Wake up, People, NSA

No Means No.

Agitprop video. They're trying to get us exercised about forfeiting our privacy. You see, *hand on hip* when you enjoy privacy as stone cold solid you tend to take it for granite.

Until it is taken away.

They say that in the video.

That part got me. Privacy like a physical thing that, whoop, there it goes. Who did that?

If you are like me you have no patience for videos like this. Zero. It ran and the guy droned in the background. I could have written it myself with my eyes closed and one hand tied behind my back and the other hand tangled in a mousetrap. Possible exaggeration there. And I imagine everybody similar to me.

And yet, the comments to this show a vast span of difference in opinion. That's why I'm bothering.

The whole premise of the video pisses me off. It does not work for me because I am not sleeping (on this issue), the assumption is offensive. They're talking to somebody else. Talking down to somebody else. Maybe you. Maybe this works for you. I would hope not.

You can't expect the American people to pay attention before Labor Day.

If Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor on June 7, instead of December 7, they'd have gotten a 6 month head start.

Either June 7th or sweeps week..

Our local township's Board of Supervisors meets twice a month and public comment is limited to two minutes per person and it's at the very end of the meeting, so where is the justice, I ask you.

If you were sleeping, the NSA would have nothing to spy you on.

I'm not happy with that sentence, I just wrote. let me try again.

If you were sleeping, the NSA wouldn't spy on you because you were pulling a John Galt line.

I don't know. I'm still not happy with it.

Dang, another epistle alert. One day I will learn to be succinct and concise like Rabel and AllenS :-(

Chip ... first thing I noticed in the video; the distractions the actors displayed while using smart IT while doing other things, primal things, like just eating or brushing your teeth. That really is what is going on, a populace is overwhelmed by insignificant minutia to the point it doesn't notice, or care, what is deftly taken away.

Not sure he's talking down as much as pleading. I certainly am already aware and exercised about everything said or implied in the video. For
me it was an echo. And I have very germane experience with the phenomnena.

Next, the purpose for politicians and government bureaucracies to do this intense surveillance of civilians is a very simple one. This depth of intrusion provides the bureaucrat with the same kind of knowledge that protects them from their peers...e.g., one can't knock down the other because the other knows too much about the former. See Lois Lerner, among many others (such as the re-instated Benghazi foursome) for a perfect example.

Now the government minions will have the same extortion potential for any civilian in the electorate who might dare to object to anything.

As a soldier and later as a "Fed" I was a whistle blower three times total, twice I was protected by those who I solicited for action (you must know who can act and make a difference....it is n-e-v-e-r news media ... do that and you make it about you, not righteousness) and in the final act of defiance I was able to extort the perpetrators by provable knowledge they had broken the law outright and we still doing so on other matters.

Believe me, all those senior (SES+ levels) who were embarrassed or at risk because of my revelations and intercessions knew what I knew and knew what it would mean if I revealed more of it. The main illegal conduct ceased, on orders from a Major General...none-the-less I was never forgiven, and always had a target painted on my back.

The entire effort to intrude on civilian privacy is aimed at making it very hard for anyone to object to anything in government. It is absolutely on purpose. IT is just how Washington DC runs.

Don't think so? Wanna buy this bridge I have near Fort Hamilton in NYC? I got it up for sale cheap :-)
