Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton told federal investigators that Colin Powell, a former secretary of State, advised her to use a personal email account, the New York Times reports.
The newspaper said the information, from a three-and-a-half-hour interview with Clinton in July, is included in notes the Federal Bureau of Investigation gave to Congress on Tuesday.

Powell has refuted this meme uncategorically. Let her continue to lie. She will alienate more undecided voters every time she does.
I don't trust Colin Powell.
This was the same BS excuse that Chis Wallace shot down: link
She never takes responsibility, does she?
If she's still trying to wiggle out of it, the whole business still resonates with people.
"Yeeaa, that's the ticket!"
I can't stand Powell. That said what a lowlife Rodham is.
Powell explained on MTP, shortly after this email shit surfaced,in about 3-4 minutes, the fundamental differences between his and Clinton's personal email. He did so a bit exasperated. I would edit it down and get it into an ad.
This sycophant NYT reporter says Powell's use of personal email is not "entirely parallel" to Hillary's use. Liberals have taken Orwell's satire on word games as a how to book. Firstly, something is either parallel or it's not since parallel means not intersecting to infinity. Secondly, if reported accurately[Iknow..I know] the words would be "fundamentally different."
Manafort was just shit canned. I never understood Trump hiring the consummate["Tassel loafer lobbyist" Ross Perot] lobbyist. It is inconsistent w/ the outsider theme of the campaign.
You know, it occurs to me Trump has flipped the script on Hillary, with that Mea culpa on the use of words, as opposed to Hillary holding fast that she has done nothing wrong.
If the media were not trying to help her, that would be the story.
Yes it would. I know some faux tough guys think admitting mistakes is not "manly," at least their myopic view of manly. But, it most certainly is. I contend it is integral to manliness.
Did he tell her to set up a PRIVATE SERVER?
She's manipulating everyone with her use of the word "e-mail". She's lying again.
At another blog, a liberal commenter constantly brings up Colin Powell as an excuse. To me; I have no problem with Powell being prosecuted. Take him to court, let a jury decide. I see no reason to give Clinton a free pass simply because they think Powell is getting a free pass.
Now with this, make them co-conspirators and try them together. If either or both of them were using their power as SecState to enrich themselves; they should go to jail. And if they were hiding this via private email servers; put them in jail and throw away the key. That's the only way to stop this corruption in a civilized society. If you don't stop it, uncivil solutions will eventually be employed.
Did Powell tell her to use a cloth to wipe the servers?
"Powell's office said in a statement carried by Reuters late Thursday that he could not remember the dinner conversation, but 'did write former Secretary Clinton an email memo describing his use of his personal AOL email account for unclassified messages and how it vastly improved communications within the State Department.'”
"'At the time there was no equivalent system within the department,'" the statement said, adding that Powell used a secure department computer to manage classified information."
"Powell has said he had to use his personal email because the State Department did not have a fully functioning email system when he joined in 2001."
What Leland said.
She lies, like a rug. It is her nature to lie.
Powell is a racist and a traitor.
What, too harsh? Nah - he voted for Obama at least twice.
I wouldn't expect it from Powell, but if he were ever a true Republican that cared; he'd float the idea of a defamation lawsuit. Discovery shouldn't hurt him, as he can provide all that he has regarding his use of personal email for State Department business (he should have done so for good record keeping anyway). Then force Hillary to explain when Powell advised her to mishandle classified information or handle all of her business as SecState on an unsecured system. I'd say her suggestion that he committed or at least conspired to help Hillary commit treason should be worth a healthy sum of money.
