic solution?

Do you ever listen to songs, this happens a lot with Beethoven, where the music builds up and grinds on that you wonder how in the heck they are going to pull out of it, and they do in a way that is not expected but then seems inevitable when performed?

Ça plane pour moi is like that. The advert grinds on similarly to the song and is resolved satisfactorily and similarly. That's two coincidences, not one. Two. *click* Two.*click* Two minty-fresh coincidences in one.

Yes, yes, and even indeed, but it sounds also like something akin to stand by me, various versions, as well. That's after I clicked over.

That said, truth be told, before I bothered to click on the vid, based just on the post hed and the post itself, I was immediately reminded of and therefore immediately dialed up this.

No reason to ask for people to judge for themselves, because, of course, they always do.

Still, I am amused and also diverted, not to mention just a little bit satisfied by the journey. Thus: Thank You!

Seriously, thanks for that one.

rcommal: Your 80's link sent me on my own jaunt to here. I guess I always suspected (but never knew of) the explicit connection between Talk Talk and Roxy Music until tonight.

I thank YOU for that!

Also, in fact, Lem, I was thanking you. The "thanks" was, in fact, directed to you (as well as to others).

Nevertheless, that bit about also thanking others, let me make that more clear, that bit about thanking in "specifity":

Thank you, Lem. I do thank you, you do deserve thanks, and I am thankful for you. Full stop, and make no mistake about it.

I wonder what Johnny Cash thinks?

I do not believe I've ever heard a Kiss song all the way through.

Maybe I have and didn't know it.

The one linked here is difficult. The mugging, and only mugging, I suppose that is Gene Simmons wearing the Godzilla feet. I looked for one with bad hair, and Godzilla feet guy has wiry hair bunched up in three segments like a Samurai, and he did stop full Monty mug and stick out his tongue to dramatic preternatural extension. Costuming and mugging backed by droning repetitive melody and lyrics. No me gusta. I heard Gene Simmons in interviews and he seems sensible.

And I had not seen It's My Life video either. Cute. I like the little doodles all over the place that begin as a worm, scratching out lips and faces, birds and other cute doodles right over the video.

Looking at it from another angle.
