On Barking Mad

No cartoon drawings this time around.  No outsized body parts or golden girls to celebrate, no loose dogs to be corralled, but another public mention of mass formation psychosis and the willingness of people to be led by liars.  This time showing up in quotes taken from Dr. Robert Malone’s interview with Joe Rogan, as published in the Epoch Times:

Toward the end of his interview, Malone suggested that people are in the midst of what he called “mass formation psychosis,” drawing parallels to the mentality that developed among the German population in the 1920s and 1930s.

In those years, Germans “had a highly intelligent, highly educated population, and they went barking mad,” Malone said.

“When you have a society that has become decoupled from each other and has free-floating anxiety in a sense that things don’t make sense, we can’t understand it. And then their attention gets focused by a leader or series of events on one small point, just like hypnosis. They literally become hypnotized and can be led anywhere.

“They will follow that person. It doesn’t matter if they lie to them or whatever.”

Several years ago, he said, people were “complaining the world doesn’t make sense” and that we weren’t “connected socially anymore, except through social media.”

“Then this thing happened,” Malone said, referring to the COVID-19 pandemic. “That is how mass formation psychosis happens and that is what has happened here.”

To pique the interest of those not delving into the sources Mama provides, Robert mMalone is the man who invented mRNA technology and, Yes, Vagina, he is very critical of the drug companies and the (cough) government.

PS From my own POV, I'd say the mass formation psychosis is mostly the work of the Left and all its handmaidens and has affected those who actually trust Fake News.

The rest of us seem to have better sense.

PPS Case in point, you've heard the anecdote of the guy driving alone in his car wearing a mask?

I saw a guy zipping along on his Harley, no helmet (brain bucket as The Blonde calls them), but mask firmly in place.

Joe Rogan had Dr Peter A. McCullough recently and he also mentioned the group think phenomena called "mass formation psychosis". I had only seen clips of the McCullough interview on YouTube because i don't have a Spotify account. But my sister does, and on our way back from Florida yesterday, we heard the entire interview, and it was jaw dropping. If what this doctor claim is true... we are in big trouble.

Bonhoeffer's Theory of Stupidity applies to today.

Hey Lem, great to see you.

I think I might have fucked up.

I was denied entry on Bing.

I blame Betty White.

Appreciating the additional mention, Lem. I haven't yet listened to the Rogan/McCullogh interview and will look it up.

I did, however, listen to the entire 3+ hours of the Malone interview in one sitting. And I found him credible and easy to listen to, with what he had to say holding my attention the entire time. He came through as knowledgeable, intelligent, and well-spoken, focused on presenting facts and observations, without additional speculation with regard to intent. Which left me with the freedom and the responsibility to hold and decide how to apply what I heard. It was a relief to listen to someone sharing from their area of expertise without a huge dose of political opinion and closed conclusions added to the mix.

"Clear, rational, and well-documented, was Rogan's take, as he commended Malone for putting his reputation on the line at the risk of being de-platformed by choosing to speak as openly and honestly said he did.

He also hoped the clip of Malone talking about mass formation psychosis would make the rounds. Oddly enough, it ended up here at Levity through mentions and links made at the Althouse blog by the commentariat there, while the hostess herself expressed resistance to listening to it.

To move forward with "Open hearts and open minds, in view of carefully manipulated and pervasively distorted information" was the hope Malone expressed. Which lands as encouragement to press through tiredness or whatever else is in the way of engaging in the ongoing process of dedication to reality at all costs" (from Peck's definition of mental health)

Good to hear from you windbag, and thanks for the link. I hadn't seen that one before and appreciated it for its current relevance. Yes to Bonhoeffer's “Stupidity is a more dangerous enemy of the good than evil,” as quoted below. I sent the vid on to someone I love who works as a problem solver and frequently encounters that type of density in industry settings.

“Against stupidity we have no defense. Neither protests nor force can touch it. Reasoning is of no use. Facts that contradict personal prejudices can simply be disbelieved — indeed, the fool can counter by criticizing them, and if they are undeniable, they can just be pushed aside as trivial exceptions. So the fool, as distinct from the scoundrel, is completely self-satisfied. In fact, they can easily become dangerous, as it does not take much to make them aggressive. For that reason, greater caution is called for than with a malicious one. Never again will we try to persuade the stupid person with reasons, for it is senseless and dangerous.” — Dietrich Bonhoeffer

As for Barking Mad, there's a two-way there as well, covering rabid craziness on one side, and the alert/warning a dog delivers in the presence of intrusion, threat and danger. I sometimes feel both, like I'm awash is barking madness (with the current Covid and Jan 6 lies)all around me, while listening for other more watchful dogs like Malone to bark out a much-needed warning, with an inclination to bark myself.

Thankful this place came to be and still exists, through it all.

Hey, MamaM, I'm reminded of a couple of verses from Proverbs 26:

4 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.
5 Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.

Almost exclusively, verse 4 is the appropriate response these days.

Legal Insurrection put a post up yesterday that includes both videos on mass formation psychosis, the cartoon version posted here earlier, and clips of Malone talking it about it on the Rogan interview and elsewhere.

Also a link at Insty today to the LI post.

Rogan's wish that more people would hear of it and take it into consideration as they regard the foolishness that beset us, is being granted.
