"Under a similar analysis conducted by the Conference of Mayors during the 2001-2002 recession, the wage gap was only 12% compared to the current 23%--meaning the wage gap has nearly doubled from one recession to the next," stated the Conference of Mayors in a statement.In other news... if not related news. Discouraging news?
Perhaps.
But not to Robin Williams.
If Obama has his way we will all be squeegee men one day!
FORWARD!!!
The unemployed should just play more golf.
Be more like the Preezy.
A misleading article by Breitbart. It's bad enough without the deception - yes, newly created jobs are paying 23% less than jobs lost during the recession but "adjusted for inflation, average household income fell 3.0%, while median income fell 5.5% from 2005-2012, according to the report."
It's disappointing that the reporter chose to deceive for the sake of a shock lead. I expect that from the left but the right should be better.
Anyway, have no fear, for the Mayors have created a Task Force led by Bill de Blasio and it will soon solve all of our income problems. At the top of his list of solutions is universal pre-K education.
If Breitbart wants to resort to deceptive propaganda it should look to the professionals who can manage to report on the report without mentioning the damning 23% figure at all. Smooth.
The Times Square annoying characters may form a union. MAybe SEIU will organize the squeegeezers.
Just more of that Hopenchange.
Average pay may be dropping, but the cost to employ people is skyrocketing. This is caused by:
* Lawyers
* Regulations and associated graft
* Mandated "benefits" that usually only benefit a few at the expense of everyone.
* Ever-expanding taxes on employers.
* Asshole bureaucrats, inspectors, regulators and lawyers, most of whom spend everyday destroying jobs and being paid by the people they are tossing on the street.
All this sends good jobs overseas, and leaves behind mostly low paying service sector jobs, thus lowering the average.
If you are in the coasts creative economy your salaries are skyrocketing!!!!
Retention initiatives are big out here: more stock options, higher salaries and bonuses and more time off.
We are totally thriving and loving every minute of it!
Tits and reach for the stars!
Is the "creative economy" like the Kardashians and Honey Boo Boo, or is it mostly patent trolling with benefits?
I feel like David Dinkins is back!
So if they increase the minimum wage to $10.25 everything will be hunky-dory.
Right?
Helluva thing, innit.
