CNN: CIA working hard to cover up involvement at Benghazi

Reportedly interrogating agents monthly with lie detectors. [I thought those were discredited, and that agents could fool them.] And that is a lot compared to how often agents were interrogated with lie detectors previously.

To see who is talking to Congress and media. Pure intimidation.

National Review Online says CNN says that, so there you go.

The fact we're hearing this at all says the Company is less responsible for this than the Choom Gang and the Ozark Mafia and some of the rank and file are fighting back.

Either Choom was high as a kite that night (as some have alleged) or both he and Hillary! froze at the wheel and were prepared to leave upwards of 40 Americans to the tender clemency of the Moslem enemy.

My guess: The key man in this mess is John Brennan, now conveniently Director-CIA. He was literally running both CIA operators and SOCOM soldiers without plans & procedures clearance through either CIA or SOCOM...all from the White House.

Donilon was his beard. Hillary likely also played the beard, becasue she had zero foreign service experience, skills or knowledge to do otherwise.

Oh, and we are not going to get squat diddly out of Brennan. He is an old CIA hand with the instincts of LBJ's Robert (Blowtorch Bob) Komer. He perfected deflection and distraction before anyone in the current administration was even born.

"Benghazi" was bad, but not worse than many other Gov't screw-ups. So, why the full panic and ferocious reaction and solid stonewalling ever after?

My guess it was something personal and not general Gov't that was going on in Libya and risked being exposed when "Benghazi" happened.

Whatever it was, we need to find out and bring it out into the light of day. It is what lay under "Benghazi" that is important, more than just the events of that night.

I think Hillary! and the State Dept. is at the bottom of this rather than the CIA.
And if they are now willing to accept the CIA gun-running arms to Syria as an acceptable cover story, the real thing has got to be a doozy!

Has anyone checked into what happened to Libyan oil concessions after Libya was "liberated"?

Hagar ...as I said, my guess, based upon who was calling shots, is that Brennan ran things personally from the White House and did not clear with the echelons of the CIA, Pentagon, SOCOM, nor State Department. He directed soldiers, operatives, and FSO's in a manner similar to that of Robert Komer in LBJ's White House.

This is a perfect cover operation as any of the agencies roughshod ridden over can none-the-less be blamed, whichever is convenient. If the investigation nears a flush out point expect a chorus of 5th Amendment assertions, instead of the soloist act of Lois Lerner for the IRS. Furhter more, speaking as someone who has been a federal & DoD whistle-blower myself, I can assure you that those with the most to lose will intervene against anyone telling the truth, and do so by any means necessary.

To tell the truth and actually have a positive effect you have to have confidants within and a means to maintenance your own secrecy, or you are toast....you go to a news agency, you are toast and lose credibility because news agencies publish things, they do NOT effect changes. So why bother? This is why I have no respect for Manning or Snowden...they did not seek to implement change, just to gain notoriety. You never even hear about the most effective whistle-blowers.

I suspect he was instrumental in both arming Syrians early on as well as the recovery effort of weapons provided to Libya after the "reformation." In both cases, essentially weapons were placed in the hands of Al Qaeda generally in several of its many morphs. Like "Fast & Furious" they lost track of most everything and were scrambling.

I cite Komer as a instigator of more problems than he ever solved because virtually all of his plans, and procedures, as carried out were violent failures. He was a senior institutionalized bureaucrat, which made him dangerous...Brennan is all that as well as a seasoned clandestine operator, which makes him doubly dangerous when operating as an autocrat for an autocrat.

Whatever it takes to cover for the incompetent Hillary.

Why did Hillary fall on her sword? And what does it matter now?

Aridog,
That is all well and good, and I agree that John Brennan is a very untrustworthy person, but does nothing to explain the State Dept.'s reaction, including Hillary! herself jumping in with both feet.

The panic, stonewalling, and really weird things, like "the video" and Susan Rice's tour of the Sunday gasbag shows, all seem to originate at the State Dept.
If what you say was all there was to it, the normal reaction at the State Dept. would have been, "The NSA and CIA caused this; let them row themselves out of it!"

But that is not what we have seen.

Aridog said...

Hagar ... I'll admit I may not be giving Hillary credit for enough intelligence to come in out of the rain, and that may be my bad.

That said, Brennan would have had no compunctions about using FSO's in his schemes, just as Komer did, so I have no doubt that the State Department was heavily involved...and potentially illegally if it included gun running not vetted by DOD. So, yes, you are right...Hillary and company have a lot to hide. You are also quite right that State's antics have been downright weird...for a close knit outfit they seem to have seam rips all over the place lately.

I am sure of one thing, if up to Hillary, Panetta, and Obama, all with the experience sum of zero in things military, 40 men and women may have died instead of 4.

"We will investigate and get to the bottom of this!"

So, weeks later a FBI crew is sent to Libya, but find they can't get out of Tripoli because the Libyan Government - which we just put in place - will not issue them travel permits.
They finally get the permits and go to Benghazi, scour the premises and collect all the evidence to take back to Washington for analysis.
Weeks later a TV News decides to do a "look back" and sends a crew out to the site, and they pick up all sorts of interesting stuff still floating around in the trash inside the buildings.

Now we are told that the CIA has put all their people from Benghazi in a witness protection program, except that they are being interrogated and lie detectored every month - not to see if they have been talking to al Qaeda or the Russians or whoever, but if they have any notion of talking to Jake Tapper or Sharyl Atkisson.

This stinks, and it is not about "national security" anything!

I suspect John Poindexter was involved.

Hagar, it seems to me that as rhis event was going down, the principals met to see who was going under the bus. The spooks would have said, not us, of course, because that would expose things that would harm national security AND the interests of POTUS' reelection.

Hillary probably then came up with the harebrained scheme of blaming the video, to save her own hide.

The question that should ALWAYS be in people's head is, "How would these scandals be covered if it were a Rep. prez?" Kudos to CNN. And, Jake Tapper has evolved into a straight, honest reporter and he has also been tough on Obama.

Hagar said...

And I suspect that a good many of these "principals" were as surprised as we were, and were just stumbling around not much knowing what had hit them or why.

Hagar said...

But I do think Hillary! knew.

I think Aridog is right about Brennan. I'm curious about where Petraeus fit into the scheme.

Hagar said...

I don't think Petraeus fit anywhere. Iraq, and perhaps Afghanistan, was his area. At the CIA (and why Petraeus at CIA and Panetta at Defense? That should surely have been the other way around?) Petraeus had hardly had time to know how to get to his office by himself.

I've asked before why the people at Benghazi that escaped the attack were never found nor ever brought before congress. Now we know why.
