Here is a 'no melt' suet mix, that reportedly can be put out in the summer. Thus far, I've only ever put up pine cones smeared with a lard/peanut butter mix and rolled in bird seed.. As there is plenty of food available during the warm months, I do this only during the cold months. It is important to not use only peanut butter, as some birds may choke on it.

Hot Weather Suet
1 lb. lard
16-20 oz crunch peanut butter
3/4-1 c. raisins (optional)
3/4- 1 c. bird seed
6 c. cornmeal
5 c. flour
Melt lard in pan. Cool, then mix with peanut butter. Stir in remaining ingredients. Line appropriate-sized containers with plastic wrap, press in mixture, freeze. Remove from containers, finish wrapping, store in freezer.

An attractive alternative for those who aren't into melting lard and rolling pinecones to produce a thing wot I made and birds et product.
I feed birds year round. Doing so keeps my yard and woods alive with the sound of music. What Cheer!
The problem is the damn squirrels like it too.
Yup, and they treat the pinecones like portable lunch boxes.
I hang hot pepper suet from spring to fall when the raccoons are out of hibernation, to prevent a cake that would normally last a week from disappearing overnight. Them with paws in place of claws wreck havoc on bird feeding plans.
Saturated fat is bird abuse.
