Organizers initially estimated that the march had drawn 310,000 people, then raised that estimate to nearly 400,000 — far exceeding their projections of 100,000 attendees and making the procession through midtown Manhattan by far the largest climate-related protest in history. New York police did not offer their own crowd count.
“It shows we have power,” said Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune. “It’s a diverse coalition. It’s broad and it’s growing in strength and it’s growing in diversity. And it’s increasingly impatient at the rate of progress.”Added...

I looked thru some of the photos at the link and... 400,000?
Looks like a healthy gathering, but some of the photos don't really feel like the crowd is that dense. The island already has, what, 8 million people on it?
Could the media be feeding us more crap? They would never do such a thing.
2 commie pals from b-town were in attendance. It really was a gathering of socialists. Afterwards, they all went back to their homes and apartments heated by natural gas.
solar kills!
I like the Daily Caller's take: Leonardo DiCaprio Pauses Private Jets, Yachting With Oil-Rich Sheikhs To Join People’s Climate March
Green maids needed.
Why didn't Leo DiCaprio and AlGore hire some green maids to clean up all the non-recyclable trash everyone left behind?
I'm sitting here trying to figure out if more marching is good for the planet or not.
Was the energy they used to get to the march offset by the energy they would have been wasting otherwise.
As has been pointed out, some like Leo and Al, the planet took a breather while those two were on foot.
But, on the whole... over 99% of the marchers don't have jets, but what they do have is a chance to extend their planet killing lives as a result of a healthy dose of march exercise.
I submit to you that on the whole... marching is not good for the planet.
Coupled with the trash they heaped on landfills and co2 creating trash burning furnaces... the list of environmental damage as a direct result of marching could create thousands of green shovel ready jobs.
the word 'submit'... in this context is overdone.
I 'present to you' I rather say.
It's safe to say that the Chinese are smart enough to plant stories in the media to undermine efforts to curb the reckless destruction of common environmental resources.
That said, some of these people come off like total idiots, all by themselves.
While marching people give off more planet toxic fumes. don't they? Specially the ones feasting on food truck bean burritos and what not.
Talk about a nasty present.
The stinking state those people where in when they got home to their loved ones. I shutter to think.
You know the smokers where probably discouraged from lighting up, thereby starving the state of precious tax revenue.
The gall of these people.
What climate change?
Maybe John Kerry and his boss can find common ground with ISIS in the fight against climate change.
"I don't have the answer but the kids do …."
That's some seriously hilarious shit right there. I guess he used to have the answer back when he was "the kids" age only now he's forgotten it. Superannuated dontcha you know.
“It shows we have power,” said Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune.
Well that's the problem right there. Turn the power off.
Whenever I see these weekday protests (both tard and pube) I think...do any of these things actually have a job?
tits.
