I'm a Believer

Happy Easter everyone!

I am still a believer. I just don't go to church anymore.

I held out for a long time. I went to church every Sunday until I was sixty. Then I became like Sixty. And ND. I had enough of the hypocrisy. The church is all about it's own aggrandizement. The bishops are mostly all gays or gay friendly. They are only worried about money. Not the poor. The new Pope who is a servant of the Devil was the last straw. I couldn't continue giving them my support.

I still believe though. I miss the community of the Mass. However the current virus bullshit proved how ridicules believe in the Church has become. The bishops totally surrender to the government. They abandoned the believers.

I guess I grew up to become a Protestant.

So Happy Easter and let's celebrate the Passion and Resurrection of the Lord.

Now excuse me while I go look for a snake.

That was the best Beatles song ever!

15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

Didn't mention singing shaped notes, but there you go.

My mom got fed up w/ the Church hierarchy back in the 80's. She was very religious and never lost a lick of what Jesus wants of us. I like to think Jesus would burn down the Catholic Church if he returns. I know some arsonists that would be glad to help.

My mother-in-law is 103. She once went to mass every day, having selected her house upon becoming a widower so as to see the altar across the street from her front door. She's slowed now but did make mass just yesterday. She loves Jesus, but Dr. Pepper just as much.

Not a Protestant, just Bishop De Smed.

Maybe Giovanni Boccaccio.

PS I gave up when they started that Sign of Peace in the Mass.

Which I thought was a shot at the guys in 'Nam.

Who were really doing God's work.

No need to go looking for a snake. Snakes will find you when they need something (like warmth, shelter or buy-in), and they'll make their presence known (often with toxicity) when threatened. You can count on that. Just don't listen to or accept distorted truth or perversions presented as reality and you'll do fine.

I too miss the community formed around communion, but not enough to enter back into teaching that doesn't line up with my own awareness and experiences of mystery and reality.

Wisdom begins with wonder, not conformity to another's fixed agenda. Asking, seeking, knocking with curiosity and a sincere heart can open doors locked shut by years of dogma and phariseeistic rule-following.

The Biblical stories that come after the Easter story of Resurrection, go on to describe a Surprise Entry experienced by scared, doubtful, and disheartened followers, an Unexpectedly Personal Communion Supper on a beach, and a Dynamic Empowerment that looked a lot like drunkenness. All that and more awaits those who go through the death of one belief system to enter into the freedom another.

Besides which, haven't you already been speaking in tongues for a while?

I don't judge or minimize anyone's unhappiness about . . . things.

All I can say is, no matter who gets elected President, or who runs the government, I'm not leaving my country.

So I encourage you to remember that the Church isn't "them"; it's your Faith. Let them leave, why should you leave?

If it's a matter of how the Mass is offered (and I sure understand that), the Traditional Latin Mass is offered pretty widely, and you shouldn't experience any nonsense there.

You might not leave the country just as you would not give up your belief in God.

But you might refuse to accept the forms of government and refuse to participate in corrupt practices that directly contradict the words of our founding documents.

Our Constitution. Or the Good News.

I whish that the bishops and cardinals were like you Father Fox. Then we could have hope at least.

Sadly that is not the case.

Yeah, the Episcopal Church I grew up in, and quit as a teenager, decided it wanted to be WOKE AF. It's funny that the WOKE AF still have to adhere to the directives of the local Diocese Bishop, and can't perform homosexual marriage ceremonies here in Middle Tennessee.

Trooper:

What, precisely, is corrupt about the seven sacraments, in particular, the Holy Mass?
