"Maintaining that her affair with Clinton was one between two consenting adults, Lewinsky writes that it was the public humiliation she suffered in the wake of the scandal that permanently altered the direction of her life: “Sure, my boss took advantage of me, but I will always remain firm on this point: it was a consensual relationship. Any ‘abuse’ came in the aftermath, when I was made a scapegoat in order to protect his powerful position. . . . The Clinton administration, the special prosecutor’s minions, the political operatives on both sides of the aisle, and the media were able to brand me. And that brand stuck, in part because it was imbued with power.” (read more)

Last week, for my job, I had to take a 2 hour webinar on sexual harassment and misconduct. No clicking through, they time the pages so you have to sit there at least 2 hours.
Which is to say that in any forum, whether it was consensual or not is not an issue. It is sexual misconduct and Clinton was clearly in the wrong legally as well as in regards to his marriage.
It created a hostile work environment for other employees, resulted in vindictive punishment against Lewinsky, etc. and so on.
She doesn't look that bad for 40.
I don't blame Clinton for getting his wang mouthified from her, only for lying about it and attempting to destroy the women who came forward.
I mean seriously, if you were married to Cankles, what difference would an intern or two make?
Hostile work environment?
I doubt that Madeleine Albright was worried about being asked for a blowjob by her boss. Or losing her job to Monica.
But Bill was the first politician ever to cheat on his wife, so he def. should've been impeached.
I worked in a factory setting, and we had sexual harassment seminars. Any male boss caught screwing the men/women under him would have been fired immediately. Consensual sex meant nothing. The firm knew they would also be held accountable if the affair went badly.
Chip, that's disingenuous. There are a lot of people who work in the White House who are not Cabinet Secretaries.
Hostile Work Environment? Yes, by legal definition. As it created a situation where sexual favors led to access, thus prioritizing some over others due to the sexual willingness.
That's not a political statement, that's straight off of a scenario from the Sexual Harassment seminar.
AllenS has it right. Legally and in any other work setting.
I don't know what the law was in 1997. But what Allen's talking about is prudential behavior by a firm that doesn't want to get sued by a spurned lover. It's possible to think that's a good strategy for the firm and disagree that Monica L. was sexually harassed, for the simple reason that she herself maintains that she wasn't a victim of sexual harassment at all.
She does, however, feel victimized by the people who purported to be on her side.
This is why sociopaths get away with stuff.
They surround themselves with fools.
PS That Willie would do it shows how much he hates women and loves humiliating them.
I guess he was the only one who didn't get to screw Mama, after all.
Chip, the sex is just one aspect of the problem. What if a woman (or a lot of women in the department) thinks that she/they worked harder than the one having sex with the boss, but is/are denied promotion and a raise, while the paramour gets the promotion and the raise? Can you understand what morale problems that would cause in the department, and could cause legal problems for the company?
Hit publish too soon. Sexual harassment isn't the only problem with the boss doing the help.
I gotta tell ya that she looks pretty damned good.
She's looking pretty good after 20 years.
Nice, large full tits.

Harding and Jack Kennedy had the good taste to die in office
If I dated her I would require her to reenact the cigar up the cooch.
Allen, I don't dispute anything you're saying. It is definitely unwise behavior.
I'm just taking issue w/ the Catherine MacKinnon school of thought about sexual harassment as it applies to Monica.
Paula jones, OTOH, seems like a true case of harassment. Just my 2¢
I wonder if she keeps in touch with Bill. Their relationship was deep at a certain level.
I can imagine though that it's hard for her to keep a man, and she's getting up there. Sometimes a cigar really is more than a cigar.
Monica had an agenda. She kept the dress. She confided her secrets to the one Republican in her field of acquaintance. She had Daddy issues. Her father had had a messy divorce. If you've got a problem with authority figures and want to screw them over for cheating on Mommy, who better to take down than the President of the United States?.........What sort of woman flashes her panties at the President upon first meeting. As Raymond Chandler would say, a dame like that spells trouble. You'd have thought that Clinton would have had a little more savvy.
I don't think she necessarily had an agenda. She was very young and she was in love with the guy. Young women (and often older ones) do some awfully crazy stuff when they're head over heels in love. And they want to talk about it with someone, especially if it's not going well. Men probably don't do the talking thing? Anyway, I think that's why she told all to Linda Tripp.
@Lydia: I thought for a moment about your innocuous use of the phrase "head over heels in love" and thought why is arranged that way -- why isn't it "heels over head in love"? -- especially giving sexual innuendo. It turns out it that the the phrase may have started out that way: link
Maybe it changed over time to “head over” rather than “heels over” because that puts the emphasis on the crazy state of a person’s thoughts/mind rather than on simply a physical upside-down state?
Every man she meets is going to want to measure her blow job skills as well as stick a cigar up her puss.
Things could be worse for the skank though.
I don't think Monica acted in a methodical, calculated way, but a lot of her actions would indicate a subterranean current directing her.......It seems to me unusual that a woman would flash her panties upon being first presented to the President of the United States. It doesn't seem slutty so much as outlandish. But it worked. She knew her man. Also, who saves semen stains, like pressed orchids, as a souvenir of romance. But, again, that worked for her. Well, worked in the sense that she became famous for Oval Office blowjobs instead of gaining fame as a mad stalker. And Linda Tripp. What was it about Linda Tripp that made her so attractive as a confidante? Linda doesn't look like the kind of woman who can offer advice on affairs of the heart or who seems a source of motherly comfort........Monica was a true subversive. She was able to do so much damage because her agenda was hidden, even from herself. Clinton probably molested dozens of women besides Monica, but she was the one who caught him out. Clinton probably thought of her as some kind of benign groupie because there weren't any tells otherwise.
You'd have thought that Clinton would have had a little more savvy.
Clinton was weak. Just the kind of characteristic TV executives
prefer in a leader.
His wife is incompetent and power-hungry. Just the sort of attribute that gives the collective left collective orgasms. Only the left could take these two hicks and turn them into stars. It's all goosebumpy thrills and spills all the time at the prog party. Meanwhile, who is driving this thing?
