AP: "Police Officer Slain by Killer Who Sought Fame"
The gunman, 27-year-old city resident Lawrence Campbell, never tried to rob the store, Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop said. He assaulted the store's armed security guard and snatched his gun, Fulop said. Then, he approached someone and apologized for his conduct inside the store, then said to watch the news later because he was "going to be famous."

How twisted is this idea of attempting to acquire fame this way?
Big Media people pay attention.
I'm going by the assumption that if this guy thought it was a good idea, there could hundreds, maybe even thousands of other just like him, looking for an opportunity to "become famous".

Guiteau not only thought he would become famous, but would also be considered a hero. The big difference was that he wanted to stay alive.
To be clear, my previous comment was about the embedded video, not the Jersey City guy.
I still remember the good old days when Italians and Puerto Ricans in Jersey City would only kill you for legitimate reasons.
Lemme guess: The cop killer is the kind of stand up guy that Crack Emcee would defend, or at least provide an excuse for.
