New Mexico was expected to elect the Dem to the Senate but I'm more excited about how big a re-election win Martinez is getting. The State representative races also have a lot of Republicans with significant margins (and a whole lot of races where the Dem ran unopposed... I'm not sure what's up with that... one had a Republican running unopposed so...)
The HR guy where I just got hired was running, but he's not close to winning. I think it's probably his very first time in the process and against a popular (or at least well-known) guy. It might take a few goes before people know who he is.
(1) A lot of doctors today will tell someone that the cancer has metastasized. Perhaps those people will take some comfort in the election results. Well, maybe about half of them.
(2) I'm not one of those people who are afraid of death. In some ways I'm kind of looking forward to it.
But I am very fearful of dying in some unbecoming way. Like in a panic, being unable to breath, flailing about, pulling the curtains off the wall, kicking things over, oblivious to the people standing about in abject horror.
The impulse is aesthetic as much as anything else.
(3) In Saving Private Ryan there was this scene where some guy gets shot in the throat. Unpleasant, to say the least.
There used to be a public service ad campaign for the American Lung Association. "When you can't breath, nothing else matters."
I say, "Breath up, my internet friends! Breath hearty!"
In Louisiana Landrieu's big selling point was her "bring home the bacon" seniority and being Head of the Energy Committee which, of, course, plays huge in Louisiana. Now that the Elephants have control of the Senate all of that goes away. She's toast in the run-off even w.o the fact the two Elephants got well over 50% last night. (Plus a lot of that big energy company money for her campaign now goes away as well..)
We lost our lefties here, and that's unfortunate, but it's understandable when you remember how often they would tell us how the Republicans just can't win anymore, and how the demographics have doomed them, and how their message is not a winning one. Yea, you have to be pretty righteous to come back to work after wearing that clown suit.
The left is taking some solace in the belief that the Tea Party was rejected, but that is far from the truth. The Tea Party is not candidates, but rather a philosophy and a message, and that message is what fueled this change. People got a heavy dose of the folly and corruption of big government recently. That's what turned people - the fecklessness of the government even when you give them all of what they want. They just can't do things well or honestly at the size it is now. People are seeing that now. Sure they will forget it again, but for the moment the lesson is learned, and the doubt is probably permanent. That's a good thing.
Indeed. If candidates from both parties would take on the corruption and money waste, we could actually, someday, have a government that works FOR us instead of against us.
The silliness of the democrat message must stop. They engage in the lowest level of lies and demagoguery. ie: War on women. The evil GOP is going to take away your Social Security. These lies must stop. Why does the left refuse to engage in honest debate?
Now, all the left have are empty economic promises about forcing a minimum wage hikes and equal pay for women. Silly. I can get a job at the local fast food joint for more than minim wage right now. How? Supply and demand. The left are unserious.
Obama is going to go into naked lawless mode in the time he has left. Will the Republicans fight back hard? They better, for our future and for theirs. Hope they understand that because a total storm is coming from the SOB.
2 things have not changed: The sad reality that Obama is still president and he still commands his corrupt justice department. Holder is still there, after all. And: the media is still Pravda.
pogo, Fish fries, chees curds, brandy old fashions and beer. Love to have you. I actually like Minnesota more. Not talking politics, but culture and food.
One fact to consider before we get overly optimistic, sportsfans. The Latino turnout was almost HALF what it was in the last (Presidential) election. If those numbers had turned out last nite we NEVER would have won Colorado, for example-- quality message or candidate quality be damned...we are swimming upstream against demographic trends. This was more of a "stars are in alignment" campaign rather than a raw show of Elephant strength.
Actually from our northern and north eastern districts the Republican votes to reelect the state and house reps won at a 69% to 38% margins in most areas. We always get outvoted by the cities and solid blue areas though so other than some local victories California is always going to be retardedly blue.
Brown won again for governor. Big surprise. /not
The whining on the liberal blogs is going to be deafening. The stunned will not be able to accept the reality. People just don't like your progressive policies. Instead they will come up with all sorts of conspiracy theories and excuses. No....really.....people don't like you. Get over it.
The loss of "our lefties" here is no great loss since most of them were just angry LOL monkeys and/or one-notes. I don't miss their insight as they didn't have any. Would so much rather fight with righties. Speaks to the intellectual vapidity of the left.

All those Brown tweets with the young people fooled me. I forgot young people don't always vote. And when they do, they vote democrat.

I think there are actually no conservatives in this state, though.
There were three (three!) state constitutional amendments on the ballot and they are all winning.
Yes, I *know* they were all worded to sound like a good thing.
All of the bond/tax/whats-wrong-with-you-if-you-hate-the-elderly-infirm-children-park-and-library-users things are passing too.
Hey, it's only a fraction of a percent to show you like old people! It's only a $47 Million dollar bond to declare you support libraries!
Bah.
Barry left the country for someplace they do it right - Red China.
You'll have to sign the legislation to find out what's in it, Mr. Present-Dent.
We did?
holy cow!
I was such a nervous wreck last I watched PBS until I passed out. I just couldn't sit though the nail biting.
Mark Uterus is GONE GONE GONE.
Kay Hagan is gone too? My word.
Did MSDNC wash away with their own tears?

My wife just said she's sad already that the robots have stopped calling.
She's lonely.
the Clinton factor was a bust.
HOORAY!
Harry Reid (D) also doesn't pay his taxes. I have it on good authority.
57% - to 43% in Wisconsin.
Wipe out.
Yeah Walker! and On Wisconsin!
I don't think we got New Hampshire.
The Cory Gardner win is huge. Huge.
In sad news, Al Franken was re-elected.
And Mark Dayton, who seriously talks like he has brain damage, was re-elected Gov.
Minnesota, where all the voters are below average.
On retirement, if WI remains red, I'm actually moving there.
Mia Love won in Utah! woop wooop woooooooop.
Pogo - there is something horribly wrong and backward about Minnesota. Get out now!
Hollywood tells me that after injecting sex into everything they promote, that we live in a rape culture and it's all the fault of the GOP.

Americans are out of work and on food stamps - so the left's collective bromides and cliché talking points are all there to fool the masses into assuming they care. They only care about power. Enter: Hillary.
Obama is going to go into naked lawless mode in the time he has left. Will the Republicans fight back hard? They better, for our future and for theirs. Hope they understand that because a total storm is coming from the SOB.
Ricpic - they better indeed.

Meanwhile in California....... :-(

And what ricpic@9:23 said..
DBQ - the Dems no longer have a supermajority in the California legislature.
Baby steps are still steps!
And Sandra Fluke is going to have to get a real job. (But will probably get hired and overpaid by a tax-funded nonprofit.)
The judicial elections are a complete joke, BTW. Everyone on the ballot, including the execrable Godwin Liu, got approved 80-20 vote.
