"Illegal immigrants allowed to practice law in California"

(Reuters) - Illegal immigrants can be licensed to practice law in California under one of eight bills expanding immigrant rights that were signed by Governor Jerry Brown on Saturday."

Other new laws prohibit law enforcement officials from detaining immigrants based on federal government instructions except in cases of serious crimes or convictions, and make it illegal for employers to retaliate against workers on the basis of their citizenship."

"While Washington waffles on immigration, California's forging ahead," Brown said in a statement. "I'm not waiting."

The new laws, including the one letting undocumented immigrants become lawyers, could set a precedent for the nation."

It's like the left didn't even believe that "law of the land" bullshit they spouted last week.

Lawyers are officers of the court, so I don't see how it could be legal.

Isn't "illegal lawyer" something of an oxymoron?

And despite how low my opinion of the Supreme Court might be, I still can't believe they'd allow a law that RESTRICTS turning over illegals to the Feds in direct opposition to Federal law, when they saw a preemption violation in Arizona's law that SUPPORTED Federal statutes.

One of the most amazing historical processes of my lifetime has been the transformation of the California of my childhood, where it was the epitome of the American dream to the inmates-running-the-asylum basket case that it is now.

If you are in the country illegally and you are granted a license to practice law... the description "illegal lawyer" is more than just poetic... or something along those lines.

It's just one law student, he as been living in CA since he was a baby.

But if they let him practice, it'll just open the floodgates.

Anyway, how did the Redsox make it to the postseason with that infield?

We have our own way of doing things out here. This is what it looks like under true one-party government of the Democratic persuasion.

There is not even the slightest bit of shame in these things. It's simply good for the party and their circle of activist friends and contributors. There is just no second consideration in play.

Sorry, Lem.

I'd be more worried about the proposed law allowing illegals to sit on juries.

It looked like they were looking ahead. they were not in the game.

I watched the last inning plus spot coverage here and there. Rodney finally realized where he was on that last pitch. I'm guessing that hitter wished he hadn't swung on that 3-0 pitch now.

And that homer left the Sawks looking confused. "What just happened?"

Got into the game listening on the radio, waiting for my wife's plane to get in. Heard the Rays even it up. I don't know if I was hearing the Rays broadcast or the national broadcast. I'd guess the home broadcast, because the announcers sounded scared talking about the Sawks offensive prowess.

Contempt for the law, by the State itself.

Couldn't possibly engender contempt for other laws , could it?

Anarchy by the installment plan.

It's the Crazy Years, Pogo. I'm sure much more lunacy is coming.

Lem, have you gone back to the levity name? That's what I'm seeing, but I'm on my cell phone.

The Rays were really lucky Rodney only gave up one run with the way he was pitching.

When they turn CA into Mexico, will the Mexicans want to stay there?

That was for legal non-citizen residents, and Gov. Moonbeam vetoed it.

So you got that? In California illegal is good, and legal is bad.

After a while you get the hang of it.

I suppose as long as nobody raises the confederate flag, or worst yet, erects a cross on a park, we will be ok.

There is no rule of law in America anymore.

Or perhaps we will have a civil war of another kind and to survive we will need the United Red States of America and the United Blue States of America.

I do not understand this governance. The facts as given do not compute.

These people doing all this have not made the case for borders that are wide open. Much less a case for wide open in one direction only.

It strikes me as a severe form of retardation and recalcitrant antagonism. It strikes me as very bad and I have not seen or heard anything to support it logically.
