D'Souza avoids prison

"(Reuters) - Conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza avoided prison on Tuesday when a U.S. judge sentenced him to serve eight months in a community confinement center after he pleaded guilty to violating campaign finance law.
D'Souza, 53, was ordered by U.S. District Judge Richard Berman in Manhattan to live in a center, which would allow him to leave during non-residential hours for employment, for the first eight months of a five-year probationary period.
Berman also ordered D'Souza to perform one day of community service a week during probation, undergo weekly therapy and pay a $30,000 fine.
D'Souza, a frequent critic of U.S. President Barack Obama, admitted in May to illegally reimbursing two "straw donors" who donated $10,000 each to the unsuccessful 2012 U.S. Senate campaign in New York of Wendy Long, a Republican he had known since attending Dartmouth College in the early 1980s.
"It was a crazy idea, it was a bad idea," D'Souza told Berman before being sentenced. "I regret breaking the law.""

He made the mistake of cheating for the wrong party. Otherwise he would have received an Oscar, a Nobel Prize and probably a Senate seat.

He should have tried to influence the election with some nice black SWAT gear and a billy club like decent law abiding citizens do. Then he could get the protection of Eric Holder. If that failed, take the Fifth and collect a nice pension. Sheese, these wingnuts are stupid!

He pleaded guilty? Doesn't his computer have one of those flaky hard drives like everyone else?

This why I remain a registered Democrat. It's like having an election fraud condom.

He'll turn this into a movie, guaranteed. Profit off it!
Not that this isn't completely bassackwards selective justice given the Ds constant cheating and gaming of Everything. I'm just saying play it as it lays.

He was caught with his hand in the cookie jar, so I think what would make a better movie was the cover up of Benghazi. Two main story lines...what happened to the guy who made the video that got the blame, and the tossing of the hot potato between White House, State, and CIA. Let's begin casting now...

This is the kind of thing that will come back to bite the Dems in the ass. Remember how embarrassed they were after Clinton got caught with his pants down, "You just don't get it." Many feminists who protested Tower, Packwood, and Thomas felt morally obliged to leave public life after that scandal. Just so with this. The next Dem who gets caught in some finance scandal will be ruined. The Dems won't accept any bullshit about no controlling legal authority. That politician will be looking at long time in the big house, and Nancy Pelosi will be leading the charge.
