Cool video. We took our kids on a field trip to an apple sorting facility over in Henderson County, NC. The place was a third party vendor for the apple growers in the area. Smart move on their part. Too expensive for an individual farmer to own one, but infinitely convenient to have access to one.
Anyhow, we were able to stand at various points of the process and watch, including standing above the entire machine. The adults were probably more interested and fascinated by it than the kids. Produce picking/sorting machinery is some of the most mesmerizing mechanical wizardry. I think that's due in part to our ability to relate to the efficiency, having spent way too long picking and sorting a few tubs of fruit or vegetables by hand.
