Russian warships – at least three of them – are on their way to the eastern Mediterranean waters off Syria. A Russian official says they are a means for Russian civilians to escape Syria in the event of US airstrikes. But the ships can do oh so much more.
The Syrian misadventure is incredible in two senses. First, the longer one looks at the President's proposed actions, the worse they look. Not one single aspect of this looks better upon close inspection.
Second, the Administration has yet to do ANYTHING on this matter than doesn't look like gross incompetence. Not one single thing.
It's amazing to see such a horrible idea pursued with such staggering incompetence.
This is the worst foreign policy we've had since the end of WWI, and I don't think there's a close second.
Twenty some years ago I had a lot of friends from East Asian and related areas like the Philippines and Malaysia. The weird thing, to me, was that they were all Depeche Mode fans.

That song is interesting but how anyone ever thought that video to be an appropriate accompaniment is a complete mystery.
They didn't call it "soft rock" for nothing.
A fun headline from the Christian Science Monitor:
Russian warships: Why are they sailing toward Syria?
The subheader is nice and ominous:
