He was something. Some of the acts really stood out to me - Ravi Shankar, naturally, as he was a gifted musician, Joan Baez for her beautiful voice, Tim Hardin, the If I Was a Carpenter guy, who I thought was drunk, but it turns out he was using heroin. We were on the road before The Dead played, so I missed them, too. So it goes.
I saw Joe Cocker at Woodstock ‘79 in Torino Italy, man. It was a 10 years later reunion tour, man. I still have my ticket too, man. BTW, I think I’m about 10 years younger than Sixty, man.
I was six, and my parents weren't hippies, so I missed it. I missed the Allman Brothers concert in Watkins Glen, too, but when I lived there the stories were still around.
Randy Newman is a genius. That's a great video. I always liked him, and was thrilled when he did the music in Toy Story. He wrote this song, too.
I had classmates who went. They contend Sly stole the show. Came on late[of course] at about 3a and woke the crowd up and had them dancing. A true showman.
Sly was an incredible performer - you could see him work a crowd, no matter the setting. Now he is non compos mentis living north of SF due to a live-long love affair with cocaine. Shame, that, as he really had something.
I got married on July 19th, 1969. Teddy drove off a bridge the day before, the moon landing was the day after. Only one of those 3 events was not a disaster.

Were you there?
The back up singers' facial expressions are hilarious.
"Will you just LOOK at this fool? SO inappropriate. Cannot even remain upright."
I was. Still have my tickets. Our ride left Saturday as the rain was getting bad so we missed Hendrix. Figured we could see him any old time.
Oh dear! Dead just over a year later.
But you were there! And Joe Cocker was kind of there, at least corporeally.

About? How about exactly? And by exactly I mean give or take 6 months. But that's a story for another day.

I went to an outdoor 3 day hippie fest in Stevens Point WI in the early 70s. That's when I figured out: "we're fucked".

August 1969, about a month after we landed on the moon.

“I got married on July 19th, 1969.”
You married Carol_Herman? I know you went to Woodstock with her because you told us that on the TY blog.
I wish!
Also, from 1969.
Good pickup, windbag.
I tucked my hair up under my hat, and I went in to ask him why.
