"Why Did the White House just Humiliate Loretta Lynch?"

NY PostIdiotic: That’s the only word for the Obama administration’s move to scrub references to Islam or ISIS from the transcripts of Orlando terrorist Omar Mateen’s calls.
Under an avalanche of ridicule, the Justice Department on Monday relented and released the full transcripts. But what was the point? Everyone already knew that he’d pledged allegiance to ISIS and its “caliph.”
Fine: President Obama wants to make this about gun control, not terrorism — but ham-handed editing only calls attention to what you’re deleting, and to Obama’s peevish rules against uttering terms like “radical Islam.” Just look at the redactions:
Mateen: “I pledge of allegiance to [omitted]. “I pledge allegiance to [omitted] may God protect him [in Arabic], on behalf of [omitted].”
All the omissions did was make Team Obama look determined to keep its head in the sand about the nature of the enemy. Even the “explanations” sounded dumb. Here’s Attorney General Loretta Lynch on ABC’s “This Week”: “What we’re not going to do is further proclaim this man’s pledges of allegiance to terrorist groups, and further his propaganda.”
Further his propaganda? Seriously? The answer to Islamist jihad is to black out the words?
Lynch never did anything this absurd in all her years as US attorney here in New York, so you know the order came down from above.
It’s also idiocy déjà vu: Four years ago, Team Obama made then-UN Ambassador Susan Rice tour all the Sunday shows to blame the deadly Benghazi attack on an internet video, rather than on the terrorist plot they all knew it was. She looked a fool once the administration finally admitted the truth, just as Loretta Lynch does now.
It makes you wonder: Who at the White House feels compelled to send women of color out to humiliate themselves on national TV?

It's about political calculations that take advantage of a situation or alleviate fires first before they become unnecessary political gaffs that feed into the pro-democrat narrative.

Is Trump this incompetent? are the people around him really on Hillary's pay-roll? Who is advising him? Anybody? Anybody worth a hill of beans? or is he in this to hand it to her? Does he really want to win? Actions speak louder than words.

Trump may be behind in some polls but there is a long way to go. Don't be a coward and surrender now.

All the polls when this race began said that Trump had absolutely no chance of becoming the nominee. How did that work out?

I've already covered Trump's fundraising troubles and oddities. The short version is that Trump has raised very little money, has even less in the bank (Hillary beats him 32-to-1 in cash on hand -- sad!), and one-fifth of his spending has been on Trump or Trump-branded properties and campaign expenses for his kids. Last month's FEC filings show he's even paying a salary to himself for running for president.

That said, I have to admit that Trump has demonstrated the unprecedented ability to win a primary race on a shoestring budget, and I'm willing to stipulate that his gift might carry over to the general election. Trump has taken us into unknown waters; anything is possible.

But even the most diehard Trump supporters need to chill out for a moment and brace themselves for what he said last weekend to NBC's Hallie Jackson:

Of course, you are. this is the song of the NeverTrumpers. Notice how every last one of them falls back on that "I'm not mired in wishful thinking and blind faith" routine?

Hillary up 8 in Florida

OHIO: Clinton 40 - Trump 40
PENNSYLVANIA: Clinton 42 - Trump 41

It's wonderful how selective her viewpoint is. She just blots out anything she doesn't like.

BTW from the Breitbart piece April ignored when I linked it yesterday.

On Thursday, Democrat-leaning firm PPP released a poll of Virginia voters showing Clinton leading Trump by 3 points in the Old Dominion. Last year, PPP showed Clinton leading Trump by 10 points in Virginia. Since then, Clinton’s favorablity has decreased, while Trump’s has improved.

In Florida, a PPP survey from early June finds Trump leading Clinton by 1 point. In the past 4 Presidential elections, Florida has been decided by less than 5 points. President Obama defeated Mitt Romney by less than 1 point in 2012 in the Sunshine State.

And that's the Breitbart piece authored by a Cruz delegate.

You just pick out what you want to see.

And something from CNN on issues

Plus a quote from uh, some place

Note that Clinton lost ground on all of these important matters, and she's below Trump on what may be the 2 most important things — the economy and terrorism. Trump picked up 3 points on terrorism while Clinton lost 5 in this survey that was taken after the Orlando massacre.

It's April Apple's fault Trump is losing.

No, he isn't. Clearly. You just want him to lose.

With that in mind my suggestion is that you change "Please keep it civil" to something along the lines of "Please do not make explicit death threats" or maybe "Please do not publish a map to another commenter's home with a link to "The Anarchist Cookbook" and a free Uber coupon."

