"Dick Cheney's daughter eyes Senate bid in Wyoming"

"[Liz] Cheney, eldest daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney, told Wyoming Sen. Mike Enzi that "she's looking at" challenging him in a Republican primary next year, according to a New York Times story from this weekend."
Dick Cheney was Wyoming's lone congressman from 1979 to 1989, before becoming Defense secretary for George H.W. Bush and then Bush 43's vice president. The NYT story says Dick Cheney has been more visible in his home state since his daughter moved to Wyoming -- and that he and Enzi are fly-fishing buddies.
This is welcomed news, as a relief valve from the Hillary Inevitability run away train.

ADDED : While Hillary has to dress up like the Iron Lady, Liz Cheney acts like the Iron Lady.

I was upstairs doing the dishes that didn't get done last night because, well, you know, I got my Red Sox priorities in order. When it occurred to me, not last night but this morning doing the dishes, it occurred to me that the run away train might be wrong metaphor for Hillary. But I have to go to wonk in like 20 minutes. That's not enough time for me. I'm no Instapundit. I'm a more like a laggapundit, who needs to put in more time on posts.

Then again, it might be the right metaphor, depending on how you look at the Hillary Express to the White House.

To get serious for a minute here: Liz Cheney is hot.

If nothing else, she would be fun on the campaign trail.

Since Miss Sarah is also considering a Senate run, imagine the two of them, plus Rand Paul and Ted Cruz, giving Chuckie Schumer and Harry Reid Hell on the Senate floor.

I admire her very much because she was willing to take on a totally politically incorrect cause that had to be taken after 9/11.

Liz Chaney, almost single handled, took on Radical Islam, when almost no one else would.

She showed me some balls.

She's 10x hotter than Hillary.

I bet she can take a licking without batting an eye.

I thought Rand was in favor of Schumer's immigration proposals.

Here at Lem's, we love baseball meta...

The Yankees still suck... and that is no meta.

He takes a more Libertarian stand on it, but has said he wants a bill conservatives can get behind. He wants more security provisions and voted against the final bill.

Make of that what you will.

When I said he could give the Demos Hell, I was thinking of a wide range of issues, but good thinking about immigration.

I have it on good authority that the comments section will open sooner than you think. Do not despair.

I don't see anybody despairing.

I see a bunch of people laughing at that post about the Instapundit.

Heh.

I dont understand what they are arguing about. Maybe somebody can throw me a bone with a map.

I was just looking for a video of Liz Cheney in debate a la Iron Lady. I found a few od them. It struck me how in video after video, Liz debated sometimes more than one interlocutor. Whereas with Hillary... who can ever forget the media uproar over Rick Lazio walking over to her, at a debate podium, to deliver a piece of paper.

It was said that Lazio "invaded her space". whatever that means.

But if you look at Liz Cheney debating, she has no problem with people asking questions and not letting her answer them, talking over her trying to confuse her and obfuscate issues being discussed. And all thru that Liz Cheney hold her own and dosent get frazzled and never says things like "at this point, what difference does it make", as Hillary said, answering questions form a congressional panel and under oath.

Oh man... I would love to see a Hillary Clinton vs. Liz Cheney debate.

Mexico, I love you, but your national anthem sucks. Such bravado. Really, that's what you want to put out there?

Heaven has given you a soldier in every son.
He has given you a soldier in every son!
make ready the steel and the bridle;
And may the Earth tremble at its center
at the resounding roar of the cannon
""
War! War! Without quarter to any who dare
to tarnish the coat of arms of the country
(that would be the eagle on a prickly pear cactus devouring a snake)
War! War! Let the national banners
be soaked in waves of blood
(they're talking about us again)
War! War! in the mountain, in the valley
let the cannons thunder in horrid unison.
and so on in this vein.

Please get one like Canada. Theirs is nice. Once I sent an email to Canada and said, "I think your National anthem is very nice."

And Canada wrote back and said it was picked from a contest. 100% of truth. But I did not email Mexico and suggest they get a new anthem, but I think it's a good idea if they would.

Hey, Chip!

If you know any Mexican history that's been the official policy from the beginning, and one that's cost them heavily (if they'd taken Polk's offer, there never would have been a French invasion in the 1860s - or a war with the US in the 1840s).

LOL.

You know what... I don't think I've ever heard the Mexican Anthem. and the looks of it, its a good thing.

That's 'cojones' in many parts of the country now.

Other than Freeman Hunt, I cannot imagine anyone would want to read any commentator that passes Meade's careful scrutiny.

Other than occasional comic mockery.

But we always assumed she would cave and go back to comments. The alternative is shutting down or going into obscurity.

I think is better not to force this thing.

Sorry if you guys expected more out of me. I don't want to let anybody down.

You're doing fine, Lem. There is nothing else to do. Well, I do need some cleaning up around the house here, but you're probably busy. It includes free beer.

I make of that that he has the libertarian wet dream of inviting another few hundred million people here so that everyone can do what they want, especially if it keeps wages low.

Goddamn but American pols are all either stupid or evil. Don't they know that the Great Compression was driven in good part by heavy immigration restrictions?

Icepick said...

If they do, keep the bone and skip the map. Unless you need something to wipe your ass with and are out of TP. Seriously, this cannot possibly be worth it.

Icepick said...

It was said that Lazio "invaded her space". whatever that means.

Not exactly "I am paying for this microphone" is it?

Seriously, if these assholes can't stand up to twerps like other American pols, how are they supposed to stand up to, well, anybody?

And so SEXIST. Don't they know that womyn can fight just as well as men? BETTER even, because they've got that female intuition thingy and can fight like a Momma Bear whose cubs are threatened, and stuff like that.

And we're going to let these unevolved Neanderthals have citizenship? Oh my, I think I will have an attacks of the vapors now .... [swoons onto chaise lounge]

Clearly we haven't. And lately I'm seeing some very well produced bumper stickers in town that say:

Michelle '16!

It's hard to keep up with someone with the time of a tenured professor who has plenty of money, grown children and a retired spouse. I'm going to go with grab-all posts covering most posts when I can't get to them in a timely manner, and will also put up daily catch-all posts for comments.*

Today's output was disappointing. As I wrote in the grab-all:

All in all this wasn't a great day of output from Althouse. Nine posts, three of which are heavily or entirely dependent on what readers (at least one of whom was a former commenter) emailed to the Professor. A short post about Prince. An even shorter post about bacterial reproduction, basically and Instapundit style post which just links to something interesting. A post that mostly quotes from another article and turns into a pitch for the Amazon portal. A post in which the body of the post consists of four characters ("Yay!"). One long post, poking at a sore spot for many readers, which has two long quote from another blogger and another emailer.

And in the next to last post of the day, we get a short post about Hillary Clinton's friggin' hair-do.

[snip]

I think the Professor is starting to go a little stir-crazy without commenters!

Without a comment section I'm not all that interested in most of these posts. Really only one out of nine grabbed me, without the promise of comments.

* I'd do grab-ass posts too, but that's what my other blogs are for.

Icepick said...

The nice thing about the catch-all comment posts is that I can schedule them in advance. I'm good up through the 22nd now.
