Gallup: "Fewer Americans Think Obama Respected on World Stage"

"For the first time, more Americans think President Barack Obama is not respected by other world leaders than believe he is. Americans' opinions have shifted dramatically in the past year, after being relatively stable from 2010 to 2013."
The results are based on Gallup's annual World Affairs poll, conducted Feb. 6-9. Although opinions about a president's perceived world standing often track with his job approval rating, a majority of Americans still thought world leaders respected Obama in 2010 and 2011, when his job approval was similar to what it is now...

Though the current data represent a personal low for Obama, they are not the lowest Gallup has measured since the question was first asked in 1994. That was reached in 2007, when 21% of Americans thought world leaders respected President George W. Bush...

Democrats and independents are mainly responsible for the slide in Obama's ratings. Independents now, by a wide margin, believe world leaders do not respect Obama.
The words "for the first time" reminded me of Michelle Obama's 2008 campaign trail statement "for the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm really proud of my country..." You might say Michelle was feeling respected in her adult lifetime. But, at what cost has that pride and respect come?

The Obama protection racket is showing signs of wear and tear.

Not surprising, given that in the last year Obama has gotten slapped down by a number of other countries.

Eh. I'm tried of everything revolving around Obama. What is he, king?

Anyone else notice the new propagandistic focus on girls and women in the media? Obama is old news. The new protection racket is shaping around the sad and pathetic cult of personality - The over-hyped one. Queen Benghazi White-Water old screech with the personality of a empty tube of toothpaste "I don't remember, and what difference does it make?"

Hillary prolly saw more clearly when she had those prism glasses.

And just who was Secretary of State during this troubling slide in foreign respect for the US? Think, think, think .....

Not that Americans really give a crap - but we have The Muslim Brotherhood running Egypt now, Al Qaida is on the rise in Libya, Socialist economic disaster for the people of Venezuela, (and Obama doesn't say anything, and his newspapers (like the Denver Post) openly support Maduro and call anyone who isn't happy with leftwing authoritarian fascism a "right winger".
The Ukrainian people could use some help, even if it's just strong firm encouraging words of support from the west. Obama has not delivered.

I'm pretty sure the majority of Americans wouldn't be able to identify, say, Great Britain on a map.

But the point about the Obama protection racket might be true.

There's blood on Obama's hands. Read Roger Kimball's column at today's Pajamas Media. Already the stories are mounting up about the number of people with cancer who have had their coverage eliminated as their old plans just didn't measure up to the requirements of the vicious prince's signature achievement. And if they can find, after fighting their way through the horrifically inept bureaucracy, new coverage, not only are the deductibles through the roof, the astronomically expensive drugs they MUST HAVE to survive are not covered. Soon the deaths will mount up. Heartless heartless heartless fuck. Death is too good for him.

April, that's not true anymore. Thanks to Obama, the Muslim Brotherhood ran Egypt, and no thanks to Obama, the Egyptian people managed to overthrow their bloody rule in short order. The Muslim Brotherhood leaders are now facing courts for their crimes, and the Egyptian military, that aided the military coup to overthrow the Brotherhood, just resigned their control of the government on Monday to the duly elected government.

What Americans aren't paying attention to is how much Obama and his various SecState's nearly screwed up Egypt for generations. And of course, nobody has managed to ask him why was supporting the Muslim Brotherhood at all.

Out of curiousity phx, do you know the difference between the UK and Great Britain on a map?

Leland - On Monday no less. Well, thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear the good news - No thanks to our inept foreign policy "leadership".

Leland, I could draw you a map of pre-Roman tribes in England, but can never remember what's UK and what's Great Britain, no matter how many times I look it up.

Great Britain is the island, while the UK includes Northern Ireland. It is similar to the "Big Island of Hawaii", which is just one island in the chain of islands known as Hawaii. Great Britain is the largest island of the chain/blob of islands known as the British Isles.

I'm just tired of the old Progressive refrain of "Americans couldn't find X on a map". It is a dishonest comment wrapped in a pretense of intellectual superiority. When I was in public grade school, we had to draw maps of Europe with all the major rivers and seas identified as well as political boundaries. Today, even the less studious kids have played video games that require knowledge of various nations around the world.

I am certain that many respect Obama just as much as they ever did.
