Open Threads used to do really well... at the beginning.

Dylan cannot be avoided.

Do you know how many kids have been named "Dylan" in the past few decades?

Althouse I like Dylan, the songwriter... Dylan, the sage and prophet, annoys me.

I meant that word to be "although," not "Althouse."

One for the shrink!

The remarkable thing about Diana Krall is that she didn't begin singing as part of her act until well after her career began.

She studied piano at Berklee and began playing small gigs and gained some notoriety. Then she began to sing while playing, at the suggestion of friends.

That whiskey voice launched her career.

Krall's voice in on my late night rotation, along with Jane Monheit and a few others. Never grow tired of listening to them.

I went looking for the Joan Baez version and found this. It's a thousand times more beautiful and nuanced interpretation.

ST, that's big. And we all saw it, hee hee hee.

Maybe she will sound better when she sobers up.

That lack of enunciation makes my skin Krall.

Sweet Jesus, Sixty's in one of his moods again.

I love good singing. Post something of hers that indicates she is capable of singing well. Or clearly. Or while sober.

Nope. You are clearly biased. People like Johnny Cash have non-perfect voices, and yet are quite enjoyable to listen to.

Rit Mo - is that you?

All I said was I don't like Krall. No biggie, right?

And don't be bringin' Saint Johnny into this discussion!

Have a Happy New Year's eve, Debs.

Enunciation!

Now post one of Johnny singing stoned. Sixty, put the screws on me and I'll screw right out from under you. You want to bitch, call your ex.

Whoa, where did that come from? Got the party started early this evening, am I right?

Sobriety FTW!
