Emmanuel Macron: "Nationalism is treason"

Earlier in a MAGA rally Trump said he is a nationalist, meaning he's an American president and so far as his decisions go America comes first, as all Presidents must put their countries first.

Labels; populist, nationalist, patriot, globalist, whatever, they all come pre-loaded. Apparently Macron is triggered by the word "nationalist" as his conceptualization of the term is loaded with earlier German claim to the term that caused so much trouble in Europe and forces French to grope for an opposite term, one with positive connotations to describe similar personal emotion and impulses and political aims. So Macron presumes to lecture an international audience on specific vocabulary we must use. Macron is patriotic but not nationalist but unwilling at present to claim the term globalist. And if Macron is not putting France first then France needs a new president.

Beginning to wonder why Macron isn't more popular.

Breitbart leads their story with this photo probably to emphasize Merkel's and Macron's pleasant lighthearted carefree "what-me-worry?" appeal.

Let's look that up. Odd, none of them mention treason.

If we think our interests may only come first and we don’t care for others, it is a treason of our values, a betrayal of all moral values. We must remember this.

Wrong on two counts, D. If you're speaking about Trump saying he is nationalist and not speaking about earlier German aggression that caused so much grief, hard to see given your recent remarks putting United States with Russia and China with countries France must protect itself from, later downplayed as joke, then Trump said nothing about not caring for others. He's all about fair trade deals. He knows deals are best when fair for everybody or else there wouldn't be any deal. Maybe that's good rhetoric for French and European and American Democrat ears, but its logic is flawed. Switching of terms, straw man argument, D. There is no treason to anyone's values. And we reject you telling us what we must remember.
