Hey chick, if you're out there can you explain what this monstrosity does. In LAYMAN'S terms. I googled it and all I know is it distills something down into other somethings. Petroleum into animal feed? Why so huge?
Ricpic, I think that whole thing will be stood upright when it reaches its destination. It's a huge distillation column, designed to fractionate or "split" crude oil into light vs. heavy fractions. Crude oil is a gemischt of hydrocarbons -- literally hundreds of different ones -- each with a niche market. Here is a fairly good explanation of the process. This just looks like a bigger version of the same old same old.
So, splitter is fractionation, not "splitting" like they do to atoms.

That's as exciting as the opening scene in Spaceballs.
Why ain't AOC and ALGORE lying in front of these weapons of mass AGW production? Think of the Polar bear cubs.
It kind of seems like a bad idea to advertise this and invite unwanted attention. The locals won't be able to avoid it but why tell the world?
One word: Plastics.
Three words: Massive Petrochemical splitter.

After watching it corner, I'm more impressed with the patience, fortitude and coordinated efforts of the tow truck drivers than I am with the thing.
