5D Chess, Cap'n Kirk?

I was intrigued by a little piece linked to one of my usual haunts and, given Kirk always seemed to beat Spock at 3D chess, I thought it might be interesting for all to contemplate. Keep in mind we're talking about a guy whose favorite author is Sun-Tzu and another who isn't only the richest guy in the world, but also one of the smartest.

Also keep in mind Trump is one who is known for offer the carrot before he applies the stick. He's been willing to do some horsetrading to get his BBB past, but the Undocumented Democrats have been abusing the privilege. Thus the bromance is no longer.

Or is it?

A lot of speculation has been attracted by a twit on X, "Most entertaining outcome" should have more than a few worried. Remember, Elon has talked about a new party, one that just might freeze out, one speculates, the Undocumented Democrats. And then there's his response to Schiffty's praise for his stand on the BBB. And the presence of a serpent in the Garden of MAGA, we are told.

It is said nobody trolls like the God Emperor of the Cherry Blossom Throne. That he lives rent-free in the minds of the bad guys. Could this turn out to be the Yugest Mind F Of All Time?

Stay tuned for our next exciting episode.

On Smoke in the Air & A Slow Start to Summer

We are currently living with and breathing in the smoke that's been blowing down from the wildfires burning in the central prairie region of Canada.  It's been filling the Mitten this week.  Before it descended, we were already awash in enough pollen from this year's late burst of spring to activate noticeable allergy symptoms in MrM and me.  Now, with this, we are both coughing, hacking and feeling miserable.   It's no fun to be outside right now or trapped inside with the air running.  Even though temps have been mostly moderate, some nights are still dipping down into the 40's!  It's been an oddball spring, with a slow intro into summer.   A bubble off center, from my perspective.

I saw this meme and thought of what MamaM used to say:

And just so we are clear, this does not refer to MamaM herself.

On Dead Heads & Paper Lectures

In Michigan news, thousands/hundreds (depending on the report) of peony blossoms were cut from the U of M's Peony Garden bushes and left lying on the ground in an incident of malicious destruction of property at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum in Ann Arbor early Sunday morning.  Police say that 100 signs were also left by the vandals.

The peonies were nearing peak bloom.  Just two days prior, the following had been posted on Mlive:

"ANN ARBOR, MI – The nation’s largest collection of flowering peony plants is nearing peak bloom at Ann Arbor’s Nichols Arboretum.

The University of Michigan’s W.E. Upjohn Peony Garden holds more than 800 distinct peonies. It began in 1922 when alumnus W.E. Upjohn, founder of Upjohn Pharmaceutical Company, donated a large collection including several plants from his own garden.

Cool temperatures delayed the initial bloom of flowering peonies this year, including the hardier herbaceous “tree peonies” surrounding the main beds. University experts peak bloom this weekend, according to the garden’s official website. At peak bloom, visitors can see about 10,000 individual flowers."
