Why did I doubt? Every time I think that Trump has made a fatal error, I get proven wrong.
Signing the Omnibus Spending Bill seemed like such a betrayal but now that I have done some research I find out just how wily of a move it was. Trump watched Obama's shenanigans and is now turning it back on the liberals.
From a website done by military veterans What is an Omnibus Spending Bill
and why is it not what you think. Read the whole thing. Lots of information and shit that we should have learned in High School about government......and what Chuck and Nancy evidently haven't learned either.
First of all it isn't a BUDGET, which Congress has refused to pass for some time. The President is required to adhere to a Congressional Budget. An Omnibus (or any other) spending bill is basically a suggestion. No money has been appropriated for budget line items. Because there is not a budget or appropriation of funds, Trump has lots of discretion on what he can do with the funds.
For example, he can divert military spending on a National Security issue like the Wall. He can slow walk money meant for Planned Parenthood and fast track things that he wants.
In FACT.....Trump just tweeted this.
So....because the Military got such a huge amount, the funds can be used to do all sorts of things within that venue and having the Military build the wall is possible. Now that the suggestion, I mean bill has been signed, there is nothing that Congress can do about Trump's discretionary spending other than to pass separate Appropriation bills. Trump learned from Obama .
Bwhaahahah. Nancy and Chuckie are going to be so burned.
I hope the word on this gets out to the lowfo people, like I was a few days ago. People need to know.

You're gonna need more than a tweet. And I can see the headlines for the Dems; "Trump takes spending away from rebuilding military and spends it on the wall.", "Trump acts like a Dictator and spends money wherever he wants and not as Congress budgeted."
But I get it, Obama did this stuff too.
Thing is; if he is successful, it will only go further in making the Presidency far too powerful. Perhaps that could be a good thing if Congress reins in power by writing good bills. However, I expect the prescription to the dilemma Trump is giving Congress will be to impeach him.
I am with you, DBQ - I read a bit more an realized it is a spending bill, not a budget. We shall see what he does. If he builds a wall - we're good.
Toldja (not being nasty, oopsy; I read this early on).
A couple of more pieces to back this up.
First, from our man behind the lines, Sundance. Some good comments, but be sure to read the second page. Interesting take by Sundance's man, Wolfmoon, that really lays it out.
Second, the eminent Mr Surber has some pithy thoughts, also. Do not miss the part about Iran, the Reds, the Norks, and the Rods from God.
Fascinating stuff.

Zippy spent 8 years doing this and the Demos loved it, so they're pretty much screwed.
Also, the Corps of Engineers would be doing the spending and they work on civil projects. The money budgeted for civil works would be what is spent.
@ edutcher
No offense taken. When I am wrong I can man up (or cowgirl up) and admit it.
The issue is that while WE know (now) the difference between a Budget and a Spending Bill, there are millions of disillusioned and pissed off Trump voters out there right now who aren't informed or as "connected" on the internet as some of us are.
Unless the information/explanation gets out quickly, I fear that there is going to be a big loss of Republican seats in the house and if the Dems get control of congress they can really gum up the works, even more than they already are. I don't give a rip about those individual Republicans, I just don't want to see a Dem controlled house.
How this word gets out? Not everyone listens to talk radio or watches Fox or Fox Business.
We cannot depend on the MSM to tell anything close to resembling facts. They are going to spin this into whatever they want and it won't be good.
Well, we will see. If it turns out that way, then that's a consolation prize.
That said, I maintain that this was mishandled; although the blame goes equally to the GOP leadership in Congress.
Here's how it ought to have been handled.
Remember when the Dems shut down the government several months ago? That's when they made the key mistake. Instead of passing a short-term catchall spending bill then -- which expired last week, the GOP should have said, to the Dems -- who were taking the blame, recall:
We will gladly reopen the government. And we will do it by having votes -- in the Senate -- on each of the appropriations bills that you have been blocking via filibuster.
We'll start with the Defense Bill, since national defense is so very important.
Then each of the appropriations bills should have been presented in descending order of how much the GOP base cares about them. The last to be presented should have been whatever the Dems care about, but GOP voters do NOT care about.
That's how it should be done every year. In fact, if the GOP had any brains, they would package together all the stuff that they know their own base doesn't care about. Attach to it any and all riders the Democrats really don't want to vote on. Then it's a win-win: if the Dems let it go through, then lots of good things come with it. If they block it, well then, isn't it too bad that the Dept. of Ed, or the NLRB, or whatever, doesn't get funded. Boo hoo!
Sure, Mr. Trump can try to spend or not spend as he sees fit, but you can be sure members of Congress will sue him. Maybe you've noticed, the federal courts haven't been friendly to him thus far.
Smart, disciplined leadership beats trick plays in the long run.
If Trump tries to go this route watch the Dems' activist judges stop him.
They can't.
There is nothing for them to stop. Back in the 80s, the Lefties tried to stop Reagan fighting the spread of communism in Central America with an administrative resolution called the Boland Amendment. Reagan did what he wanted and the Demos screamed, but a resolution is not law.
Thanks, DBQ, I was kinda bummed by your last post. I have pretty big confidence in Trump. I like how he's handling the ME, Putin, telling it like it is on Twitter. He's hilarious.
I better see some wall building going on!
lol, Evi, the devil's in the details.
I hope you are right DBQ.
