I send them a bunch of crap all the time, the sort of things I liked at that age and this was a project to return the affection.
When I talked to the family over the phone and mentioned these plastic solar toys the youngest boy vocalized instrument sounds like a circus. "What is that?"
My brother said, "The Chicken Dance. The song they played at Amanda's wedding."
The things that stick in their minds. He heard this once and has it nailed. I heard it a couple of times and hoped to forget it. I push it away. They embrace it. This is why the boys like these toys. It reminds them of the fun they had dancing. Now, that forces me to like them too, and I don't care how stupid and annoying it all is. Suddenly I understand how my father managed to tolerate our obsession with Alvin and Chipmunks.
