Study: "Funnymen's personalities are similar to those with mental health conditions"

"Madcap antics may be part of a comedian’s on-stage persona."
But the madness may not be just an act, say researchers.

The ability to make people laugh comes from a personality of the kind displayed by those with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

Historically, the creativity of painters and playwrights has been linked to madness, but now British experts have found a link with comedians.

Hence why people make you laugh and you say, you are so crazy! Thank goodness for the crazy people who make you laugh I say.

If they're talking about desperate, hand flailing, attention-seeking behaviour it's hard to disagree, but then again we can't all be Bob Newhart or Mort Sahl, now can we.

When you consider someone like Jonathan Winters, it's hardly far-fetched.

Robin Williams, even more so.

A crazy person is actually trapped in absurdity. The comedian sees or prizes out the absurdity in the conventional or normal. And surprises us with it. Our reaction, laughter, is not far from shock. The crazy person evinces pity in us. He's trapped. Horribly. The comedian...we often resent him...after laughing at his exposure of our absurdity. But the comedian does have a hold on reality (the conventional, the normal) if only a tenuous hold.

What a buncha hot air. But MY hot air. :^+

You have to have some talent to be able to be a comedian.

An example.

Jim Floretine does a freaking hilarious routine about how he was a kid who would go to the Wrestling matches and this molester guy would hook up with all these young boys and their parents would actually leave the kids with him! You have to hear it because it was funny as shit.

Well he was recently on Brandi Glanvilles podcast and she did a riff about she was mad that her sister was molested and she wasn't even though she was better looking. Well this is causing a shit storm right now and she might lose her gig on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills." She is not a comedian and could not make it funny. Big mistake.

Oh and plus the fact that women are not funny. Just sayn'

It is most obvious to me in Robin Williams.

Something's not right there.

But I laugh.
