Just a note to let you know I tried your recipe and everybody loves it.

I changed the flour tortilla to corn tortilla because my husband is on a gluten-free diet, and I eliminated the cheese because I'm lactose intolerant, and I didn't have any pork butt roast so I used beef chuck instead and substituted sweet potatoes for regular potatoes, and Tim cannot have any wine so I left that out and used Cool Aid instead, and put a can of creamed corn where the recipe calls for fresh spinach. Everybody loved it! Thank you so much for the idea, this is an instant family hit and so easy to do I can't wait to try it again.

And Gary cannot stand cilantro so forget about that and everybody agreed cumin is way too strong so we used cinnamon instead. I exchanged the lard for vegetable oil, and the sugar for honey, and x'd out the salt, of course, and served on polenta instead of rice.

Priceless! Chip, that is hilarious! I do a ton of cooking at my house and when I go looking for recipes I see a lot of this. Small changes, I can get with. But what you are pointing out, and it occasionally does happen to almost this extent, are mind boggling. Good post!

LOL, chip.

I made that damn key lime pie again--just the way I put the recipe up--without any revisions. Everybody still loved it!

Of course a scientist sticks to the formula, chick.

That was the best laugh I've had in awhile.

I wish that allrecipes.com made reviewers choose from two options--no changes and made changes--when leaving feedback.

Hilarious, Chip! And pretty much true with one of my in-laws.

I thought it might be about pie in the face.

When I goggled "key lime pie" I found an android boot up app.

After working on the remodel job all day, the guys and I settled down for some carne asada tacos fresh grilled on the barbecue, with home made guacamole, and salsa, fresh cheese and cheap beer. Since everybody but me was first or second generation Mexican, it was simple and authentic. Just delicious and refreshing on a beautiful summer day.

Later went to see "Pacific Rim" on a recommendation from a gamer dude. Some fun graphics, but man they hit on every single cliche of the genre a la Independence Day, which is my all time most hated sci-fi movie. I have a hard time with stuff that defies basic physics, and just normal human nature. In my opinion, the best science fiction keeps those those things true if nothing else.

Our tacos had extra gluten, whatever that is. I know they did, because they were so good. Anything made to be anything-free is always second tier.

LOL.....it is a running joke in my house that if I'm out of an ingredient....just use ketchup.

Me: Damn I wanted to make a pineapple carrot cake and don't have a can of crushed pineapple, now I have to go to the store.

Hubby: Just use ketchup!

Probably stems from me bitching at him ....I mean verbally observing.....when we first got together he would just put ketchup on things before even tasting. I mean....I went to a great deal of trouble to put together just the right ingredients and NOW you aren't even going to taste it and drown it in ketchup?!!? Same thing with tarter sauce and fish. NOT all fish dishes require tarter sauce. Taste the damned thing first. I verbally observe.....not nagging....not bitching.....observing. Got it?? :-D

But seriously. Some small changes and the recipe is still sorta kinda the same. Other changes....well....you just made up your OWN recipe. Ta Dah!

Haha! I love this.

I really do love it when someone tells me they've made my recipe for something and then proceeds to tell me they change it all up and it was soooooo good.

The Spirit of Slap is strong, then.

Er, changed.