I think that either of those would set a more realistic goal for the blog and reassert your authority. I read somewhere that civility is bullshit anyway.

I like a good debate. It is good to have different points of view and to try to persuade each other to see the validity in the other side. We can do this without calling names, belittling, insulting or getting unpleasant. Wanting Trump to win and being behind that candidate doesn't make anyone a 'fanboy' 'trumpette' or any other cute name. Being against Trump doesn't automatically make someone FOR Hillary or a traitor to the cause.

Besides if we ARE going to get into a barroom brawl about it, it isn't right to do it sober :-) Let's all start drinking at 8am. or....maybe not.

And then, mirabile dictu, he hadn't. Same old, same old, particularly since the polls show we're back to neck and neck, but keep telling yourself he's hit his floor.

And BTW, those 7 states Barry mentioned with their thousand delegates that have yet to have their primaries should hand the One true Ted the nomination.

Everything's on the YouTube and Twitter, but you do TV to get the oldsters.

PS The American people were at least as stupid when HL Mencken was around IYKWIMAITYD. They were as stupid when they voted for Eisenhower and Reagan, according to the Lefties.

Rhythm and Balls said...

There's a lot of contentiousness here about who's pro-Trump vs. anti-Trump.

But that shouldn't matter, should it? You're arguing about his chances... since what matters on November 8th is who wins, right?

Anyway, if Trump loses, we have an idea of what April might say. (That the reasons she gave for his weakness(es) are what led to the loss).

But what's not as clear is what Troop and/or ed will say.

Will it have been, to paraphrase someone familiar, a vast left-wing conspiracy?

Here's the thing: I've hated Hillary with a passion and still doubt I'd vote for her. But she just gave the Trumpster a one-two-punch, right in the kisser. I'll still admit that her speech several weeks ago was strong and effective. And I also have to admit that her speech just the other day was similarly strong, from what I've seen. One of foreign policy and one on the economy. Whatever her problems, whatever her ethical and legal issues, she's the the one who's coming across strong and presidential. As a "Hillary hater" I think I've got the credibility to note these impressions, because my bias was against her.

Contrast this to Trump's machine gun tweets and refusal to countenance any good advice, or to embrace a more deliberative, thoughtful and steady approach. Certainly his WWF-style trash-talking impulsiveness won him points amongst his own crowd. How well do you think that's going to work in the general?

Will the independents be looking for strong and steady this year or impulsive and brash?

My bet's on the former. YMMV. But don't say we didn't warn you in November.

AprilApple said...

AprilApple said...

Excellent post, Balls.

Hillary is prepared. She wanted this for so long, she knows what to do and say. She knows how to snow everyone. The problem is she IS corrupt and she will use her power to institutionalize corruption for generations.

This idea that Trump will dominate her in the debates is not clear at all. Doubtful, in fact. Trump was not that strong in the primary debates. He was lucky he didn't have to answer every question. He wasn't terrible, but he wasn't strong. His fans think he wins when he steps on his dick - but everyone else is thinking *what the f*ck? not presidential*

Hillary also purchased a bunch of cheap ad-time up front (how did she get it so cheap - she has all those insider pay to play deals with the corporate press.)
Trump isn't prepared. Is it a conspiracy? I might not be, but as Trump continues to step on his dick, I think it's a possibility.

My first impression back when he first burst on the scene was "He's gonna hand this to Hillary". You know what they say about first impressions.

You need to do some research. Lindbergh was a prominent player in the America First Committee, warning us that, while we once dealt with a Europe dominated by Britain, we now faced the possibility of a Europe dominate by the Krauts and we ought to make nice.

Rhythm and Balls said...

Now there's a devastating argument.

It doesn't have to be an argument. She has good standing to believe it's a self-evident observation.

You seem to have a problem understanding her own arguments, and respond instead with emotional volleys. You throw all sorts of obscure or unusual twists into them. But they are still outbursts rather than considered counter-arguments.

But the basic premise that Trump might have political flaws that would prevent him from winning a general is a possibility. Just because you hate or can't stand that possibility and refuse to consider it doesn't stop it from being a real possibility.

You want him to win so badly that you cannot even hypothetically entertain arguments for why he might not. That is precisely what it means to have abandoned argumentation.

Or are you even interested in anything that the Clinton's did that was corrupt. Trump is going to make a big thing out of that. But somehow I don't think the people that hate Hillary so much can find the time to talk about that. Just about how Trump has to beg rich fat cats for money so they will feel comfortable with him.

Mentioned Hillary's corrupt deals a hundred times, Troop.
In fact I was the first to mention it.

Why isn't Trump talking about it?
