Here we are, status quo ante bellum. Roe has been overturned. Summertime and the Lefties are rioting.
The Court couldn't find a rationale for a right to abortion (duh). If you look at how they arrived at the rationale, you see they could find no explicit basis in the Constitution, nor one based on the history and traditions of this country. What's more important, the 3 Lefties in their dissent could make no rebuttal. So it's pretty clear a lot of new "rights" are in trouble.
Top of the list - Lawrence (sodomy) and Obergefell (homosexual marriage). I think the next few years are going to undo a lot of Leftist nonsense.
That alone moves the Overton Window back a few notches, but wait, there's more.
Clarence Thomas has stated in his concurring opinion a lot of cases should be reviewed in light of this decision including, here it comes, Lawrence and Obergefell.
This is because Lefties, finding no explicit justification for advancing their agenda within the Constitution, fell back on cherry-picking clauses which could be twisted to allow their nonsense. Chief among them was the equal protection clause in the 14th Amendment.
Clarence Thomas thus makes the case this has the power to nullify a lot of old decisions. Further, he seems to invite a case to decide "whether our entire Fourteenth Amendment jurisprudence must be preserved or revised".
A lot of bad Leftist decisions are based on an elastic reading of the 14th Amendment. This could be the beginning of the end on most of them.
It's often been said Donald Trump did a lot to move back the Overton Window. It would appear he isn't done yet.

I'm familiar with the Window of Tolerance, but needed to look up more on the Overton Window, to find it's also referred to as the "Window of Discourse" according to wiki. And that intrigues me.
It occurred to me today that this ruling, which cannot quickly or easily be undone, has closed a door while opening a window for life and choice.
While those who are feeling and acting unhinged aren't yet able to see this (and may never be) it's actually set out and opened up a new window of opportunity for meaningful discourse.
On a side note, the Window of Tolerance is the area, state, place of flow between hyperarousal (fight or flight) and hypoarousal (collapse or freeze). It's where reason and emotion be accessed and processed together, according to Polyvagal Theory.

Why would I want to have a meaningful discussion with monstrous automatons who see a growing human being in the female womb as a parasite that can be discarded like trash at their choosing? They don't view life like normal people do. They see life as disposable and project on us who are pro-life that which they detest. All of their excuse-making, wailing, and gnashing of teeth is like watching a three-year-old not get a lolly. Fuck them and anyone who supports them.
The mere fact that they can't comprehend that Roe v. Wade as a law created a right out of whole cloth and isn't enumerated must be kicked to the states is exactly why 60 years of scholastic failure and indoctrination of the most inane ideas is why we are here.
From my perspective, someone is going to need to be the adult in the room and be able to access and integrate reason and emotion if the states are going to come up with workable plans for abortion management with set boundaries and limitations. Going all or nothing at this stage isn't going to work.
I'm honestly curious as to how one believes growing human beings in the female womb end up being seen as or behaving as monstrous automatons? What process or mechanism is at work to make that happen? Do the growing humans eventually stop growing and become less human?
Meaningful discussion can be had with those who are interested in mutual relationship and actual problem solving.
That's just the problem. They don't want problems solved. They want the government to handle their lives and grievances for them. Give them money for any wish and desire. To decriminalize their vices and uplift their desires as being rights. You can't deal with people like this who have been maturated and saturated in the soup of the poisonous leftist ideological theocracy. You're going to be fighting people who don't live or see the same reality that you do.
Meaningful discourse among those who know how to do so is still the way forward. While there may be a large group of unhinged people who don't want problems solved, they do not yet comprise or represent the entire nation. This is the time for people who know how to assess and work with reason And emotion to get to work and lead rather than react with all or nothing thinking or collapse and let the poison run its course.
