So that was 80's television apparently. I wouldn't know. My life was wrapped up in work and school and trying to have fun. The television was a strange unwatched object in an unused third bedroom. I don't even know why I owned one.
But lately, whenever I pass by Fox News the television screen fills with a huge fat guy wearing a plain single color shirt and plain one-color wide suspenders, the most interesting thing about him, and with his elbows on a table and leaning forward toward camera going, "uh, uh, uh...."
Too many Beckels, too many Beckels, too many Beckels, too many Beckels, too many Beckels, too many Beckels... t.v. is poo. Honestly, they had just rename it the Beckel's Vapid Utterances Network.

I like Beckel; he doesn't mindlessly spout the usual talking points of the day. At first I thought it funny the way he started yelling and sputtering in the two weeks leading up to the election, but that got boring fast.
I feel sorry for guys like Beckel. They always look uncomfortable and stuffed into their clothes. They look the way I feel after a big Mexican meal, but apparently they feel that way all the time. It must suck. Put down the fork, Bob.
I never heard of Bob Beckel but last night's episode of The Big Bang Theory was excellent. They all get together for a rooftop dance to reclaim the hopes they had dashed by their high school prom nights.
I laughed. I cried. I got another drink.
There was a heartwarming moment between Leonard and Penny. He says, "Thanks for not wearing your heels." She says, "Thanks for wearing yours." That that comes off as endearing says a lot about the art of reinventing our disappointments in life.
Like getting a prom night do-over.
I don't like that Big Bang Theory has become "heart warming". Why do all the good sit-coms turn into soap operas? With babies and marriage. ugh. (so tired!)
though, I will admit I didn't see last nights episode.
I can't see fox news with my antennae. (nor Russia from my house) I miss "the five" and "red eye". Thyng is, no cable invoice is even more awesome.

I do not think that The Big Bang Theory has become "heart warming."
The isolated moment between Leonard and Penny to which I referred was offset by the implication that the difference in their heights is close to being a dealbreaker, a defect he'll never overcome. When your mother said it's what's inside that counts she was wrong, irrespective of whether she knew it or not.
Ms. Cuoco made the scene work because of her tender smile, a promise she means to keep. In real life, that promise is seldom even made, no less actually kept.
Eric - I'm a fan of the show, but less so now since the show is currently heavily built around boyfriend/girlfriend marriage themes. for example: I preferred when Howard was single. His character was hilarious.
Now? meh.
The nerds, nerd pranks, science geeks, and odd anti-social behavior story lines were fresh and new. Now? all replaced by relationships. I never like the show "Friends". oh well.
I watch The Five. One of its greatest pleasures is watching the hot girls make fun of the liberal guy. You don't get to see that very often on television.......I watch reruns of The Big Bang. Love among the nerds is a familiar theme, but Jim Parsons puts a fresh spin on all his lines. Also the female nerd, whose name I can't spell, is not from the usual round up of sit com characters. She not only looks a genuine nerd (and not some hot chick in glasses and frumpy clothes), she truly is a genuine nerd. She's got a PhD in biology. I don't recall ever seeing a character like hers on tv before. Her delivery reminds me a little of Garbo's in Ninontchka, and, unlike Garbo, her looks jive with her words.
Since first introduced, the character of Amy Farrah Fowler has truly blossomed.

Howard going batshit on Stuart for climbing up his family tree. I lol'ed at that and the prom photos were funny too.
